But don't you think the penalty was the tipping point for him being cut?

I mean, he's sucked for 1.5 years now, but it wasn't until he committed a really dumbass penalty that he was axed.

Weird move. Definite bust as a player...just too small. However, other than the penalty, hasn't he been one of the better special teams coverage players on the team?

I do like Jordan. He's actually a little smaller than McCoy, but he looked good in the pre-season and I was surprised he didn't make the final 53 as a special teams player/reserve.

Reid was asked last night if that was the reason why he was cut, and he said no. There was talk on one of the locals last night that cutting McCoy was to send a message of accountability to the rest of the team. Let's hope that story about McNabb not being held to the same light doesn't rear its head again.

gcobb had another theory, that the eagles waited until after a win to cut him, knowing the backlash of cutting yet another undersized, underperforming high draft pick after another loss might lead to a town rebellion.

Gcobb cracks me up. I like some of what he says and some of what he writes (including this) might have merit.

Yeah, but they are also the ones who said they drafted McCoy so high "because the Patriots were going to draft him".
