I was talking with AE this weekend and he brought up an interesting point, after the season the Birds trade #5 to the Bears for 2-3 1st round picks dependig on his play this year...
That got me thinking a little bit, what if Reid is planning to ship Donovan off to Chi or maybe even Minn for a couple of draft picks. To usher in the era of the Kolb, then he uses those picks to get a stud WR and either an upgrade at T OR another RB to help BW... If they keep playing the way they are a top 10 or maybe even top 5 pick is in the future plus at least one of the picks for McNabb this year (1st this year and next)
Sorry I know it's only 4 games in but it's the bye week and unfortunately the Phillies don't look like they will continue much further. Any way just a thought and I don't see much else to talk about right now...

The best part of that deal will occur when Reid then trades one of the #1s to another team for all of their 6th and 7th round picks for the next four years.
A #1 pick for 4 6th-rounders and 4 7th rounders will have Spuds leaning hard on Roget to come up with the right adjectives to describe the greatest trade in NFL history.

Here's the Future;
2007 - End of 5 era (6-10). 5 is blamed for the turmoil in the locker room as he is swept out the door.
2008 - Kolb era begins (5-11), but this is a "retooling" year for the Offense, so expectations lowered to Silver Standard.
2009 - Jim Johnson & BDawk's last year (7-9). Offense sputters under Kolb and a part-time BWest (injuries) plus the system of new Offensive Coordinator, Juan Castillo.
2010 - Defensive Coordinator, John Harbaugh, introduces a 3-4 that can't stop the run (5-11). Again due to shuffling personnel & a new scheme, expectations lowered to Bronze Standard. Reid gets 3 year extension.
2011 - BWest retires and RB Commitee averages 5.2 yards per carry yet only 14 carries per game (5-11). The Eagles are now the Zinc standard.
2012 - Reid steps down as Head Coach to take over as President of Football Operations and Concession Stand Quality Control Officer. New Head Coach, Juan Castillo becomes the first Hispanic Head Coach in the NFL, agreeing to do the job for what he made as an OC (6-10). Cubic Zirconia Standard.

I think they can get more than a #1 for him (maybe a 1st, 5th and another player), but Reid will abuse him so much that it'll undercut any chance of the Eagles getting any value for him whatsoever.
It's one of those conundrums that comes with being a coach and GM - Reid the coach will never put McNabb in a position to succeed and look good, and therefore Reid the GM won't be able to even get close to top $ for him.

And the reason I think they can get more for him is because Chicago's desperate for a QB, and this year will show them just how messed up they are in that position, and how they screwed up in not grabbing Leftwich (even if it meant getting rid of one of their "established" QBs).

McNabb could go to the Vikes, Ravens, Chicago, Falcons, or Jets. The Birds will probably release him and absorb the cap hit the last day of camp ala Simon and Trotter part 1.
I hate this FO.

bass, your boy Leftwich looked phenomenal today.
I've never seen anyone throw passes into the stands with such precision.

Not just into the stands. 20 rows into the stands. My guess is Leftwitch was peeing in a cup after the game.

He just thought the end zones were 50 yards wide, that's all.
