I don't get the game, but I'm trying to listen to it free at http://www.wmgm1037.com
If anyone is watching, and something good or important happens, please post it.

I'd like to know how Gocong is doing. Missed the 1st half, but Mike Quick had his analysis (he made a great stop on the lead blocker on one play!), so I'm looking for something a lil' more objective.
I'm still annoyed at Quick for saying Reid's white flag in NO was "the right call".

I skimmed the first half on Tivo so far.
Bloom was subpar again. He had a quick burst on a return, but as soon as he gets touched he goes right down. GLew also had some returns and looks like the better option.
Hunt had some nice runs early.
Gasperson looks decent again. I hope he sticks.
Starting LB core did nothing noteworthy while they were in the game.
Feeley got blindsided while rolling out, but he popped back up quick.
That's all I recall...

Jets 13, Eagles 11. Yeah, that's right. Kinda takes some of the steam out of that four-game sweep of the Mets, huh?
Uh, right?
Anybody?

It was a craptacular crapfest that put me to sleep early last night, but I decided to finish it this morning over breakfast. Here's what i think I learned:
- Tony hunt ran the ball pretty well, but it's also evident that his short area speed (not quickness) is terrible and he runs far too high. If they can teach him to run lower he has a chance to be a good all around player and I actually like him best in the passing game. When he gets a chance to build steam he is an absolute mack truck, but he rarely levels the boom on someone unless he can build up a running start. I honestly can't remember a somewhat recent back who runs that upright other than maybe Chris Brown. Even Eddie George and Jamal Lewis ran a little lower. He tried to get low to finish a run last night on one play and the defender was so much lower that he ended up getting speared in the gut. He did show some power last night, though. The one pass he caught resulted in maybe a 12 yard gain and when he hit the would be tacklers, 3 bodies just sprayed all over the field like bowling pins, which was fun.
- Kolb looks to be the real deal. he started really slowly (2-8, maybe) and got white hot as the game progressed. I'm not sure what he finished with, but he was really sharp (completing 14 straight passes to end the game and going 10-10 on a 90 yard TD drive) and threw a really nice TD pass to Zack Collie. He had another pretty 35 or 40 yard TD pass called back on a bogus PI call in another part of the field. All in all, he looks like a real player.
- Abiamiri looked good and was consistently beating his man.
- Reagor looks like he's getting his legs back, but beats his man consistently in his limited snaps. I think he's going to help them a lot this year if he can stay healthy.
- Gocong was pretty much invisible when he played...not good or bad.
- I think Gaddis is the 4th safety. He might not be as consistent as Paschal, but he's got more speed and potential, IMO.
- I don't know who is going to make the team between Barksdale and Graham. They both play really physical football, but (for what it's worth) they didn't really throw the ball on Barksdale last night while Graham was frequently targeted. He made all the tackles and did so with authority, but the idea is for the passes to not be completed on you. again, not sure what that's worth. Barksdale's biggest contribution of the night was a 15 yard unsportsmanlike that kept the Jets winning rive alive. He also told McNaulty to "fuck off" and pontificated on the flawed, but innovative concept of Hampsterdam.
- Iloha kinda sucks. He runs with no power or quickness. For 250, he goes down like the Swedish Women's Mogul team on Bloom. I do like Iloha in the screen/passing game quite a bit, though. Those skills, in this offense, might earn him a PS spot.
- Speaking of Bloom, he looked a little quicker/faster, but he can't find the seam to save his life. I wasn't sure if the East/West problem he was having was a product of the blocking or simply bad returns, but they showed some great footage last night clearly showing the seam and he attempted to bounce it out. My guess is it's the contact after getting beat up in that first game. Bloom will not kill them and could get better. He's an upgrade over Mahe. With that said, I'd be combing the wire and talking to teams over the next couple days to see who might be available. The Jets scrub returner, Chauncey Stuckey, was very good. I wonder if he's going to be released or make the team? They did make it Bloom's job to lose, handing him all but one total return that I saw. That was handled by Ducky, who did an OK job on his punt return but looked horribly unnatural and fielded/returned a punt almost over the shoulder from the 3 yard line (which clearly illustrated one reason it might not be a good idea to go with him).
- Rocca might have lost himself a job, unfortunately. I still hope they give him a shot, but he didn't punt as well as he had been punting, he muffed a hold (which was a terrible snap, but could have been a big plus if he got it down), and didn't get the laces out on the next one, resulting in another miss. Thankfully, Rocca and Koy's Boy got the last one down and through, but I fear Rocca might have given the coaching staff too much to think about...
- Jean Gilles doesn't dominate the way you'd hope. It seems like for all his size, he's a finesse guy. He also blew two consecutive assignments that led to highlight reel mashings of Feeley and possibly his broken left hand (which isn't believed to be serious).
- Justice played well and Pat McCoy, who was putrid earlier in the pre-season, didn't stick out as bad, which is better.
- Marques Murrell won't make the team, but played well at DE. He's basically a young stunt double for Juqua Thomas and had 2 sacks/2 FF. He would be a prime practice squad candidate, though.
- Akeem Jordan, IMO, should make this team. Gaither, Gocong, Spikes, McCoy, and Bradley are locks and they'll likely keep 1 more backer between Jordan, Tank, and Roper. Roper blows, Tank didn't make a single play this pre-season, and Jordan was all over the field. I don;t know how you deny him a roster spot unless you can justify it by stashing him on the PS and keeping Daniels, who may no longer be eligible.
- Jeremy Clark probably earned himself a roster spot over Ian Scott. I was thinking this whole time that Scott could be PUP'ed and they could re-evaluate him in 6 weeks, but heard last night that since he practiced 1 time, he's not eligible for PUP. He's either cut, on the roster, or on IR. Not good.
- Kevin Kolb's dad was hilarious when they interviewed him. Picture McNabb's parents and then picture the exact opposite...you have Kolb's old man. He doesn't seem to have a filter and while he was rooting for his son to play well, he was FAR more harsh on his son's play than the knob slobber going on in the booth. They also brought up some of his parenting tactics, such as turning his back and walking away whenever Kolb would fall as a child so he'd learn to get up and go on without help or support. Seemed like a really honest guy who didn't have a problem pointing out Kolb looked tired and sloppy through his first few snaps (they interviewed him during that 2-8 start). He also seemed like a really nice guy, but wasn't easy to please, I'm sure.
Whatever...pre-season is finally over.

I watched a lot of the game early and all of it later (after the re-broadcast of the Phils fantastic finish was over on CSN)& generally would echo most of what FD stated above- most signifigantly that I honestly wondered last nite if Scott's out on the street, how they could keep Jordan off the roster in some capacity, and that the Aussie Wonder may be toast after last nite.
Heard this am that its suspected that Feeley will not be available for at least 4 wks. and that Kolb would be the back up to McNabulous in that span. They do not want to add a QB cos that would mean they'd have to carry 4, (as they're not going to put AJ on IR) and then another cut would have to be made in order to do so.
But the 2 main things I was prepared to post this morning surround Supah 4.
This guy has an "it" quality thats equal parts poise, extreme confidence, smarts and a knack to find a guy open. Even when a guy is covered, he's so accurrate that he doesnt shy away from throwin it in there and it gets there. I think they honestly have something very very special in this kid.
And the Dad.
Wow. FD, you said it. What a refreshing break from the tacky, chip on shoulder, "im doin you a favor by letting you up here to talk to me while you stand in the Bedazzled Box our Son's unappreciated talents yielded".
The guy honestly reminded me a TON of our own Dean-O in the approach/attitude of the guy.
Lastly, Spuds was tryin to put out the talk in the booth over Kolb, as if he was panicked that they were goin to open a can of worms and it was up to him to quell it- with all this "The Eagles could have a situation where Kolb could be the back up, he's played so well".
He used a Garcia analogy, said "Andy wouldnt do that to AJ as he didnt do it to Garcia last yr when the fans wanted AJ" almost belligerently....THEN CAME BACK AGAIN in what seemed to be an unscripted 'throw it to Spuds" and essentially just reiterated how Kolb shouldnt see the field this yr tho his future is certainly very bright.
Tee hee.
I love when he thinks he needs to go into dammage control on behalf of the F.O. or Andy.

Saw them talking about Kolb's dad and how his toughness has translated into him being tough in the NFL, hopefully. I wonder what Momma McNabb thinks of that?
Since Kolb has thrown more passes this pre-season than anyone else, could this mean we're going to see him sooner rather than later? The commentators mentioned the possibility of him being the #2, but they quickly shot that down due to his performance only against 2nd stringers and that AJ was brought in specifically to be the #2.
Iloha looked nice on that screen, but I don't like how he shies away from contract. Seems like every time I've seen him run, he turns his back and takes the hit instead of driving his shoulder into the guy to pick up a few yards. Not to mention he's been taking more hits than giving out. And the fumbling has GOT to go, even if he's on the PS.

I wonder what Momma McNabb thinks of that?
For a mother to her son, he is to be cherished. But why not?
His strength is showed both without and within, but those who do not see, I suppose their loss is another's gain.
While it was an honor to meet Mr. Kolbs when viewing his interview from our team provided luxury box, it was bittersweet. We love the Donovan's Eagles and wish them for success, but at the same time we wonder why not bring the cameras on us? That's for you to decide, but we provide nothing but non-careance.
If Kolb's love is non-parental, we wish for him to fine comfort. Why not?
This is for the message to all on the eve of more season.
- Momma

How dare you fools quote me.
There is only one Momma McNabb and don't you fools forget it.
That white boy Kolb can't carry my son's gym bag.
My son will show all of you again this year the superstar he really is.
Love to All

Rocca might have lost himself a job, unfortunately. Thankfully, Rocca and Koy's Boy got the last one down and through, but I fear Rocca might have given the coaching staff too much to think about...
The laces out one was bad, but on the bad snap it looked to me like he DID get it down but Akers had already given up. I watched the replay a couple times on Tivo and it looked like if Akers had kept going it would have been down. That said, if Akers doesn;t have confidence in him he's gotta go I guess. Since Feeley broke his hand maybe they can sign Koy to hold and keep Rocca. hehe.
I am one of the biggest McNabb guys here probably, but Kolb looks like the real deal. That TD pass was absolutely perfect. He really looks in control back there and he made Feeley look like the rookie by comparison.
If McNabb goes down I'd feel more comfortable with Kolb than Feeley. Not kidding.

I watched the second half this afternoon.
Kolb looks pretty solid for a rookie. He has real promise.
Outlaw and Gasperson were the standouts at WR for me.
Iiola (or whatever his name is) brings some fire to his game, but it doesn't always pan out in yardage.
Bloom is entirely one-dimensional. I didn't see a lot of east/west from him in this game. In fact, I'd say he runs pretty fast upfield until he hits the first blocker to make contact, at which point he is immediately slowed or tackled. If we want someone that can run straight then fall down without fumbling, I guess that is Bloom. At least GLew can bounce off a grab or two first.

Are you kidding me? Feeley really WAS injured on that play? Great. Just great. I thought it was a running joke until I checked the official site.
I hate when I'm right on injuries. When Feeley got hit on that play, I was telling my wife that he was probably hurt. Then he bounced up and walked off like he was fine. I guess not.
