Browns traded back into the first round (Dallas' #20 pick) to take Brady Quinn. Browns also had the 3rd overall pick and selected OT Joe Thomas.

It cost the Browns their first pick next year to get Dallas' #20 this year.

I originally thought the Eagles got one of Dallas' first round picks (either theirs or the Browns) next year when the Birds traded their first pick to the Boys this year. But that was not the case.

Incidentally, a few picks later the Niners traded back into the first round with the Patriots... what did it cost the Niners? You guessed it... their first round pick next year.

Hold on a second there, Johnson. No one in the Eagles FO has EVER screwed up with the precious...ever. The Eagles must have known that getting a first rounder next year would have put them in second place in the salary cap sweeps. Or just imagine how badly it would have looked to have taken Kolb in the FIRST round this season?

Do we have a list of the exact trades? I think the rule of thumb is you can trade a late first/2nd round round pick for a future first (and a 4th or so in the case of the late 1st) OR you can trade back, get a reasonably high high round pick and a midround pick.

Looking at that draft, it's really depressing to see 3 of the 8 precious not even make the squad, but hopefully the other will pan out over time...good prospects.
