Kenny Payne.
I rocked it.
Anyhow- to anyone who bristled at my commentary- oh well, just an opinion on the horrendous uni's that scream BLUEHEN and not EAGLES to me- tho the historical aspect isn't lost on me, I still think it was a mistake.
But the main reason for the thread was to keep my wicked HTML skills honed, yo.

Well, at least they didn’t go with the late 60s-early 70s white helmet/green wing design.
In 1994 they wore a throwback outfit at a home game against the Packers for the NFL’s 75th anniversary (I think) and they wore old uniforms with a plain green helmet. I would have liked that, or the Vermeil-era uniforms.

To be honest, the more people hate on this jersey, the more I like it.
They basically had two options here:
1. Wear the 75 year old jersey the original team wore for the 75th anniversary.
2. Wear the championship Uni from 60.
I think the one they chose was the most logical choice and I think it will grow on people.
I think the history is interesting, too.
Plus, if you want to pay homage to the history of the franchise, what's better than breaking out the little known origin of the team and uniforms?
I think the Green was only introduced during the Steagles era, so the franchise operated for it's first 10 years without green in the jersey. I think it's cool to actually recognize that and pay homage to the origins of the franchise.
if they were just pulling the jersey out of their ass (like...say...a Black jersey?) it would be really stupid, but this is what the 1933 team wore.

If anyone is concerned about the merch whores out there and people trying to pawn off merchandise on a fan base, you only need to look at about 1:00 on your computer screen. Why not take issue with that too??
Last time I checked this is still a free-market economy. God Bless America.

If memory serves, the Phils original colors were blue & gold as well.
Weird.

fagel, that's because that was a time when they played for the name on the front, not the name on the back.

They thought the muscle-bound African was no match for a slick talking Italian on the field of play and it helped get them well on their way to 10,000 losses.

has anyone actually ever met fd?!? although I am one of the biggest kool-aide drinking homers on this site, fd is quickly surpassing me to the point that we may have to change his name to "spuds jr."

I didn't know I could get another scarlet "H" for defending a throwback jersey, but so be it.
This jersey has a high motor, plain and simple.

In FD's defense I have met him and he looks nothing like that. When I met him at the gate a few years, he was tall and had spiked hair with a bandana. Almost like a cross between Drago from Rocky and Vanilla Ice-minus the drop top 5.0

I'm not sure if Hulk was ripping me or defending me, so I'll just say this:
Jason Avant reminds me of Jerry Rice (with better hands).

Sarge in my defense I went through a bad break up about a year ago and the only remaining remnants of that relationship was a overpriced grilled cheese maker she referred to as a "panini press". It cost approximately half the price of Eagles season tix or a nice LCD tv. For some odd reason when we split she left it here. So the only uses I can think of for this $600+ monstrocity are random acts of violence or toasting sandwiches.

I think the history is interesting, too.
Winning 3 championships in 75 years doesn't make for "interesting" history...
