Iggs looked good today. The defense made the stops when needed and the offense finally find themselves. Kevin Curtis had a great day..

Any updates on Westy?

Yeah, McNabb's going back to the brace because he likes to dance whilst being totally immobile.. at the same time! He knows the fans love this. Brace yourselves.

Great day for Westbrook — Three TDs and X-rays are negative --Philadelphia Inquirer
That's on google news, except you can't (or at least I can't) pull up the page.

Westbrook has bruised ribs. X-Rays are negative. MRI tomorrow.

The fact that Green Bay beat San Diego says that they might be legit and the first game loss from the Eagles wasn't just from being off offensively.

"Trade Mcnott now, His value will never get better and this game was an abberation."

cant be done this yr. when you trade a player on a LTC, the unapplied signing bonus would cause a cap hit so large, the eagles to have to cut others just to trade mcnabb.

and this past monday, i watched reid a lot on the sideline. he didnt have his head in the playchart very much when the eagles had the ball, but marty did. like it or not, marty's called the plays all yr so far.

i can believe marty has been callin the plays all yr. he seems to be a pass to set up the run coordinator. most games at the end of last season were 50/50 but alot of the running came in the second half of games. i still think he is waaaaaaaaaaay more balanced than reid, and was prob off balance the last two games b/c we were playing from behind and there was prob some pressure to get mcnabb some big stat days. i guess they realized that with a good running attack mcnabb can have even more yds and tds with even fewer attempts.

The P/R ratio is good against a shitty defense. Giants are 'prob' reviewing tapes as we speak. I wouldn't count on Westbrook to elude or Nabb to do wonders next week. I'm not saying the Giants' D is great, more like standard. I think the overall sentiment of this game was probably more stunned than happy.

Giants winning makes things interesting. Instead of getting an opponent who's counting the days until the end of the season, they're somewhat fired up.

The Birds will still win, because them shutting down Washington's offense isn't exactly a big deal, but if they play with the same fire that they did today, there should be no problems.

Of course, it IS before a bye...

I met a Giants fan on Saturday was telling me the Eagles would have no trouble with the Giants because they're defense was soooo bad. Their secondary especially is suspect.

But today the Giants did a lot better. They have Spagnuolo as the new defensive coordinator and a lot of players have been out of position the first two games. And Burress had his usual big plays.

Next Sunday's game should be good.

If Lito is back, I like the Birds' chance. The lack of Tiki changes things, but the Gints have a fair amount of fire power. Toomer, Shockey and Burress are pretty good....and the syndromic looking Eli could deliver them the ball if he's given time.

I'm hoping McNabb is back on track. I hope Curtis is featured as a slot WR where he'll get covered by the nickel or dime CB. I think Avant and R Brown would be the better starting two. If Curtis proves he can get off press coverage, then I'm hopeful for the offense.

I don't know about the Giants IMO the Eagles lost the game against the Skins, they have a good QB for the future but he is there yet if the Birds played with half the crispness they did today they would've destroyed the Skins... I think we'll see the Giants implode starting this week against the Birds... but that is for later in the week, enjoying this win for a day or so, and hope it's one of the games replayed on the NFL network this week...

Heh...much less chatter after a win than a loss.

?uestion: maybe a stoopid one, but I was wondering why the Lions didn't play press coverage after watching what the Pack and Skins did to this offense. Is it a matter of personnel or coaching philosophy or a combo of the two? You hear all the time that it's a copycat league, and since they (the Eagles) were bitchslapped by the previous two schemes, can't help but think the Lions coaches blew it, but I could be very wrong.

The Loins' CBs are bad and you saw it the way they played D. Bryant was lined up on Curtis more than a few times and gave him about a 10 yard cushion. That stuff gets you killed playing against this team.

Side note - Washington beat them with a combination of press coverage to knock off their timing, and zone coverages to take away the short pass. The Lions just aren't good enough on D to pull that off. It was hilarious watching them scramble around as the Eagles' offense just played with them, especially with the off-tackle runs that seemed to go on for miles. And it's not that their tackling was great, either.

The Lions staff lost them this game even before they got on the field - their offense basically said "We're going to pass all over you" and the D responded by saying "Thanks for making yourself so one-dimensional". Even if they had run the ball only a few times, they would've stood a better chance. Martz called 3 runs in the first half (I think). Imagine how well that would've run here.

Also consider that GB has a very good front 4 that put a done of pressure on Mcnabb in combination with the press coverage. So that made it all the more effective. Redskins while not having a great front 7 still were able to get a good push againest the Birds o-line and they also pressed. The Lions D-line couldnt get a sniff of Mcnabb, their secondary is wretched and their LB's couldnt tackle. So you saw what the outcome of those shortcomings were.

Couple of thoughts:

Is it too late to put out an APB on Reggie Brown?

When the sideline reporter showed the Eagles' throwup jersey, they had Reno Mahe's. Why?

I didn't want to shit on the throwbacks until I saw them in a game (with helmets, pants, etc.), but after seeing them in action I can say with certainty that they were the worst throwbacks uniforms ever worn in an NFL game.

They made Arena League uniforms look professional.

Just going by what I heard.

1. There was a lot more movement on the offensive side against the Lions. Where did I hear that? (Was it this thread?) (Was it one of the players?)

2. The Lions played the same basic defense as Washington (according to Reid).

3. The Lions played press and it didn't work, so then they gave a lot of cushion and that wasn't working (announcer during the game, I think)

When Jevon Kearse had the penalty, the Eagles pulled him out of the game. Does anyone know if that was for the rest of the game or just for that series?

2. The Lions played the same basic defense as Washington (according to Reid).

If they were, they were doing a very poor job of it. They certainly didn't have the personnel, and the LBs were either out of position on the plays or missing tackles. They even switched to a Bear D (based on Balldingle's commentary) and even having 8 up on the line didn't really stop the run.

I can't remember where I read it, but apparently the Lions DB weren't playing press coverage this week but were giving a huge cushion.
