Okay...still a little over a week until FA officially begins (not that the Eagles will participate) and the franchise tags are being slapped on the cream of the crop.
This will just be a thread that keeps tham all in one place:
- Asante Samuel, CB, New England Patriots
- Lance Briggs, LB, Chicago Bears
- Justin Smith, DE, Cincinnati Bengals
- Dwight Freeney, DE, Indianapolis Colts
- Charles Grant, DE, New Orleans Saints
- Cory Redding, DE, Detroit Lions
At this point, Stallworth might be the 2nd or 3rd most sought after player in FA.

McNabb will restructure his deal to make cap room for Stallworth, just like Peyton Manning has done. As we all know, the Eagles would sign Stallworth if they only had the money.

Nice post FD. Good to keep it centralized.
I think that if they tagged Stallworth it would run em what? 7 million for a yr?
Would it be worth it to do, buy em some time if in good faith they want to see if he can stay healthy and he wants to remain?

And since when has the franchise tag worked for this team?

I think the Franchise tag would have been something to consider, but they won't do it.
Rosenhaus will throw a fit, they NEVER follow through on the tag (they poop their pants in the face of conflict), and Reid isn't even there to help deal with the aftrmath.
Plus, they all have GIANT boners dreaming of Avant speedwalking down the sidelines.

They'll keep Softserve under a fanchise tag until most teams have already signed their FA and then suddenly remove it and release him ala Simon. They'll lose their 3rd rounder (or whatever) for next year.....
Glass half empty but viewed by Jules its 3/4 empty.

Do they lose their 3rd rounder if they franchise him? He still has to sign the tender, right?
If they do franchise him and don't sign him, PLUS they lose the 3rd rounder, somebody should be strung up and used as a pinata.

I'm down for a 700 level T-shirt bet that Stallworth will NOT be tagged by the Eagles this offseason.
Any takers?

Wait, I'm drunk. Excellent points have been made.
Allow me to adjust the bet. Stallworth will not ENTER THE SEASON under the Eagles Franchise tag.

my take is, as long as they wait til after FA starts, its a 4th no matter what. to sign him in the next few days makes it a 3rd.
