Just some general observations I got from watching the Jets/Giants game today:
1. The Jets special teams looks good, especially on the returns.
2. The Jets running game wasn't really clicking, but they kept at it. The pass/run was kept at 50/50 for most of the game, and it set up PA nicely for them. (early on)
3. The Jets no huddle was very effective against the Giants until they got behind. The Eagles need to start strong and stay focused for an entire game, which is not exactly their forte so far this season.
4. The Jets WR were able to get good separation from the Giants secondary, allowing them to use the TE for blocking the Giants 4 DE lines...
5. ... but Pennington still makes dumb mistakes. I saw him throw off his back foot while falling away more than once. (the one lobbed pick to Ross comes to mind) Combine that with his noodle arm, and I think the Eagles secondary will be given some chances to make big plays regardless of what else the Jets do.
6. The Jets LB's are not all that great in pass coverage against the TE's. Schobel and Celek should have big days assuming McNabb can actually find them. (and assuming that they don't have to constantly stay in for blocking)
7. Mangini seems to be able to make almost instant adjustments. Case in point: when Mangold went out for a while and their new center was struggling on the count for the shotgun snaps, the Jets immediately put Pennington under center. Granted that seems like a no-brainer adjustment, but I'm so used to Reid's inability to adjust at any point, I expect Andy to be thoroughly out-coached again.
8. The Jets OL had absolutely NO problem with the Giants defensive front. (even when they blitzed on 3rd and longs) I am really worried about JJ’s scheme for stopping anything at this point.
9. The Jets DL has improved against the run, but they are still not a good unit as a whole. They seemed fairly susceptible to the run on the outside, even with 2-4 LBs on the line in obvious running scenarios for the Giants. Here’s hoping the rushing game finds its way into the Eagles playbook early and often
10. Ultimately, I think the Jets lost due to poor execution from their players. They seems to be a team with potential that just isn’t getting production from the skill positions when it matters. They are a lot like the Eagles at this point, and the game next week should spell the end of any “realistic” play-off scenario for the loser.

The Eagles should be able to run on them, but will they? Reid was ripping off chunks of yardage but refused to go back to the run because it conflicted with his gameplan.
The more interesting matchup should be Jericho Cotchery against the Eagles' secondary. He's very impressive at getting open, and he doesn't go down easily. Should be interesting, since Brown should be on him (and Coles on Shep, if he's healthy).
I almost expect the Jets to show multiple looks, keeping the offense off-balance, but they don't have the kind of personnel that should be able to keep Westbrook under wraps.
Should be an interesting game.

The Jets stink. If the Eagles lose to them it will only be because the Eagles suck worse.

They suck. And that's a thought from my 28-year lifespan, not just today.

I hear you, the Jets do suck. (so do the Eagles right now) I was just bored at home with the future in-laws in town, and this was the "local" game that was broadcast in Tucson. I just posted that to compare my so called scouting to what the Eagles try to do next week. I really hate the bye week.

The Giants thought/knew they would get a few chances to pick off Pennington's passes. They didn't blitz him the way they did the Eagles last week. They took away the run and tried to dictate which passes he could throw while applying some pressure. Chad doesn't have much of an arm. The Eagles should feast on him.
The Jets threw everything they had at the Giants in the first half. They're a middle of the road team. I don't see your birds having too much trouble beating them.

By the way, wait until you guys see the uniforms the Jets are trotting out on Sunday... old NY Titans jerseys. Think Pitt Panthers from the late 70s.

Sorry, didn't complete that... they're every bit as bad as the UCLA rip-offs the Eagles put out there last month.

Pennington is very accurate in his throws, and usually reads the defense very well. The Eagles will look easy compared to the other teams he goes up against.

I actually think Philly wins this 1 rather easily.
May be the 1st time I take em this yr other than the Lions game.
They'll win REALLY convincingly if Fat Bastage runs the damn ball (and Im talkin Buckhalter seein a good # of carries this wk to spell Westy. Double whammy, lotsa running).
1st team to have fans spell the name: 31
2nd to the party: 14.
(The Birds will give up a S.T. TD to Washington this wknd tho.)
