however, a championship defense. heck, even just a good defense doesnt let a team go the length of the field in just 1:35 mins at the end of the half, or right after the offense shows some spark, allows the team to go the length of the field again and take a lead that was cut to 4, back up to 11.

a defense can do more than just not allow points to help a team win. making crucial stops and getting off the field quickly when the offense has just started to gain some momentum can help change the outcome, no matter how many points your offense scores.

or how about giving your offense a short field to work with. those here who long for the buddy ryan days will remember how many times the defense set up TD's by getting a turnover deep in the opposing territory, or by scoring points themselves.
