I agree wholeheartedly. The system is ineffective and the players seem to have tuned him out.

But I also think he's too stubborn to leave on anything but his own terms unless he is fired. And that ain't happening.

Just like last year though, I'd rather a losing season -- for nothing more than a better draft pick, which Reid will probably waste, and to end the false hope that another miralce 10-6 season will provide.

And Dawk is done, for the second time. A few years ago I was among the chorus of levelers who said he was done. And then he had a late career resurgence. But he is looking slow (still ferocious and energetic) but he can't cover the field anymore. I forget which play it was, but he looked like he couldn't even lay the wood on Alexander on a running play in the 1st quarter. It was a pathetic half-hit.

Dont know whats been said so far-

The playcallin was horrendous.
Multiple times.

AJ's bubble's burst in a big way- somethin tells me it wasnt 100% all his doing.

McNabb WILL be back on the field next week- both to play temporary savior for playoff hopes and mainly to boost his trade value.

Westy was WAY underutilized today and he knows it- and better take comfort in the fact that next yr, with Kolb, he'll be teh foundation of the offense.

Glad i was home today and not freezin off my butt in that downpour all day.

Spikes has rubber hands.

JR Reed is a bright spot on D- that tells you what kinda yr it's been.

Akers is DONE

The Aussie Punter's not cut out for the NFL

Dawk's (SADLY) done.

UGh.

At least Pitt made 2007 a good football season for me last nite with that Improbable win.

julamy you know what you just said gave me a thought that can't be done because the lack of depth right now at safety, but even though Dawk seems to have lost a step he would/could play. IF they had any depth at S (by the way I really like the way Reed has been playing at least there is one bright spot) Johnson should move him to a LB type role cover the TE and or RB out of the backfield...

BUT like I said before "IF" like the middle finger of the word LifE that is to be an Eagles fan...

Glad to see a buckeyes fan, Tat!

Fitting end a to a sloppy game, by a sloppy team. Reid must go and take JJ and Heckert with him. Mcmartyr will hopefully at least garner a 3rd.

Now THAT would make for a very exciting 2008!

Mcnabb gets one more year, based soley on the love he has shown for this city...he's truly a Philly guy.

Plus, he's the funniest athlete I've ever seen. His press conferences and interviews leave me in stitches. If they had casted him instead of Malcolm Jamal-Warner (Theo) in the short-lived Listen Up, the show would still be on the air.

At least I had hope once...

Once.

Sometimes even being right doesn't ease the pain. At least the draft strategy should be clear for next year: Find the next Tom Brady, Heinz Ward (aka Cris Carter hands) and T.O./Rice hybrid- and if you're not too busy Santa can we get the next Ronnie Lott while you're at it?

Here's a question. If they clean house and bring in a whole new Coaching Staff, who on the current Staff finds another job?

JJ - no
Marty - probably
Castillo - yes
Culley - no (then again he almost made Pinky productive)
Segrest - no (GB game cost him any shot)
Williams - ??? (who knows what kind of job he did?)
Harbaugh - yes (on his work as a ST Coach alone)
Heckert - NO (unless some HC needs a good Yes-Man at GM)
Reid - yes

We should be able to go to Reids house and perform a citizens arrest. That play calling yesterday was CRIMINAL. I know a lot of people joked about 90% passing in some of the most inclement weather sans last MNF game at Heinz field. You have one of the biggest O-lines in football, a top 3 RB and one of lower tiered run defenses in the league and you come out throwing the ball? Just absolutely flies in the face of common sense. They seem like they would rather lose their way than win with proven methods. Also its time for new ST all around. The kick coverage stinks and the kicking game is over. Rocca was great as a novelty at first but I am done with him and I have ZERO confidence in Akers anymore. When you see Akers coming out for a FG over 40 yards how many of you say to yourself- NO SHOT? Exactly probably more than half of this boards does. He's toast.

Foley thinks he's done for the year, based on the ankle (not the injury, but how they treated it). He's saying that if you've got a sprained ankle, you're off of it, and not coming back on the sidelines later.

I don't know if I believe all of that, but is it me or did McNabb look kinda spry for a guy who's supposed to be out because of an injured ankle?

And did anyone notice this? When "Ain't Jeff" Feeley was on the last drive, someone on the sidelines next to Reid was giving the offense the "hurry up" motion with his hands, and Reid turned and looked at the guy, almost as if he was saying, "back the **** up"? Both hilarious and sad at the same time.

The final drive summarized the stupidity of Reid quite aptly.

Reid's thought process: I've got a top-of-the-league talent in Westbrook. He's a threat to score on every play. I know this. The opposing team knows this. They're probably expecting it to go to Westbrook. But I know they think this. Aha, I'm thinking one level deeper than them now, so I'm not going to give it to Westbrook; instead I'll pass to some scrub.

The opposing coach's thought process: That jackass isn't going to give it to Westbrook because he thinks he's smarter than everyone else. He's going to leave Westbrook to rot and instead throw it to some scrub. If only he realized that two can play this game.

Yesterday's playcalling proved once again that they would rather lose their way than win someone else's way. A mediocre QB having a terrible game and they continue to throw, throw, throw. I got depressed as soon as Westbrook got tackled on the punt return because I just KNEW they would fuck it up.

couple things, first it was Reno, and Reid not only gave him the look but I'm prety sure he said something too...

Harbaugh is the future for this team, I'd be willing to bet that JJ brings him up as Asst D coach(basically it's his job but Reid won't outright fire JJ so he will be the "head" D coach) of course we all know my track record on betting IF I bet I lose so Harbaugh will move on like so many of the quality coaches that this team has let go...

This brings me to the reall root of the teams problem, and I'm pretty sure nobody has talked about it, at least not directly.

Reid's biggest problem IMO isn't talent evaluation, playcalling, of even game planning/adjustments. Nope IMO humble opinion it is his bad evaluation of his coaches. OK now there are two asst's that he has "let" slip away that are now two of the HUGE problem areas on this team, Ron Rivera LB's caoch and Spagnola LB then seconday coach; replaced by LB coach Sean McDermott http://www.philadelphiaeagles.com/team/CoachBios.asp?coach_id=10 and Secondary coach Harbaugh.

OK so Spag's was the secondary coach from 01 to 04 then after Rivera moved on he moved to LB coach, to me that is a sign of where and when the team started to faulter, the DB's were OK the years after he moved to LB but far from the dominant years while he weas there, then he moved to LB granted the LB corp was weak at best BUT I think he got as much as he could from them considering Reid kept drafting fastball LBs...

Point is that Reid has to many holes to fill it's time for him to step away, either totally or at least from the personell side and focus on just coaching the team. Unfortunately nothing I've said here will/can make a difference but Reid and Johnson have had some very good coaches and let them get away and as they left they took the fire and drive needed to be a good coach in this league. The only other option I good hope for would be to bring Rivera back as the head D coordinator and move Harbaugh back to ST's but I that won't happen. BUT I really think the issue with the lack of fire and fight missing from the group of Mormons is the coaches...

PLEASE take a look at the coaches bio of Sean McDermott and tell me he doesn't look just like one of Reids kids...

This is the Morningweh offense. An Explosive offense that chunks off yards. Reid wasn't like this when he started. It wasn't until they signed Terrel Owens that they really started relying heavily on chunking yards with the pass. And the result pretty much mirrors what Morningweh had with other teams, right down to having Garcia as the quarterback. Why doesn't anybody believe that Morningweh is calling the plays?

I noticed today that Spadaro is saying that the team has no playmakers, other than Westbrook. This is shocking to me, because I can't say I recall a time when Spadaro was down on the team, basically calling for new blood.

Spadaro was on Cataldi's show last Monday spewing that the Eagles had "talented" players at the skill positions.

Now he's saying the complete opposite on the Eagles website.

What a FRAUD!

This regime needs to be removed from top to bottom starting with this friggin moron (Spadaro)

Let's look at what our local paper has said about the game:

Goal-line failure
Here is a four-down look at the Eagles' failure to score against Seattle after having a first-and-goal opportunity from the 1-yard line just before halftime:

First down: Defensive tackle Brandon Mebane got underneath tackle William Thomas to create a pile of bodies on the left side, allowing linebackers Lofa Tatupu and Leroy Hill to get the penetration needed to stop Brian Westbrook for no gain.

Second down: A.J. Feeley made a bad throw behind tight end L.J. Smith in the back of the end zone. He also made a bad decision, because he had a much easier chance to score if he had gotten the ball to fullback Thomas Tapeh in the right flat.

Third down: Guard Shawn Andrews said he heard the Seahawks' defensive players calling the play before the ball was snapped, and Hill obviously knew Westbrook was going to go airborne in an attempt to score. Hill also took to the air and got a piece of Westbrook's leg at the 2. Linebacker Julian Peterson and defensive end Darryl Tapp teamed to stop Westbrook just shy of a TD.

Fourth down: Defensive tackle Rocky Bernard completed the goal-line stand for the Seahawks by getting underneath Jon Runyan and grabbing Westbrook for a 1-yard loss.

Andy Reid's decision to not take the three points before the half proved costly at the end of the game when the Eagles needed six points for a win instead of three.

The picks
Welcome to the weekly breakdown of Feeley's interceptions. We believe this is going to be the second and final installment this season:

The first of Tatupu's three interceptions came on the game's first offensive play, and it was an inexplicable gaffe. Not only was Tatupu running step for step with Smith, but the Seahawks also had coverage behind the Eagles tight end with safety Deon Grant.

Tatupu's second pick was equally unexplainable. On third and 6 from the Seattle 47, Feeley tried to throw to Greg Lewis, who was tightly covered by Tatupu and Hill. Tatupu did do a tremendous job of masking his coverage until just before Feeley released the ball.

Under pressure from Patrick Kerney late in the third quarter, Feeley made a bad decision and a weak throw, resulting in an easy interception by Peterson on a third-and-9 play.

The fourth and final pick was every bit as baffling as the first two to Tatupu. Reggie Brown was surrounded by three Seahawks, and Feeley threw a perfect strike to his favorite Seattle target, sealing the Eagles' defeat.

For the record, Westbrook was used as a blocker on the play, making the play call every bit as disturbing as the play.
