Yeah, this is a good move by the front office. I like it also. A younger, capable qb to back up #5 was the right way to go.
They saved money and Koy gets to stay!!

I'm also happy with this move, as it shores up the spot for a few years. While few of you will accept it, Feeley showed he can play in the Atlanta game.
Regardless of how well he played, Garcia is still a bit of a risk as he won't get any younger, and it doesn't make much sense to spend treasured salary cap dollars on a guy whom you really don't want to see under center if you can avoid it.

Cant argue with the move at all. Says to me:
1. They dont doubt that supa 5 will be ready (palmer, not culpepper)come Sept.
2. Garcia is expecting some cash and wanted to test out the market
The reality is that if 5 goes down, the chances of winning the big one is ZERO. AJ gets you a little better draft pick

this is an odd statement considering how the eagles played last season after mcnabb went down.
whether or not you are a mcnabb "backer" or not, i think its now pretty obvious he is not the beginning and end when it comes to the eagles success.

i dont think so. Garcia did great, couldn't of asked for more. But the run was what it was, a run. They lost against the saints. I believe if 5 was under center, he would have accounted for more than 3 points needed to pull out the W.
not garcia bashing, just saying I dont believe he could hold up and entire season nor take a team to a championship. Than again, to date, either has 5. So I guess this is simply an opinion, not a statement based on absolute fact.

You really think that, Seth? I assumed that most people figured Garcia was bound to get more money than he's worth by going elsewhere.
Put it on a button: I'm fine with Feeley.

mlewis, i'm not saying garcia was a better option than mcnabb. simply stating that to say that this team has no shot without mcnabb was proven not to be so. this team certainly had a shot, as they proved by improved play when he was out. this is not my opinion, this is what actually happened.

no, what happened is they lost in the divisional playoffs. Its not like they won it all. I am not saying that the team cant win games without Mcnabb. They can. I am saying that they cant win the Super Bowl with their back up QB (Feely or Garcia). My belief is that if Mcnabb was the QB, they would have beaten NO. I also believe that garcia or mcnabb could have beaten Chicago and probably Indy. The saints were the team to beat, and the Garcia lead team blew it. As the mcnabb haters love to say, winning the superbowl is all that matters, not winning a home Wild Card game. Yes, I know 5 has not won a super bowl, He does however give them their best chance to get one.

i dont think this is what you meant, but just to clarify, feeley is not as young as everyone thinks. i believe aj is only about 6 mos younger than mcnabb. less game-mileage on him though

Ditto that re-signing Feeley was the right move. This team is already cash-strapped as it is (more or less), and there's no justification to pay Garcia starter's money unless you actually want him to be the starter.
Seems like they didn't even make him an offer, though.
And you're right, Seth - instead of pointing out that this is the right thing to do, the media and WIP (for entertainment purposes only) are turning it into another Eagles' bash-fest, saying stuff like McNabb's psyche is the reason why Garcia's going elsewhere. Even if that's a possibility, it doesn't change the fact that keeping AJ was the better thing to do.

It might just look that way to us, though. I'd like to think that they tossed a few numbers around during early discussions, and probably came to a quick conclusion that the difference in those numbers would be too far for either side to meet halfway on. Giving your offer #s to the press on a guy you've decided not to sign rarely makes a team look good P.R.-wise.
And they can leak those numbers at their leisure down the line if Garcia flops and AJ somehow excels.

Backup situation is under control now for 3 years. Feeley will still be able to play in 3 years. Garcia will be out of football in 2 probably.
It was the correct move.

Not really. Especially if 5 isn't ready to go by Opening Day. Not to mention people are still hung on to AJ's 2002 success.

Apparently they DID want to have talks but on their terms- object being having a done deal by March 2nd, to which Garcia's agent asked for a 5 day grace pd.- which ticked off the Birds F.O. as they felt whatever offer they stuck in their hands would simply be used as a starting point for him to open up talks with the other suitors, but give him a fall back to come back to the Eagles with after seeing what all he had to chose from.
You should know thats not how they deal.
Smart move in this case.
ENY- spill the beans man.

I am happy with the move, I just hope #5 is ready and we don't have to worry about AJ period... (AJis hopefully like life insurance, we have it but hope we never need it)
ENY really you gotta spill, cause if he is out screwing around then someone should be around to be there for Ms Mitts if she's still around... keep hope alive...

I never said anything about Feeley. The only time the guy did anything was 2002, and even then he didn't really do anything. Then he couldn't even make the Chargers as a third string.
Hell back in 2002 I thought Pat Burrell was good, that's how long ago it was.
