If the Eagles lose, that puts them in a tie with just about all of the NFC for still being on the bubble for even sniffing a Wild Card. Then again, with all those teams losing that were ahead of them, the "playoff" talk will continue for weeks to come on the PE.com site. I just don't see it happening again this season for the Eagles.

Seriously, if Pittsburgh doesn't cover against Miami tonight, Munch's kids won't have a Christmas.

NTFF

I rarely bet (especially on football) and when I do it is because I think the odds makers have it ridiculously wrong on purpose. If you can put your jaded Eagle fandom aside, most of you would have felt the same way about a ridiculous line like this. The Eagles rarely get blown out and there was no way the Pats could keep up that pace. If it wasn’t this week it would have been next.

The betting I do is my mandatory participation in the pools I run at work behind the bar. On those I traditionally get tipped by the winners so I end up ahead every year.

Other than that, I will sometimes lay a bet down that a bar customer is all hyped up about. I’ve won some money on golf and NASCAR that way and I know absolutely nothing about either. For the most part, if you bet with a customer his tips increase so you at least break even.

Not touching the Steelers tonight Neag.

15 ½?

You betting it?

I have the Steelers tonight but don;t have much on it. The Cowboys and Colts were my to mortal locks this week, but I don't feel quite as good about the Steelers.

The Steelers are undefeated at home, coming off an embarrassing loss to the Jets in NY, and have outscored their home opponents by:

23 points
21 points
21 points
31 points
3 points (shootout two weeks ago against the Browns)

I don't feel "great" about it, but we'll see how it goes.

Even with Polamalu and Holmes out, the Steelers should crush Miami

Edge: Pittsburgh and give the points

The weather and the field made playing and watching that game impossible. I'm not one who says football games should be postponed, but that was brutal.

Anyone see the play where the ball stuck in the groung like a lawn dart?

unreal

Didn't even watch it.

They apparently put new sod down 2 days ago, which heavily contributed to turf issues.

It also rained for 2 days straight.

They played two HS games at Heinz on Friday, a college game on Saturday, then got hit with a downpour for most of Sunday night into Monday.

Even pristine Lincoln Financial Field couldn't hold up to that beating... oh, right, that field can barely withstand one of Temple's "games."

Apparently, the shit field the Burgh has is the same one the Eagles have (the woven hybrid shitbox). Neither have had any luck with it AT ALL. The Patriots had it for a period of time too, but replaced it with Fieldturf last off-season because they said it wasn't a realistic option in the NorthEast. The Patriots, Steelers, and Eagles fields are consistently ranked among the very worst in the league by the players, but the Patriots are now in the top 5 (Eagles and Steelers both in the bottom 5).

Denver also has that woven field and it supposedly works great out there.

The Eagles laid sod on their last week, so they'll be playing on it for the first time against the Seahawks. After the season they'll be rolling up the sod and letting their sandbox sparsely grow in again.

From the top to the bottom, nobody holds onto a losing hand as long as the Eagles.

We sold the Eagles their winter turf blankets (covers they lay down during cold weather that act as a greenhouse system to speed up growth) and I've been on the field a few times the day after a game.

What a fucking mess. I feel bad for Tony Leonard, their heads groundskeeper.
