Whee! They beat the spread! Moral victory! MORAL VICTORY!....
It stacks up as a loss, and I should have expected it. Damn this team for making me believe again for over 3 quarters. There was a ton of good things about the game, but the glaring L still counts for more than any of it.

Fuck FB for not running the ball on that next to last series. You've got close to the best running back in the NFL who just got 6 yards, you're in field goal range, and you pass. I'm so done with him.

Good night gentlemen.
Remember, the team was 5-6 last year with a back up QB.

Missed my prediction (prediction thread) by 1 point... Unfreak'n believable. Another game where this team plays to the level of their competition....
One of the few things John Madden said tonight that I agree with... The Eagles gave everyone else the blue print to run with the big dogs....

One other thing... With Mcnoodle in the game this would have been a laugher for the Patriots... Feeley played his ass off with the exception of 2 poorly thrown balls.

Couldn't agree more. The only time McNugget should come in is if Feeley and Kolb get hurt.

And don't forget, there is always the rally cry of "The NFC sucks this season" and "This could be the first year a team with a 7-9 record makes the wild card" talk. Hope springs eternal.
And Dave, just grab yourself a bottle of Crown (my drink of choice right now), or whatever it is you have on hand, hold it high in the air, and scream "FUCK YOU BUTT CHIN AND YOUR CHEATING ASS TEAM!" in two minutes. It's essentially the same thing the old lady is going through drinking with me now.

that second-to-last drive was a bummer on a number of levels (besides the obvious); showed why feeley is a backup and reid is a second-rate coach.
it was fun to pretend for 3 and half quarters that wasn't the case, but the coach turned back into a pumpkin right before midnight.

OK, now that I'm a little drunker, here's a recap:
The GOOD:
Feely played really well except for his first pass and his last pass that mattered.
Reid/Morningwood/Johnson called a pretty darn good game up until the last drive...
The BAD:
You're already in FG tying range with 4 minutes left...Milk the clock!
The UGLY:
My day tomorrow after being drunk off my arse tonight and having to deal with the subsequent hangover early tomorrow morning.

This game tonight was an eerie reminder of the Super Bowl because Reid's clock management in the 4th quarter cost them a victory.
What makes it especially frustrating was that his clock mismanagement went from one extreme to the other.

The Good
- Feeley taking the reins. Gotta love his moxie and he's a great backup QB, but you saw some of the throws that should keep him a spot starter in the future.
- Gocong finally being used in a way that plays to his strengths. Watching him move around, play on the line, sack Brady, hit Brady, etc. Making this guy a 2 own run stopper is a waste of his natural ability to rush the passer.
- The offensive line was great.
- Westbrook as always.
- JR Reed laid more lumber from the safety position in one game (and on one leg) than Considine, Dawk, and Mikell managed all season. I almost forgot what passable safety play looked like.
- Jim Johnson came to the table and was actually creative. He had the best offense in the NFL and a historically good offense on their heals. They gave up yards, but Brady absolutely did not like playing that game and he was forced to dink and dunk the whole game.
The Bad
- Feeley. The pick 6 to open the game hurt terribly. The 2nd pick 6 you almost threw on the same route late in the game almost ended it. The 3rd pick was atrocious and literally gave the game away.
- Reid. What in the fuck are you clowns doing throwing deep in that situation? You also have to stick with the run, which was one of the main reasons the Eagles were in the game to begin with.
The Ugly
The critical errors. 3 picks by Feeley...1 a pick six and one taking the tying field goal off the board (if not a winning TD).
Nick Cole lining up in the neutral zone and turning a punt into a 1st down for the Pats.
Dropped pick by Reed. Dropped pick by Dawk. Neither a gimme, but somebody has to make a play.

Dawk played better than I'd seen him in months. Everyone, actually. But that pick he dropped would've given the Birds the ball (and, more importantly, kept the lead). But Reid's impatience kills them in a close game, calling for a play that didn't need to be called, even after the defense just gave up a TD and Welker had been killing them all night.
I don't share the same sentiment that a healthy McNabb doesn't win this game for them. The Birds were aided all night by a secondary that gave this offense what it thrives on - those deep ins. But then again, they play more inspired when 5 isn't in the lineup, so if anything, he's as good as gone.
Did anyone check out Reid's PC at the end of the game last night? Kinda funny how he walked off after being pressed about the QB.

The quick throws to beat the blitzs are not plays Mcnabb would have made. He just will not put the balls in a spot for the guys to catch in stride or make a play on. He either floats them over their head or he throws bullet worm burners. The throw to Schoboat over the shoulder was a perfect example.
Watching Gaffney AND Stallworth making catches for the Pats just infuriates me on how this team can't hold onto guys or find spots for them but other teams can.
LJ Smith makes two catches and disappears for the rest of the game.
G Lew is the bane of the point spread.
Gaither and Reed had pretty good games last night. Also kudos to the secondary for keeping the most explosive air attack under wraps for most of the night.

NTFF Hulk. My brother and I were saying the same thing last night. People in Boston might actually think he's good.
And what was up with Gaffney doing that wing flapping thing?
#1) T.O., who made that famous, is no longer on the team if you haven't heard.
#2) You suck it soft, Gaffney.
