I still think Jackson will be something special. Iverson? I don't think he's anywhere near that level of talent or drama.

Part of this is hype. The team knows it needs to get a star WR to make Donnie happy. However, they don't want to pay one/trade for one enough to meet the needs required (and probably for good reason too), so they're left with home grown talent.

Jackson was the number one WR I had tagged for this years draft. That he's actively going out and learning from guys like Rice what to do (and not just avoid the jam) is another plus. He'll play likely as a 4th or 5th option this year max though, it will be years 2 and 3 that he'll push for playingtime (coaches permitting).

I still say if Jackson does well, that means Brown becomes a bust though.

Its by a sportswriter, no balls necessarily.

Paul Domowich ranks the NFL's top teams.

You'll be happy to know that he ranks both Seattle and The Browns ahead of Philly.

I would not.

The others are no brainers.

He's got the Birds ranked 11th.
I'd have em around 8 or 9 as the rosters stand now.

Based on the way things are listed there, I'd agree (8 or 9). Seattle, Green Bay, and the mistake by the lake can get the nod based on their finish last year, but I think the Eagles are as good or better than any of those teams.

Right now, Andy is on Eskin's how- they are in a heated duel, trying to out unfunny each other to death.

Just painful. As was Reid's response to Eskin asking him about Westbrook's comments on thinking "as an elite player in the league, he deserved a raise".
A lot of stammering, stuttering, and "well, every player is gonna say that".

Nevermind that he's one of the best in the league, right Andy?

Even better- McNabb will be on Eskin's show next Wednesday taking calls.

I won't miss that, you may even hear me make my debut

And if we were to listen in (for entertainment purposes), how would we identify you in your debut?

"Even better- McNabb will be on Eskin's show next Wednesday taking calls"

So will Spuds call in 50 times using different voices? Or will his head explode when they ask a tough question?

Actually, I think McNabb can handle it just fine. It will be interesting to see if he stays by the company line, or let's himself be more candid.

Either way, you better get your popcorn ready- the comedy set is about to start.

There's no good place for this, so I thought I'd just put it here.

Spuds did an interview with that creepy bean counting rat, Joe "Cheese Sandwich and Brown Cardigan" Banner.

This was one of his quotes:

"Last year, when we took our first-round pick and traded to Dallas, I remember doing an interview and saying, 'We got Kevin Kolb, Stewart Bradley and Brent Celek and we think those players will compare favorably to the player Dallas selected, linebacker Anthony Spencer.' In fact, as I said, last year we got more out of those three picks than Dallas got out of its one."

Celek wasn't actually part of that deal. CJ Gaddis was the guy they took with the pick acquired from Dallas.

Someone brought that to the attention of Spuds on the Eagles message board and this is the response Spuds gave:

"Mr. Banner is aware of whom the Eagles took in the draft with what picks. He chooses to portray it this way"

I don't know why, but that got a NTF from me.

what's funny is that you actually could defend banner's comment in a way that doesn't make you sound like a teenage fanboy with tears welling up in your eyes.

I know several variations of this line has been used on the board before, but the thought of Joe Banner eating a cheese sandwich and wearing a brown cardigan just makes me laugh for whatever reason.

Les Bowen with a little shot at GCobb, methinks:

Also, Lorenzo Booker, the Brian Westbrook complement the Eagles got from Miami. Booker is more of a third-down back than Westbrook - he doesn't have Westbrook's stubby, powerful frame. But he sure seems to be able to run a pattern and catch a pass. Andy Reid likes backs who do that, the Daily News has learned.
