Wide receiver Bethel Johnson has a stress fracture in his tibia and won't practice in this camp. "We'll just see how he does here in the next few weeks," said Reid.

Bloom better be able to play.

Something I admit I'll be watching this summer is the battle at Punter.

I do not like Johnson.
WILDLY inconsistent IMO.

Gimme the new guy- Aussie Football Star, 6'5 250 lb. Saverio Rocca.

NFL avg. Hangtime is around 4.5.

Rocca averages 5.3. And per the latest from mini camp day 1, he is actually GOOD at the directional punting.

He was told 3 wks ago by Eagles staff he is "50/50" to make the team. Im hopin tis guy sticks and Dirk is done.

Im looking fwd to a revamped Special Teams unit, and this could be a large part of that revamped S.T.

I agree Johnson was inconsistant last yr.
I havn't seen any highlights of Rocca but read about him .
If he doesn't show his age I'd sign him .

morning paper has him as the first team SAM

spikes playing the WILL, trotter in the middle

that leaves gaither running with the 2nd team as trotter's replacement, along with mccoy at 2nd team WILL and the tank at 2nd SAM.

bradley, the draft pick, 3rd team SAM.

subject to change i'm sure.

check back, 2, 3, 4 times a day.

looking at the depth chart on PE.com, jeremy bloom is listed as the 1st team PR, and 2nd team KR. maybe there's hope for him yet.

also, mike bartrum is still listed as the starting LS. i thought maybe it was because it hasnt been updated, but the high draft picks are all listed, kevin curtis is a starter, and sam rayburn is gone. so is that just a typo or is there still a chance he's comin back ??

I thought he hung them up because of vertebrae damage. Maybe Deion Sanders laid on hands?

Just going by what's been printed and said out there:

- Gocong looks outstanding according to "Gcobb".

- Apparently all the running backs other than Westbrook haven't impressed. Moats still doesn't know the playbook and the two power backs have no burst. Without full pads, those guys aren't going to have a chance to make much of an impact.

- Curtis is apparently doing well.

- Bunkley is the talk of camp. Everyone is saying the light has gone on and he lost about 30 pounds from last year. I saw pics and he looks like a different guy in uniform.

- Considine apparently looks bulked up, but Gcobb said he was getting blown up in coverage.

- Avant has been running as the #3 WR and is playing very well.

- Bloom is said to be doing well. He's bulked up quite a bit and he actually looked bigger than Curtis in the pictures I saw.

- I saw a picture of Ian Scott in uniform and he looks he hasn't seen 302 in some time. Looks about 335ish to me.

- Gaddis, the safety from Clemson appeared to be a lot smaller than Considine and will be working exclusively as a safety for now.

Those are the main things I noticed, but I'm sue there was much more.

Moats still doesn't know the playbook when it's obvious that he's about to fall off the ledge to cutsville? This kid is dumber than I thought.

Is Chickie & Pete's Employee of the Month still on the roster?

Talon_60-- time to get a new name, bro. Might I suggest:

Read GCobb's col. tonite , he said they got bigger , faster and stronger .
That sounds good to me .
I'd really like the birds to change their approach to rookie playing time this year .

The '05 & '06 classes have to earn their money and come thru this year ...if they do the sky's the limit .

I've used this name for years @ NFLFans.com
i'm gonna strick with it .

I was born and raised in S. Philly moved to S.Jersey 35 yrs. ago.
I've been an Eagle fan for 50 yrs. & a 35 yr. season ticket holder .
My 1st game was a steeler game at connie mack stadium in '57 ...
mc donald and jurgensen were rookies then !
the birds won 7-6 .

Thanks for that.

Do you call WIP and give em all that shcpeil, before you then make your point- as if that resume makes you a superfan and smarter than those who merely watch the game on TV and arent as old?

Just askin'.

I love how everyone from South Philly is such a tough guy about South Philly, and loves representing South Philly, yet they can't wait to move their dumb asses to South Jersey.

Maybe because this year he's actually wearing a uniform.

The big thing I keep hearing is that the Birds are really patting themselves on the back for having excellent depth across the roster. Rest assured that will be tested.
Let's hope they're right.

I think the Eagles are deep, but something occurred to me last year that made me think "maybe they have less depth than any team in the league".

Basically, they have a bunch of good lineman (for instance), but they are almost all specialists and they ALL play significant time. When they have to play more time, they all wear down.

When most teams have starters and backups, the Eagles don;t really have any backups because they all play so much. When just one of those guys gets hurt, the entire rotation suffers because they aren't conditioned to play more snaps.

Just makes me wonder...what's the point of all that "depth" when one injury at the DE position or one DT under-performs as a rookie and the whole unit becomes useless?

Exactly... that was definitely the case with the defensive line last season. Kearse goes down, Bunkley never shows up, Howard trails off and that unit was screwed.

I'm excited about the new look LB corps... but a significant injury to a guy like Spikes and that unit becomes pedestrian instantly. McCoy is not a starter and who knows what you got in Bradley. Gaither is solid and has some experience now and trot is another year older/slower. Gocong is definitely the wildcard there... if he can play that will solidify the the linebackers in my opinion.

G-Cobb said that the early praise for Bunkley is just the Eagles hype machine in full effect, that he's a DT in shorts and you can't tell dick about a DT's play while in shorts.

SZR it definitely seems that way. It has that feel of positive reinforcement/wishful thinking on the Eagles part.

They definitely can't afford another McDougle along the defensive line. If Bunkley busts again it will be a remarkable feat on the Eagles part of using first round picks on the only players from Miami and Florida State that can't produce at the pro level.

That could very easily be correct, but I will say:

- He's in amazing shape compared to when he came in last year. I'll post the picture of him that I saw, but he looks like a different guy.

- Spuds said (I know) that he appeared to be using his hands well.

- Jim Johnson has gone out of his way to praise him during this camp. He has also praised his work ethic during he off-season and said it's like "night and day" from last year. Normally, if Johnson says something good it's not bullshit. Doesn't mean Bunkley has risen from the dead, but he impressed Johnson.
