I hope they get Tony Hunt, just so I can nickname him Thunt.
Imagine, if you will, the crowd reaction after he runs for four yards and the heavens open up to an echoing, booming "THUUUUUUUUUNT!"

I never gave my wishes, so here goes:
1)Brandon Merriweather, S, Miami-
Would LOVE a LB, but lets face it, not happening so gimmie the S outta the U with size and speed who can play both CB and S.
2nd) Michael Bush, RB, Louisville-
Again, I hope hope hope but dont expect it.
But this is a WISH list, so.... I think if somehow, Lenoard is there they'd take him over Bush, but I think he'll be gone by the time they select in rd.2.
3) Quincy Black, OLB, New Mexico-
Kid's stock is on the rise, good size at 6'2, 240, runs a 4.5. 40.

From Eckel this morning (and I don't trust anything he normally says, so take it with a grain of salt), the secondary talk with the Eagles is a complete smokescreen in the first round and they will absolutely, 100% not take a safety.
He also said that they specifically hate Griffin and think he's the same player Michael lewis is (can't cover anybody).
He claims they have 4 players on their board right now that they are looking at in the first round:
- Jarvis Moss
- Anthony Spencer
- Greg Olsen
- Lawrence Timmons
If one of them falls, they will draft that player. If not, they will trade out of the first round.
Given how the Eagles operate and Eckel's complete lack of inside sources, I can't imagine he has a good bead on any of this information.
That said, I wouldn't be shocked at all if they did decide to go DE in the first round.

"He also said that they specifically hate Griffin and think he's the same player Michael lewis is (can't cover anybody)."
What warning signs in Griffin's game do they see now that they didn't see in Lewis' game in 2002 when they evaluated him and thought he was a player?
Have the Eagles really altered their evaluation process of DBs that much since drafting Lewis (who wasn't a bad pick at the time and had a couple successful seasons)?
So according to Eckel, this is a flat out admission by the Eagles brass that they were way off the mark in their evaluation of Michael Lewis when they selected him in the second round?
In light of Eckel's report, I think it's a lead pipe lock the Eagles take Griffin.

I thought Michael Lewis covered pretty well his first couple years and just slowly got worse, for some reason. Either that or they hid him well but teams slowly figured out where to attack him.
Last year he was just tough to watch back there.
That said, Eckel is a sourceless troll.
Finally, they had a first round grade on Lewis and couldn't believe their good fortune when he fell into their lap! They go from putting a first round grade on that player to saying "Griffin is another Michael Lewis, which means we'd rather scratch our eyes out than look at his game film again". Sure sounds like they have a slightly different philosophy on safeties these days, indeed.

Ive been thinking Olsen lately, but I think that would require a move up.
He won't be there at 26.
Actually I think he could go to ENY's boys at 25.
Timmons eh? I'll believe that when I see it.

I'm not sold on Olsen as a first rounder, but I agree that he'll likely be gone by the time they pick.
I certainly wouldn't want them to trade up for him, but I guess they'd have to consider him if he falls to them.
I just think Olen isn't a special player and I think there are great needs/better upside players around that area of the draft.
I also think TE isn't a position in this offense that seems to make a big impact. Chad Lewis did a nice job and helped the offense a lot (especially during McNabb's development), but he didn't have any vertical speed.
LJ is a nice athlete who just never seems to put it together, but if LJ is out for a game I never think "how are they going to make up for his production".
It just seems like TE isn't a big cog in this offense and doesn't require this level of attention (first round pick) unless the player is really special.

Oh, and this nugget from NFL Draft Blitz (premium content):
"- The Philadelphia Eagles are exploring options in order to deal running back Ryan Moats on draft day for a mid round pick. Defensive end Jerome McDougle could also reportedly be had for a late round pick. There's rumblings that offensive tackle Tra Thomas could be moved as well, but the price would have to be right. The team selected Winston Justice in the second round of the draft last year to eventually take over for Thomas."
The only thing holding up the McDougle deal is Heckert has to wait for the laughter to stop before letting them know what he's looking for in compensation. But the laughter never stops.

Does this organIzation look at anything seriously these days other than Supa 5? They don't value LBs, they don't value WRs, they don't value safeties, they don't value power RBs, sheesh....there aren't many positions left that they do value, except for special teams demons, punters, and backup QBs who can be kickholders.

OT, DT, DE, CB and QB.
Exactly...those are the only positions they really care about when it comes down to it (the ones they'll consistently spend high picks on and pay in FA).
They're nothing if not consistent.

The funny thing about the D-line fetish is I don't think they've ever brought in either a DT or DE who made a Pro Bowl.
Simon might have gone as an alternate once, but for all the picks and FA's (Simon, Walker, Kearse, Howard, Cole, McDougle, Jamal Green, Patterson, Bunkley, etc.)
Not a single Pro Bowl, other than Simon's alternate year...
Think they may want to look at why?

Now that I think about it, isn't Andrews the first offensive lineman Reid added that made a Pro Bowl?

I intentionally excluded Oline and Dline cuz they just seem to stock pile picks. Other than Kearse, they have rarely picked anyone up for those spots thru FA, just wasted tons of draft picks.
CB, they value.
QB, they don't really value, after they made their pick.

Kearse, Howard, Runyan all got paid and 3 semi-big FA's at those spots in 7 years is a pretty big investment. Plus, they've given extensions to tons of linemen on both sides of the ball.
When you look at how much the Eagles "value" a positions, it almost always comes down to how many picks they will throw at the problem. You start 2 Guards and 2 WRs, which which position have they thrown more picks at despite having a solid interior line and a terrible WR tandem?
The Eagles show their love by over-investing draft picks so they can come away with a shitty success rate, but guarantee themselves some players at the spots they value most.

Facetious, F-d, but my point was merely that there were TOO many positions that were not particularly valued by the FO. I could throw in TE. Essentially, most of the "playmaker" positions are undervalued by this FO.

I was listening to someone last night talking about Leonard and I heard the scenario that was the most intriguing to me so far.
They essentially said that the Eagles would use a player like Leonard as a FB, but they could motion Westbrook into the slot and either pass or run their entire offense using Leonard as the single back.
I still don't know if I'd go with him over a potential 1,500 yard rusher in Bush, but I could finally see how Leonard could be a headache for teams.
Up until that point, for whatever reason, I kept thinking of him basically doing Tapeh's current job...not working as a FB who can also run the entire offense as a single deep back with Westbrook in the slot.
That's a matchup nightmare IF Leonard can run the ball at the NFL level.

He's been pretty on the last few months with this team. Brookover also has a piece with Heckert mentioning how much he likes Hunt.
I wish his first name was Mike.
