He got shot in the groin, not his foot!

Dam now I feel bad and take it back, I hope he pulls through(maybe never plays again but pulls through)
I just read on NFL.com
Teammates said he became more mature over the last year after he became a father for the first time.
Don't want to see a kid lose his dad, no matter how big a putz he may be...

And another classic:
"I have seen numerous posts from Cowboy fans wishing ST the best. Out of curiousity, I hit an Eagles board. It was below worthless. The majority of posters wished him a crippling injury "couldn't happen to a nicer guy" was one post. Death wishes were many and in no way the exception. I was tempted to post but I figured - why bother."

more on the story
"Sharpstein said Taylor, 24, emerged from surgery about 12:30 p.m. but had lost a lot of blood and remained unconscious, possibly jeopardizing his brain. He is in intensive care and doctors have allowed his family to see him."

from the washington post, doesn't look good...
Sean Taylor "Clinging To Life"
Richard Sharpstein, who has represented Sean Taylor in legal matters in the past and is a friend of the family, said moments ago that the player's life is hanging in the balance in the hospital. Sharpstein, speaking from the hospital, said Taylor is "nonresponsive and unconscious" and the doctors are "worried about a possible brain injury or death."
Sharpstein, who has been with Taylor's family at the hospital much of the day, said that there are major worries that Taylor may have lost oxygen to the brain, and that no other procedures are planned for right now. "They're waiting to see if he comes to," Sharpstein said. He was shot in the groin/thigh area near the femoral artery and lost copious amounts of blood. The intruders then retreated and Sean was airlifted to the trauma center and endured several hours of surgery, Sharpstein said.
Taylor is in intensive care, Sharpstein said, and his girlfriend and child were not injured in the attack. Sharpstein said Taylor was sleeping when he heard a noise in the living room. The intruder or intruders were at his bedroom and Taylor reached for a machete or other form of knife he keeps nearby in case of emergency, and two shots were fired, with one striking his leg.
"Right now he's clinging to life and we're all praying he makes it," Sharpstein said.
Sharpstein said there have been numerous break ins, or break in attempts, on Taylor's house in recent weeks.

Here's to hoping the fella pulls through OK. I wish ill on no man, least of all because of the professional sports team that he plays for. As for the thug theories, how about we let the guy wake up before accusing him of his own demise? Sheesh.

Someone mentioned to me yesterday, that when you get shot in the groin, there's a good chance that groin was visiting places that it shouldn't have been.

Croc filled moats and electrified fences could have prevented this.
What I find hard to believe is that after previous break-in attempts, the intruders were able to gain access all the way up to Taylor's bedroom without being detected. They've got things called alarms and gates and guard dogs nowadays.

In any case, this is why I am for handgun regulation, but 100% okay with shotguns and rifles in the home.

Craziness abounds -
They're saying (and this is mostly pft.com) that his phone lines were cut before he was shot.
Something's rotten in Denmark (sorry fagel)...

R.I.P Sean Taylor. The guy finally tries to get his life together and gets shot for his trouble. Now his daughter has no father.
Senseless.

Ironically it was probably part of Sean Taylors plea bargain and probation that he could not own a gun himself.

Bringing up another point- since Taylor had been busted for a handgun violation previously, I'm guessing he was precluded from owning even a shotgun for home defense.
Sad.

Ironically it was probably part of Sean Taylors plea bargain and probation that he could not own a gun himself.
That's pretty crazy, but I still think this might be stemming from a can of worms he opened at some point.
They broke into his house and took nothing (just left the knife on the bed). A week later they come back, shoot him, and take nothing again. If the PFT report about phone lines being cut is accurate, that would pretty much lock it up, but I'm sure the report isn't accurate.
It's pretty sad to hear about the kid die and I'm by no means saying "he asked for it", but the story from day one just stinks of personal/business vendetta. Knowing Sean Taylor as a bit of a lunatic (strange recluse, pistol whipping millionaire, etc.) and his struggle to detach himself from the hood, this just looks like a planned hit.

Same thing I was thinking, FD - if it were just robbery, I'm sure the burglars could've gotten away with a ton of stuff, or Taylor would've given up some stuff if he knew he was facing a gun.
Just doesn't fit the model of a "normal" home invasion.
