And what was up with Gaffney doing that wing flapping thing?
Because he didn't like how the Birds cut him, maybe?
He made a couple of big plays for them, because the Pats do that sort of thing with "recovered" players. Not to mention the 1st down catch he made to end the game.

I was happy to see the refs call Offensive PI last night for once. Moss has been pushing off ALL year.
Nick Cole should be delivering water or pizza's before the day is out from now on.

Madden complained that he didn't see OPI on that play. The replays didn't show a clear angle, but it was OPI.
I'm sure they'll be calling that more in the playoffs.

After seeing Jabar Gaffney's play last night, I have a feeling Belichick made a mental note to acquire Greg Lewis next off-season and turn him into a 1200-yard WR.

I was thinking the same thing. I think he's just had so few opportunities to be a poor sport in his career that he did the first thing that popped into his head, but it was a truly bizarre celebration.

Funny feeling good about a D that gave up 390 yards passing and about a QB who threw 3 INTs, but I do. Still would rather see what Kolb can do, but it's all for naught, because...
The only sure things in life? Death, taxes, and Reid will trot McDufus out there against Seattle on Sunday. It may have already been said here, but if he played in this game it would have been 45-14 Pats.

Hey, there is still a chance that McNabb gets sat down "due to injury" for awhile. Can't rush the franchise QB back too early with an injured thumb, wink wink, right?

While we're still on the game thread, let me be the first to speak up against all that garbage I've already read today about how Collinsworth was so wise to suggest that the Eagles should stick to the ground and run out the clock before scoring in the final minutes, so as not to give the Patriots enough time to move the ball.
That's total BS. You don't get to pick and choose your drive when you're losing that late in the game. You score however you can score, whenever you can score. The Eagles had to make several huge plays on 3rd down last night just to keep the ball moving. It's not like they could have just given it to Westbrook five or six times in a row and asked him to get five yards each.
I don't fault Feeley for that last interception, either. The guy made a gut decision and it was wrong. It happens. Feeley was making pinpoint passes all over the place last night. Insane passes. The guy gets a pass in my book.

Sorry jerobi, on 2nd and 4 and already in field goal range versus the best offense in the history of the NFL, they needed to run some time off. Game management is one thing that separates Reid from the great coaches in the league.

Yup...completely agree. You could not give the ball back to Brady there.
They were in field goal range and it was 2nd and 4. The goal there is a first down, burning clock and HOPEFULLY scoring, but the only thing tat guarantees a loss at that point is an INT, so there was absolutely no need to go for it all in that spot.

Curtis also fucked up by stepping out of bounds intentionally when he could have just fallen to the ground. That was with about 4:30 to play.

I just checked - they were on the 29 yard line with 2nd and 4.
That's a pretty long field goal, and a field goal only ties it.
I don't know if it helps or hurts mt argument, but you still would have had a 3rd down to try and get those four yards if a pass fell incomplete.
The play was a run/screen to the left sideline, if my hazy memory serves. There wasn't much there. If you guys demand a ground play, don't blame the play call or the coach on that one.
Feeley decided to toss for the end zone. The WR had his man beat and then slowed down when making a move and got beat. It wasn't a terrible play when Feeley let it go. It was a shot at the end zone for a (likely, assuming the extra point) four point lead that prevents the Patriots from tying on a field goal.
Half the teams in the league would have taken a shot at the end zone in that situation. Yeah, it didn't work. Yeah, the interception was an awful outcome. But it wasn't some horrible travesty of judgment by all parties.

Samuel was about 10 yards deeper than Curtis. It was a bad throw from when the coverage was realized to when he actually threw it.
The only thing Curtis could've done was play DB, but there was no way he was going to catch that.

Since they had 2 downs to get only 4 yards, they could have run the time it would have taken to execute those two plays, and then had 3 more downs to work with if they succeeded. Potentially they could have gotten the clock under 2 minutes with a tie or a lead.
The argument changes if they're playing any team other than the Pats or Colts, and maybe Cowboys.

But it was Akers, F_B. You know he can only hit 30 yard FGs now.

That's why they're talking about moving Akers to free safety and letting McNabb "Michael Jackson kick" all the long FGs...

Yeah...exactly. Curtis didn't have a chance on that one.
I'm not saying they had to run the ball in that situation, but there was no reason to go for it all right there unless it was a blown coverage and Curtis was all by himself.
Otherwise, get a first down, get yourself better FG position, and continue working safe throws/runs in an attempt to milk the clock and score.

Don't fall into the trap of thinking like Collinsworth, which in general is a horrible thing to do.
Yards and runs and first downs and field goals and TDs are not all gimmes. There is always a chance of a turnover or a big stop, or even a sack to take you out of field goal range.
I still don't think that Feeley made an inexcusable decision to take a shot under all the circumstances. If Curtis doesn't stutter in his turn or the ball is a few inches in the Eagles favor, it's a TD. And even if it works out to be an incomplete, I'm still fine with that.

All the more reason to try and get 4 yards on two running plays in that area of the field.
