Joe Horn will be released, according to PFT.

That probably means he's been signed to a lifetime extension with the Saints, OR a guy named Mike Horn drowned in "Saints Release Lake".

Well I guess Rosenwhore pumped his clients ego up more than he pumped his client to the other 31 teams in the league...

Free agency is only in its infancy, but the fact that there has been little talk about wide receiver Donté Stallworth could work in the Eagles' favor. No news, essentially, is good news.

The Eagles would like to have the 26-year-old wide receiver, who caught 38 passes for 725 yards and five touchdowns last season, back in the fold. But, like most financial matters pertaining to the Birds, they only will have him back at their price. They aren't willing to overpay. They don't value any player that much.

So when the first day of free agency on Friday passed with little overall activity and even less chatter about Stallworth, optimism at the NovaCare Complex grew. Either Stallworth and his agent, Drew Rosenhaus, were close to a deal or there was nothing in the works whatsoever.

The guess here is that nothing, so far, is in the works.

Judging from the lack of signings on Friday, teams appear hesitant to jump into the free-agent market. The talent pool is not the greatest because so many teams locked up their coveted free agents either with new contracts or with their franchise-player tag before free agency ever began. Teams have money but don't appear willing to spend simply for the sake of spending.

Some players eventually will cash in, but will Stallworth?

Maybe - but not yet.

Stallworth has not said what exactly he wants in terms of a new contract, and he has been careful to keep the door into the Eagles' locker room propped open even while he has campaigned for a new job. A hefty signing bonus, possibly in the neighborhood of $5 million, is not out of the question, although it's likely Stallworth wants much, much more.
