McNabb's comment was just downright inappropriate. "Sexual last a long time"? WTF is that? I realize it's 11:30 at night, but what the hell?

My initial enthusiasm for Nasty Nate came from being at work during the draft. NFL.com had him listed as a fullback when they drafted him. I saw videos of him during games and thought "this kid would be a great weapon at the fullback position." When I found out that he was actually a halfbank, I knew he was a long-shot at best to make the team.

I'm not surprised to hear that he's underwhelming.

I heard that instead of turning his back on Nasti Nate when he carries the ball, McNabb tries to trip him or impede his progress somehow.

I heard McNabb considered changing his number to 4 before the season so he could simaltaniously tell Kolb to "suck it" and force his massive fan base to buy a brand new jersey, which he would bundle with "Supah wear" for 7 times the normal price.

So which player is this year's "Hank Baskett"?

You know - the one who yields abot 40 WIP calls a day fron K,P,L fans extoling him as the next [insert pro-bowl player at his position here].

I'd say Stuart Bradley is the frontrunner at the moment, but you never know. CJ Gaddis could return a pick for a TD with 30 seconds left in the first preseason game and dash right past Bradley.

"Bubble boys" are sweating things out

These are dudes on the verge of being cut from the team but not necessarily having a good bubble.

http://www.nj.com/eagles/times/index.ssf?/base/sports-0/118628680184750.xml&coll=5&thispage=1

Jerome McDougle,- DE The Eagles likely will begin the season with 10 defensive linemen.
McDougle is not expected to be one of them.

Ryan Moats, - RB Moats has seen far more action on his Internet blog than on the field, where he has been rendered inactive for 19 of a possible 34 games and has rushed for only 347 yards and three touchdowns on 44 carries.

Matt McCoy, LB - Unless the Eagles think the former second- round draft pick out of San Diego State can help dramatically on special teams, the undersized McCoy could be history.

Kelly Holcomb, QB - He would have been safe as the team's third- string QB behind Donovan McNabb and A.J. Feeley had the Eagles not drafted Kevin Kolb with the 36th pick in the 2007 draft.

Saverio Rocca / Dirk Johnson, P - Obviously, both can't make the team.

Nate Ilaoa, RB - his size (250 pounds) and lack of quick ness just do not appear to translate to the NFL game.

Montae Reagor, DT - Knee swelling has kept the former second- round pick of the Denver Broncos in 1999 out of the first week of camp, but many believe the Eagles will not give up on him just yet.

Jason Davis, RB - Has trimmed down since May and the former Illinois standout actually has enjoyed a fairly good training camp.

I can't see this happening - only because we'd never hear the end of "if McCoy doesn't turn into a STAR I'll be surprised" from the GM.

Everyone else seems to be expected.

I'm waiting for the "Is Gocong the next Shawn Merriman" comparison.

I'd also expect Max Jean Gilles to be compared to Shawn Andrews quite a bit in the pre-season.

I thought he actually played okay last year before he wore down. I'm not convinced he can make it through a season without wearing down, though.

I thought McCoy had a chance because I really did like his game, but the FO made the same mistake they usually do: They fall in love with an idea and murder it.

McCoy might be successful in some systems for all I know, but the Eagles decided they wanted to get "faster" after that Tampa playoff loss and they ended up putting together the smallest defense in football.

"I can't see this happening - only because we'd never hear the end of "if McCoy doesn't turn into a STAR I'll be surprised" from the GM."

Heckert never really said where McCoy would turn into a star. He'll likely sign on with another team after the Birds cut their losses and finally play like a second rounder for that team.

Screw that little bastard. They can shove Moats in his pocket too and kick both their asses to the curb.

"Has McCoy made any plays here?"
I remember he had at least 2 forced fumbles and a pick or 2 early on, but as FD said, without the big bodies in front of him, he just can't get off block to use his talent and speed. He will be here for this season. With "mr.dust for knees" Trotter, and "the biggest damn neck I've ever seen, but has a weak achilles"spikes, I think depth at LB will be a must.

for the guy who is interested in the battle at Punter. From the sideline blog on PRAVDA:

Punters Dirk Johnson and Sav Rocca are doing well. Johnson's last five punts have gone (in yards) 45, 43, 57, 50 and 49. Rocca's have gone 57, 48, 49, 53 and 49. There is only a simulated rush, but they both look pretty good booming kicks down to the returners, standing about 45 yards downfield at the 20.

2 FF's in regular season games? Preseason and Madden 07' dont count. All I remember is McCoy has the smarts to get to the right spots just not the size or strength to stop the play once he got there. He was carried on a couple plays like your son or little brother riding your leg.

as far the mcnabb/kolb relationship is concerned, it seems to be rather warm and fuzzy based on today's bowen article:

"From the first minicamp, I thought he did an excellent job of just kind of soaking everything in," McNabb said. "We've all been in that position where it seems everything is just kind of overloaded. It hasn't hit him that much, to where it seems he has too much on his plate. I told him early, 'When everything seems like it's just about to overflow, just kind of back away from things and go back over the little things.' "

McNabb noted that Kolb has three seasoned QBs to watch and learn from, in McNabb, A.J. Feeley and Kelly Holcomb. They all seem to interact well - McNabb said the quarterbacking quartet got together Saturday to see "The Bourne Ultimatum."
