There has been another incident involving a troubled son of Eagles head coach Andy Reid.

Britt Reid was being treated at a hospital after he allegedly caused a drunken and unruly scene at a local shopping center.

Police said he has not been charged.

The incident happened before 4 p.m. at the Plymouth Meeting Metroplex, NBC 10's Mike Strug reported. The only evidence of what happened seemed to be a smashed shopping cart that witnesses said was struck by a pickup truck driven by Britt Reid.

A few minutes before that, at the Dick's Sporting Goods, employees said Britt Reid appeared to be drunk and was behaving badly, and he was either escorted from the store or asked to leave, Strug reported. Police were called at that time.

Witnesses told NBC 10 that Britt Reid then got into his pickup, drove across the parking lot and hit the shopping cart.

No one was reported injured, but a police source tells NBC 10 that Britt Reid failed a field sobriety test.

Police said the 22-year-old was taken to Mercy Suburban Hospital after the crash for a blood test, the results of which will not be back for several days, NBC 10 reported. Police also impounded his pickup.

NBC 10 cameras later captured Britt Reid being taken into the Plymouth Township police station in handcuffs.

Britt Reid remained at the station until about 6:50 p.m., when he and an attorney left without making any comment to the press and drove to the Reid home in Villanova.

Chopper 10 video showed Andy Reid arriving home about 7:20 p.m., and the attorney departing 10 minutes later.

Britt Reid had another brush with the law Jan. 30 in West Conshohocken. He was arrested for a road-rage incident in which he admitted flashing a gun at a Delaware County man.

Investigators searched Britt Reid's car and found drugs. They later learned he didn't have a license to possess the gun he used in the incident.

Britt Reid has pleaded guilty to those charges and is awaiting sentencing.

The Eagles told NBC 10 they had no comment on Thursday's incident.

I feel bad for the guy(big red), but you have to think these kids are just f'ups...

I wonder if this will have any affect on his coaching the team. They are adult children so he can't be held accountable for their actions but still I wonder if Goodell will be calling him about the conduct of his kids?!?

Are we sure they're addicts? Other than the fact that they go caught with guns/drugs and acting erratically, I've never heard that they are heroin addicts and alcoholics.

Plus, fuck them. They can be addicts and still practice in silence/obscurity. These kids are just assholes.

You would think so wouldn't you. But it doesn't work that way my friend. Extremely bad judgement goes hand in hand with addiction, FD. In fact, showing up at Dick's, acting beligerent, getting thrown out and running over a shopping cart is pretty tame actually.

But what you are asking of them is to be an addict behind closed doors. That would be an exercise in good judgement. That is like asking a fish to breathe air.

It is impossible for a rational minded, never addicted person to wrap their head around the actions of an addict. Be happy that is where you stand FD.

The fact that you think that you know some more functional addicts has nothing to do with these two dopes.

Addicts do stupid shit all the time, most of them just don't get followed by the media for doing so.

agreed seth, I know plenty of addicts and none of them have been arrested....twice....in 6 months...this is a kid who thinks he is above the law and has serious daddy issues.

This has to negatively effect Big Red, the players and his coaches. I wouldn't be shocked to see him step away after this season.

The only loose rule of thumb to determine if someone is an addict is that they have a hard time stopping and usually have had some trouble in their lives as a result.

That trouble is as varied as the millions of people who have suffered some level of addiction.

The funny part is that the same people who say that they know addicts who don't get in this kind of trouble are the same people who will tell you that someone isn't an alcoholic because they don't miss work blah blah blah.

How well the addict functions in society is not a good indicator of if the person is an addict or not.

no, i think the point people are trying to make is that the reid boys' behavior is not necessarily a function of addiction as much as it is that they seem to be spoiled jackasses with no regard for consequences.

So if Reid was sober, he would still be having the same problems that he gets into while intoxicated?

I'm not saying they aren't entitled little rich boys. I am saying that they are also struggling with addiction.

On a side note, rich kids make the worst addicts because so many people around them are enablers. Poor addicts either get sober or die.
