If Britt Reid gets arrested again, he may find himself playing for the Bengals.

Not to be outdone, Garrett is still doing Heroin:

NORRISTOWN, Pa. -- A son of Philadelphia Eagles coach Andy Reid failed a drug test while awaiting sentencing on drug charges.

Garrett Reid tested positive for a small amount of morphine and will be allowed only limited leave from his family's home in Villanova until his sentencing, a Montgomery County judge ruled. He is not permitted to drive, a prosecutor said.

The morphine could suggest the 24-year-old again used heroin, which he admitted using before a January car crash, senior deputy attorney general Marc Costanzo said. Reid faces a minimum of three days in jail on crash-related charges.

"It's hard to beat an intravenous ... heroin addiction. It's not easy," Costanzo said.

Reid spent time in an inpatient rehabilitation program after his arrest. Defense lawyer Ross Weiss declined to comment Friday about further treatment, but said he expects Reid to be sentenced within a month.

Reid's 22-year-old brother, Britt, was charged Wednesday with driving under the influence and drug violations while awaiting sentencing for a road-rage incident earlier this year. Police said they found painkillers, amphetamines and antidepressants when they searched him and his vehicle in the latest incident. His bail has been revoked, and he is in jail awaiting sentencing on drug and gun charges.

Andy Reid has declined comment on his sons' legal troubles.

In broken record news:

Sources: Garrett Reid Picked Up For Positive Drug Test

POSTED: 3:59 pm EDT October 30, 2007
UPDATED: 5:07 pm EDT October 30, 2007

Garrett Reid arrived at a Montgomery County adult probation office Tuesday afternoon and was then taken away by Montgomery County sheriff's deputies.

Sources told NBC 10 News that the 24-year-old's urine was tested last week and was positive for an opiate.

NBC 10 News cameras caught the eldest son of Eagles head coach Andy Reid leaving the family's Villanova home, arriving at the probation office in Bridgeport and then being taken back to prison.

BTW, if I was Reid I'd retire out of shame at this point.

Kids do some crazy stuff and it's not all the parents fault by any stretch, but when you end up with two MASSIVE gutterballs like this and brag about sleeping on the floor of your office 5 nights per week, 6 months per year, I'm going to go ahead and guess you wish you had a few of those nights back.

He's got to take one day at a time. Look back and learn from his mistakes, but not dwell on them. He has to focus on the next step going forward. You don't change your basic philosophy. You tweak things and continue to have faith that you'll pull through. Reid's sons will be alright.

He has to put them in a better position to not sneak heroin by him when he's on house arrest.

I know the overall opinion of PFT isn't high here, but their report on Reid's kid today appears to be facts of the case.

Of note:

-The judge called the Reid home a "drug emporium"

-The son decided that he liked pills enough to sneak 89 of them into jail with him. Yeah, he hid them where you think he hid them.

Anyone that thinks this mess doesn't take away a chunk of Reid's game planning time is crazy at this point.

Funny thing. I've longed for Reid to either step down or get fired for some time, but now I actually feel bad for the guy. I'd still love to see him step down, just not under these circumstances. I'm sure everyone feels the same way. Hopefully, the kids get their act together AND Reid resigns at season's end. Too good to be true?

Where's his messiah now?

Ok...that was mean. Don't know what to say. Reid really needs to take a hard look at himself and whether or not he put his boys in the "right position to succeed".

Meaner.

Something seems dysfunctional at the home. I find it odd and unlikely that two kids should go batshit crazy like that in an otherwise "normal" home. Gotta wonder.

I'm fairly certain that Mormonism is a rather restrictive (some say oppressive) religion, and it's natural for kids to rebel against restrictions. Throw addiction into the mix, along with parents who don't seem to be around, and you have a bad situation.

This really is a completely searing indictment of Reid's lack of parenting skills. I honestly don't see how the guy could continue to function in his job the same way from here on out unless he hates his kids.

He may feel that he can do both or he feels that he's beholden to a higher obligation ~ getting McNabb railroaded off the team.

McNabb disguises acid as tattos for little kids.

The other thing is that Lurie should consider himself an ass....at least I'll do that for him. But he should give Reid mandatory time off. The events he and his family are enduring are clearly life altering.

Jules, his kids are in jail now, so taking off now won't do anything.

But NTFF on the Mcnabb/acid/tattoo thing.

Funniest one yet

Not Britt, but the other one, per PFT:

Garrett Reid, the son of Eagles coach Andy Reid, reportedly will enter a guilty plea on drug smuggling charges.

Garrett Reid smugged 89 pills into jail last November. The pills were found while Garrett Reid was awaiting sentencing on other charges.

So how did he do the smuggling? Well, let’s just say we hope that the guy who was able to produce an endless stream of McDonald’s hamburgers during The Longest Yard employed a different method.

What the eff? Why is Reid still a coach?

If you can't keep your kids out of trouble like this, how can you expect a team to listen to you for guidance and motivation?

Andy: "Ok guys, I need to see more effort!"
McNabb: "Eff you, fat man, I'm going to shotgun a few beers before kickoff."
Westbrook: "Eh, who needs streching, it's not like the line is going to block for me anyway."
Runyan: *knocks out Westbrook*
Andy: "Oh well, time to count my money."

This kid is toast...

Sentenced by a 12 step brain washed judge...

To finish out an "inside out" 12 step jail program...

To spend the next two years in 12 step houses, monitored by a "sponsor", and being brain washed to believe he has a disease only god can set him free from.

Just to be clear that the treatment the court has mandated for him has about a 2% success rate.

Woo Hoo!

I apologize, I spoke incorrectly. The "offical" statistics for the success rate for 12 step programs is 2-5%. I don't want to misrepresent myself.

Just some more details.

Garrett is in the SIP (State Intermediate Punishment).

It takes you awhile to find what the "Theraputic" part of this program is, but it is indeed 12-step/NA/AA...

It is sad really. His parents can afford the best medical/psycholigical treament money can buy, they just don't know that they are being sold a bill of goods.

Imagine being brought up Mormon. You have been given a clear definition of what God is your whole life.

Now you need to beat an addiction and the y tell you you get to pick your own god and he will set you free from your addiction.

I feel bad for the kid on some level.

munch,
The SIP program's only been around since 2005 and has only been evaluated once (according to the website), with promising results.

I'm not disagreeing with you about the AA success rate, but a program that incorporates AA along with other measures to change lifestyle patterns, associations, and decision making skills isn't the same as just AA.

I guess that was my point.

NC,

When the SIP measures “success” they are basically looking for the person keep themselves out of trouble with the law for 6 months, one year, two years etc. They are measuring the rate of recidivism. All of these programs have a certain measure of success with recidivism, because they convince the addict to be more careful not to get caught.

When I talk about how useless AA/NA/12-step programs are, I am talking about the rate of recovery.

The fact that a program as new as the SIP incorporates a “therapeutic” program with a 2-5% success rate proves how short sighted it is and how disinterested it is in the addict actually recovering.

There have been significant advances in medical and psychological treatment for addicts, yet the state created programs keep falling back on 12 step ideology. I think that is a shame given the resources the Reid’s have that their son has been forced into a program that incorporates a method with a 2-5% rate of recovery.
