oh well I just had some water and a cigarette instead to chilly to got out for crap...

OK the way I see it the Eagles still have a talented Defense, the secondary is IMO better now that Reed and Mikel are subbing for Considine... and the fact that Johnson FINALLY benched Mr. Kingsford (although his replacement is 5'2") I think the secondary is solid. So put Brown on Moss all day(what he should have done to T.O. did it the last time and TO was all but shut down) then have either Lito or Hanson on Welker which ever is better with the speed guy probably Hanson... Then you're 9 on 9 Donte doesn't bother me a bit, so the front 7 have to get pressure on Brady with this thing called a BLITZ. The TE is good but coverable by the LB's and the Eagles run D has been pretty good this year so that should be ok as well...

This leaves ST's and the Offense oh well, I guess the Defens emight be able to stay with them for a little while like the Cowboys did and Colts did but they will fall apart the same way; the D will get tired because the Offense and ST keeps them on the filed in bad position through the first half...

Dam I just realized this isn't a quart of water it's a liter of vodka... well it's the only way I'll get the warm fuzzy feeling as far as football is concerned...

The ONLY way to have a chance against the Pats is to pressure Brady. The Birds racked up, anyone? anyone? how many sacks against the rookie Dolphin QB on the road in his first start? Beuller?

JJ's "complex blitzing" has been figured out by the rest of the league and the front four can't get pressure on a High School JV QB by themselves.

It will be a huge victory if they cover

It's embarrassing how often he gets owned.

Everyone talks about the "exotic blitzing", but it's just sad how far away the opposing offenses see it coming.

On so many levels you have no idea.

Back to the point. I wouldn't have placed the bet if the Pats hadn't destroyed Buffalo the way they did and caught so much flack for it.

The Pats can't possibly keep up this pace every single game, I'm just betting that this is the game they falter with this HUGE line. And by falter I mean winning by less than 23 points.

He's got nothing left in the tank. The LBs have zero sacks, Cole is starting to wear down AGAIN, and the secondary is toast. JJ might as well blitz 12 and hope for the best.

So put Brown on Moss all day(what he should have done to T.O. did it the last time and TO was all but shut down) then have either Lito or Hanson on Welker which ever is better with the speed guy probably Hanson...

On problem with that logic, Tat...the Birds' secondary has been subpar the past few games. Minnesota had guys running open all day and couldn't capitalize; TO was knifing through them with ease; and they couldn't even get a "coverage sack" against a rookie QB.

With all that, and we expect them to be able to cover those three? Doubling Moss and covering Welker underneath only gives room for Stallworth, who's probably still pissed about that Mary Jane thing. And watch Gaffney catch a TD, if only to spite Reid.

I know this should go in the Reid failures thread BUT the comments about JJ having nothing left in the tank is another failure... Why you may ask, simple who was their secondary coach last year that now has the Giants D looking unstopable?!? Steve Spagnola...

He's let at least TWO good replacements for JJ go Spags and Ron Rivera, inexcusable...

bass my pint about how to stop the pats using those guys to cover was my only thought of how they might be able to do it, because IF you remember TO was covered by Hanson, Kingsford, Considine, almost never by Brown who is IMO their only real cover corner, IF they had looked Brown on TO all day they would have held TO to a much less productive day... Brown would have played more physical and jammed him at the line which is, by TO's own admission, his weakness... He said that Brown jams him and gives him problems and Lito plays off in order to try and make the big play... It's all a moo point, like a cows opinion it doesn't matter the birds will get smoked...

I'm not in love with either of those guys (more impressed with Rivera than Spags), but this is part of Reid's biggest weakness.

He believes consistency in approach, in personnel, and in management/coaching is all that matters. It's important to have some consistency, but there isn't a single coaching staff in the league that has been in place as long as the Eagles.

Eventually, consistency turns into complacency. Everyone is too safe in their jobs, everyone thinks alike, and you end up a with a staff that believes is has assembled a Super Bowl squad each year and blames the players (they acquired) when they fail.

And the best part is the one measly coach who got a head job is terrible.

New England produces head coaches almost every year. Parcells spawned coaches left and right.

Cowher's coaching tree produced something like 7 head coaches.

Reid, "offensive genius", sent one sad soul out into the world as a head coach and his offense blows dick.

Apparently the rest of the league can see these guys don't know what they're doing, too.

Adding to that, the second best part is when his first "disciple" got pushed out of the nest, his priorities were:

- Add heavily through free agency.

- Pay huge money to Chester Taylor.

- Draft Adrian Peterson in the top 10 before year 2.

Thank Science he was nice enough to send the Eagles goodwill picks/players for Artis Hicks, Billy Ball McMullen, and Kelly "don't bother changing your address at the DMV" Holcomb.

I don't think that's COMPLETELY the case - there was talk of JJ going to coach somewhere else before he got re-upped, and Spags has been able to at least hide some of the Giants' defensive deficiencies a little bit. If anything, the Giants probably figured Spags' knowledge would account for at least 2 division wins.

It's a shame, really - the NFC for the past 5 years has been missing a powerhouse, and the Eagles were in prime position to be that powerhouse had they not been afraid to think outside the box - and the one time they did, they got closer than they've ever been.

He got stonewalled for the head coaching jobs, so he stayed. Nobody wanted a 75 year old defensive coordinator to be the face of their franchise.

I love JJ, but they just need fresh blood infused into this stale organization.

OK FD, point. Didn't know about that bit.

And I doubt anyone on here doesn't agree that they need some fresh blood on defense - his philosophy is stale, even if the players have become new.

So who's next in line, since they won't hire from outside? Harbaugh?

Fellas, we have grown men on both sides of this game, sitting there facing family and friends over the next few days. You think that this epic point spread won't be brought up somewhere along the line? You think that might just have some kind of effect on how each side might approach this game? Yeah, the Pates are football gods and all that but who's got something to prove here & who really doesn't?

Strangely, I'm looking forward to this game more than the Cowboys game a few weeks ago. Do I think they'll win? No, not really but stranger things have happened in this league.
