I'll believe an independent McNabb when I see one that's allowed to call his own plays from the huddle.
Other than that, he'll play lights-out to prove that 1) he can still play, 2) he's fully healed, 3) he's ready to play for another team if need be, and 4) the reason the Birds won't win in the playoffs won't be because of his play.
I think the last one will hold the most weight.

I say 09, youve said 08 a couple times. I think he PLAYS 2 more yrs here minimum.
Just to clarify, I've been saying 2009 from jump street, with a change being made as early as 2008. I thought you had said McNabb will start for 3 more years.

I said that he WILL start in the third yr, HERE, if he plays great football and doesnt get hurt.
If those two happen, throw in a deep run into the playoffs once or twice (VERY doable- starting THIS season) and its almost a lock.
Two yrs for SURE, no move coming in 08.

I think a move in 2008 would be an extreme longshot, but still far more likely than McNabb being the Eagles 2009 starter.
I'm capping his run at two years and don't think anything but a Super Bowl OR Kolb being a disaster in practce will save him.

If he said he was ready to go whenever they wanted- Section you and a million others would be saying "See that!? NO HEART!"
Nay, I wouldn't say he didn't have heart. Bad haircut maybe. Moon walk had to go certainly.
I'm not really a McNabb basher / hater but I do like making fun of him and his Momma.
He's probably the best QB the Eagles ever had.
But for me personally I'm ready for him to move on. Kind of like AI. I've had enough.
I need a change at the position. I just don't think the Eagles can win the Super Bowl with him at QB.
Don't think he is a good enough leader. Wilts under pressure and now seems injury prone.
Don't want him hanging around for another 8-10 years with out a championship
Now that I said that, the Eagles win it all and McNabb is MVP in the Super Bowl next year.

McNabb is still less than one year removed from a major knee injury... I'd hold off on any "lights out" play predictions in '07. Hopefully Reid and Morningwood help his cause by keeping with the 60/40 pass/run ratio. In '07 McNabb just has to stay healthy, then MAYBE he will have the leverage to re-do his deal with the Birds.
In my opinion that leaves '08 as McNabb's year to either solidify his chances of finishing his career with the Eagles or they begin the process of moving away from him.

But Buckhalter's knees are held together with chewing gum and he performed ok.
Him coming back from a major knee injury will mean nothing when it comes to the pressure that's going to be heaped on himself, by the media and him personally.
And the nimrods chanting for Korn Kolb and AJ won't care about 5's recovery if he starts throwing wormburners.

I, for one, am pretty damned happy to see him grow some nuts and do things his way. he's always come off as too good to talk about anything half ass controversial, but it looks like, as grown ass men do, he's got something to say.
I mean, if i was the star qb, with the shitty recievers year after year, no solid game plan for a running attack, told i couldn't talk, ragged in the media everyday, booed b/c i try and my team sucks and then told i couldn't take the team plane for a playoff game....i'd told him to kiss my ass a long time ago. You go ahead #5!!
thank u, u guys have been great, i'm stepping off the box now.

I'm a little leary about saying this, but I'm actually impressed that McNabb grew a pair and thumbed off the FO.
Now, if he devolves into "black on black" or "fat on black" (as Johnson suggested) crime, he'll lose me.
I do think that for all that he's done for this organization and for being such a company guy, he's rewarded with a slap.

exactly jules!! business as usual.
every major star the eagles ever had didn't let the door hit them on the way out.
curious if johnson ever treated aikman this way, or if shanahan ever treated elway like that.
that's the front office for you. always has and always will be like that. it's just a shame.

I wouldn't be surprised if Supa 5 starts openly wondering if the Fat Man isn't setting him up to get killed with a 68/32 pass/run ratio.

Love the fact that 5 seems to be going for self....FINALLY. Just proves my point that his faults as a QB as so eloquently put by eaglefanok...
"if i was the star qb, with the shitty recievers year after year, no solid game plan for a running attack, told i couldn't talk, ragged in the media everyday, booed b/c i try and my team sucks and then told i couldn't take the team plane for a playoff game"
+ a few other things are a result of shitbag handling by the organization. (namely REID)
Enjoy Chi-Town Donovan.
REID MUST GO!!!!

I hope he hates the whole organization and that it motivates him to bust his ass, play the best he has ever played, lead the team better than he ever has.
The Eagles are in a no lose situation here, particularly if Kolb is the real deal, which for some reason I believe he is.

Eagles Quarterbacks believed to be the real deal at one point or another;
Roman Gabriel
Brad Goeble
Bobby Hoying
Ty Detmer
Randall Cunningham
I'm just saying I believe in Kolb as much I do these rejects.
