Many theories are circulating as to how the Eagles were able to hang 56 points on the Lions. A popular hypothesis is the Lions were hypnotized by the Eagles' "throwback" uniforms.

We know fashion is subjective and, to many NFL fans, irrelevant. But a team's uniforms never should be so ugly that they are a distraction.

The Eagles' selection of attire was intended to celebrate the franchise's 75th season. But the chosen color scheme, which seemed to be more of an homage to the Brazilian soccer team than to the City of Philadelphia's official flag, made the Eagles look nothing like the team the football world has come to know.

So why not bring back the old green and gray uniforms, from the days of Reggie White? Or the white helmets with the green feathers?

Here's an idea as to why the Eagles ultimately chose the yellow-and-blue monstrosities. They are hoping to sell as many jerseys and hats and other stuff with these other colors as possible, and a throwback based on a green-and-white approach would have resulted in gear that looks too much like the stuff typically available for purchase.

The fact the Eagles parlayed throwback day into a game for the ages should help convince folks to cough up more money to get some tangible memento of an afternoon in which, at least for now, all was well with the City of Brotherly Love's pro football team.

Brazil is yellow and green with a little blue.

And if that were the case, the cheerleaders should have been wearing thongs.

For those who don't know or for those who do and forgot the colors are the official colors of the city of Philadelphia.

I also read some rag today that said that these uniforms will be worn again this year.

They can continue to wear them every week as long as they score 50 points or more.

It's the same reason the Delaware State flag is light blue and yellow. It was a dedication to the huge amount of Sweedes that founded the area. So they took the colors of the Swedish flag. Tell em'fagel...
