I know this has been talked about before, but is anyone else surprised that Kelly Holcomb is still around. You would think he could catch on somewhere else. I guess I'm just surprised. Are they going to keep him, and put Kolb on the IR? Can they even do that? Can IR players practice with the team?

why would they cut holcolb now? he's a body and there is no reason to cut him before they have to... chang was throwing interceptions well into the fourth pre-season game last year.
IR players can't practice with the team, either.

I'm assuming they are keeping him for mop-up duty during the pre-season because they'll probably limit McNabb to a couple snaps in 1 or 2 games and they'd rather keep AJ out of harms way since he's not really going to improve out there and they'll be going into the season with a green horn as their 3rd QB.

My 10 year old son will be at Lehigh tomorrow for his first visit to Eagles training camp.
I'm slowly but surely setting him on the journey to being a life long Eagles fan.
Poor kid.

Make sure you take lots of pictures. Kids are always more cute when full of optimism, rather the cynical and negative young man he will become over the next 4 months.

I'm not suggesting to just cut him now, but I was stating that I thought another team would have made a move for him already. There are a a lot of team with some serious back up problems.

Well, there's Negadelphia for you. For shame, suggesting that section cut his own son just because he's going to be cynical in 4 months.

Reaper in 736 update, 8/2/07:
Dawkins couldnt practice today due to an issue with his Achilles. Super.
Per G Cobb, it wasnt being iced or wrapped, but he accurately notes that the league views these injuries as "Old Man Injuries" and cites Spikes' brush with the same injury 2 yrs ago as why the Bills and others in the league felt he was expendable/done.
1st it is sore, eventually tears and requires surgery- ala Spikes.
Stellar.

Since most of us in here doubt he'll make it through an entire season, who takes his spot?
The prospects don't look too promising, and other than Brown or a late waiver wire pickup, there could be more problems in store.

The Eagles don't seem worried at all about it and Dawkins wasn't worried either. Additionally, the achilles usually just pops and the tendonitis comes after the fact during the rehab.
Anything is possible, but Mr. Potato Head is known as a bit of an alarmist. After all, he's gotta sell...free visits to his blog?

IF he goes down for an extended period of time, it'll likely be Considine at FS and Mikell at SS. Solid, but not spectacular.
Make no mistake, if he IS hurt badly it will be a HUGE emotional blow, too.

Yes. No doubt.
As of now, its being viewed as no big deal.
Just a result of age Id guess. Takin the nesecarry precautions is all I view this as

OK. Just figured that he'll be out for a game or two (not necessarily because of this injury, but just the wear and tear of the season). not trying to make it seem that he's a lock to miss 8 games.

As I mentioned earlier in this thread my son went to Lehigh today for morning practice and to try and meet a few players and maybe get an autograph.
I just heard through a father from another kid who went with my son that the Eagles are charging kids for autographs. I haven't verified this yet but if this is true than it is a FKN DISGRACE.

Theyve never charged before - tix were always given on a 1st come, 1st serve basis and only those with tix could get in line.
I would be VERY surprised to hear they changed that policy without any sort of mention anywhere- be it by their own site or in the local rags....

I wouldn't be shocked in the slightest if people had lined up early for tickets and are attempting to sell those tickets, though.

Oh, and Lito didnt practice (Back Spasms).
Not too worried.
Apparently a lot of hits today- and gotta tip the cap to the revamped EMB- their multimedia section is loaded and the best ive seen anywhere.
Fight between Trent Cole and Max Jean Gilles today- apparently Cole tried the same cheap shot antics he pulled in the NYG game last September after gettin planted by Winston Justice.
He came up from behind (once he picked himself off the ground) and went to cheap shot Justice who was walkin the other way, and Gilles stepped in and clocked him- they got into it.
Seems Cole has some "Punk" in him. Super.

Fine by me. The Eagles need some dirtbags on defense instead of complacent nice guys helping guys up and joking between snaps.
I'm happier that Justice planted someone and Jean-Gilles has a mean streak than I'm disappointed in Cole.
By the way, who got carted off with cramps...Baskett? I thought it was Avant?

It was Basket (Tisket? A Tasket?)
And I agree on MOST of what ya say there FD, but I DO NOT want an UNDISCIPLINED GUY costin us ANOTHER game and potentially an all pro DE like last yr.
Get it in check, Cole.

The practice blog said it was Avant, but they could have just made a mistake.
On Cole, I know what you're saying. I definitely don't want a repeat of last year, but I do like a little fiestiness.

It was definately Basket.
Not only did D-Gunn have it in his Lehigh updates (which are about as riveting as Photosynthesis) but G-Cobb had it too.
Leg cramps- I guess both legs, hence the cart.
