I'm not expecting him to be losing people in space or anything (Hunt), but I do expect a little shiftiness because he isn't nearly big or powerful enough to just bulldoze into the line and knock people over at this level.

The thing I was disappointed with more than anything is I think he only fell forward once. It seemed like he'd thud into somebody and just fall down immediately rather than bulldozing someone, pushing a pile, or at least falling forward for a couple yards.

The height at which he runs is a little absurd, too. If he can learn to get the pads down better I'm thinking those "thuds" will start turning into pancakes, but time will tell.

Look, I'm not burying the kid after one came because:

- He's a back who is supposed to wear a defense down and get stronger as the game goes on.

- It's his first game.

- The offensive line got completely blown apart in front of him.

I'm just pointing out what I felt I saw and the only positive was the pass he caught in the middle of the field, breaking a tackle, and running for a few yards (which I think got called back...not sure since he "A Team" didn't make any mention of what happened when the cameras left the field.

This quote from Trotter kinda pissed me off too (even though I know it's just nonsense mediaspeak):

"We got them into situations where we wanted to get them in, third-and-long. We just need to get off the field on third down."

They go them into a 3rd and 6 and a 3rd and 9 during a 12 play 93 yard drive. That's not an accomplishment...it's a failure and it's a trend. It seems like they get really caught up with getting of the field on third down, but consider failing to stop anybody on third down as justification that they do a great job but just need to clean up one little aspect of their game. Football is comprised of a 4 down system and teams normally punt if they get to 4th down, so "not getting off the field" on third down means you are failing to stop teams on 33% of the remaining downs you're supposed to.

Further, the Ravens converted a pair or 3rd downs on that drive and gave up a total of 3 first downs in 1sdt and 10 situations. You may want to clean up that "1st down defense" too, Trot.

Yeah Spikes said the same thing on the sidelines when Spuds was interviewing him. Spuds was all googly-eyed looking at his traps the whole time as you can imagine

Bloom impressed me with his toughness and straight line quickness, but he didn't appear to have the home run gear and seemed to have difficulty finding a seam in the return game. I thought he looked very strong on Punt returns and a little tentative on kick returns. If he doesn't break, he's an upgrade as is but I hope that as he gets his legs back and feels more comfortable he'll improve.

On the Bloom front I think he did a great job, the last guy I remember that ran like that was Brian Mitchel(sp) straight north south runner, get the ball and run... I'd rather that style for consistancy Bloom has speed so I belive he will break a couple long returns and maybe even one the whole way back BUT even if he doesn't he didn't seem to be afraid of cathing the ball and taking the hit...

The other guy that I really liked was Celek, he may be a goofy looking guy but I like what he brings/brought to the team.

The main problem I had with last nights game was the way Reid was determined to get plenty of film on his punters... I think they both did a very good job but there is no reason to not attempt to score just so he can watch these two guys battle for the punting job... (OK maybe that should have been in blue, but on the flip side it almost seemed like whoever was calling the plays was doing so to be able to watch the punters...)

I know Reid does Preseason the same each year he has like 20-25 plays and they are the only ones he calls so he doesn't show to much on film(after 9 years in the league there is plenty of film) but it does get a little frustrating...

I also have to give a nod to Kolb, his throwing motion is odd, it looks like he takes forever to windup to throw, but GD once he releases the ball it's got a ton of zip...

All in all I'm not worried and personally as much as I'd like to see #5 play I think it's be better if they sat him for Friday's game as well, and then let him play in the 3rd game, which is the one that the starters play about a half...

I was underwhelmed with the secondary last night. Will James has been declaring his greatness to anyone who will listen and last night he looked slow and gave so much cushion it was crazy. He better rethink his overtaking Sheldon Brown position after last nights performance

Should have read "at least a year or two" for Kolb to start. (Injury concerns and the like) That's what happens when you watch a tape delayed crappy game whilst drinking light beer at a semi-late hour even on Pacific time.

I don't want to see Kolb rushed into a starting position, be it by injury or media hype, or whatever.

To all you non believers out there.

That white boy Kevin Kolb will never be as good as my boy Donovan.

My boy Donovan is a Superstar. He is an example to all the young youf out there to be proud of.

He's a leader. He has a wonderful sense of humor. He is loveable, kind and a joy to have as a son. And his clothing line is off the hook.

That boy Kolb is just a wanna be. He'll never amount to nuffin. He couldn't carry my boy’s huge jock strap.

I'd like to put my foot up that boy Kolb’s ass along with his Momma.

God Bless

Love to All

No other local sports last night, start of a new year, of course people are going to watch.

If you didnt watch the game last night (even to watch a few snaps)and live in the area, you pretty much are announcing that you are playing for the other team.

I'm with you GGB. If the Phils were on I definitely would have been watching them instead. To give you an indication, I skipped the last hour of the game to watch the finale of Hell's Kitchen.

I pray for death.

No way man, the battle for the 51-53rd roster spot is spine-tingling. Gotta see who the Last Resort Crew is for Chickie's and Pete's on Monday nights.

And speaking of Crab Fries:

(From Pravda)-

Moats was on the roster bubble after an inconsistent training camp, but the depth at running back is tested now, and maybe the Eagles will recall a player like Reno Mahe, who can step right in and play and give the Eagles some insurance at running back and in the return game.

I was watching the replay late last night/early this morning after a lot of drinking and other stuff, and I could have sworn I heard someone in the booth go to Spadaro for a commment by saying "Spuds?"

Gotta check the tape for verification, but something tells me Rich Hofmann is behind this.

Apparently Mahe is the new "Levens" in Reid's rolodex...or at least he probably is now. Until Moats got hurt, Reid actually had him listed officially under the "Guy who forgot my fries" subfolder.

McDougle has the best job in football and it appears he'll do anything - including taking a bullet - to keep that job.
