Just wanted to put some updates in from today's Eagles Live. There's some funny stuff and some insight into the front office:

- "Avant will be a terrific player. He'll be a terrific, terrific player"

- "I will stake my reputation on Gocong, whether as a DE or LB, will de an impact player at the NFL. I haven't been this excited about a prospect before"

- Spuds thinks the #1 off season need (in the draft) is CB. That's complete BS, but the point is he wouldn't be saying it if he wasn't instructed to say it. What this means, is they are potentially looking at a CB early and they know people will hate the pick, so they are starting the PR offensive.

- Spuds made several comments that made me believe there MAY be some smoke to the Eckecl fire. MAYBE. Some of his paraphrased comments...

- "If McNabb is upset about not going to the Saints playoff game, and I'm not saying he is, I don't care. No one ws allowed to go that ws Hurt. I'm sure Jevon and Lito wanted to go. I'm sure McNabb wanted to go. No one is bigger than the team"

- "If he's upset about people making comments about his Mom, he shouldn't be upset with the Eagles...they don't attack him. And really, he and she should klnow better than to put something liek that out there. They are high profile and they know what will happen if she puts something like that out there".

- "FA is not the way to improve a team. I look at Darren Howard and he FELL OFF A CLIFF after the first 5 games. Is that what you get for $10 million? 5 sacks? No thanks"

- On Spagnuluo (or however you spell his name, he mentioend that Steve already had his vacation booked and didn't expect to even interview for a position this when the Giants called him. He went up there and they hired him the next day., Soudns REALLY, REALLY desperate.

I'll post more stuff if there is anything interesting.

- Reid did a phone press conference with several members of the Philly media whcih was broadcast live on Eagles Live.

It was supposed to be limited to coaching questions only, but of course the media started askign McNabb questions. Reid said AT LEAST 3 seperate times that the stories were "made up".

The other stuff was pure Eagles live hilarity. AFter the second McNabb question, you can hear Spuds loudly groan in the background with an "Uuuuuuuuuugh".

After that question, one of the Eagle staff broke into the conference call and said "Any more questions for any Andy?". Someone responded and the Eagles voice asked again "Is this a coaching related question?"

NTF...those guys are hilarious.

Seriously, it's not as if these guys have much rep to bet against. We already have Spuds talking about free agents being trash, and then having on on-air coronary after Randle-El signed with the Redskins.

The CB issue, I'm a bit surprised on. But I shouldn't be surprised, not that Hood's gone, JosLOL Hanson will probably be the dime back, and William James...well.....what's to happen there? Cut?

Well, at least it's not another lineman or fizzling out LB.

And FD, it IS desperate when you're hiring the coach of one of the worst starting linebacker combinations in football.

In the secondary, Hood, James, Lewis, and Mikell are all free agents and Dawk is 33 years old, so I think that's some of the motivation.

I guess Howard will be cut as the confetti is falling on Peyton Manning's stupid looking face.

Indeed. Watching them crash and burn trying to retcon their picks - Howard, McCoy, McDougle - is fun and educational.

Spuds did say two interesting thinks about Bunkley.

He basically said the off-season hinges on Bunkley. Bunkley has to be really good in order for them to really improve on the d-line.

Later on in the show, he said "Bunkley really scares me...I don't know if I saw the desire that he really wants it"

Corey Simon, V2?

Johnny gets a Gold Star for today.

Corey Simon had 32 sacks in 5 seasons with the Birds.

He had fatness/laziness issues at the end, but if Bunkley turned out to be Corey Simon V2, I'd be thrilled.

Meant the Simon comparison as in that's what the Birds expect him to be like.

That is the fire to the smoke right there. If there wasn't an issue or truth to McNabb upset with the Eagles, SPUDS would not have brought it up.

In his defense, he was trying to answer questions being asked of him. However, I believe that if he absolutely KNEW there was no truth to it, he would have just come out and said it.
