good lord, f-d

You started it, my man. It also had nothing to do with what we were discussing.

Seriously, let it go. This can be a good thread, and nobody gives two shits about the word "smear".

Whom I think has a LOT of upside.

Also noticed DJ Hackett on that list- who aside from Injury, REALLY has upside. The rash of injuries tho are enuff to give a team pause, as it's kinda becomin his rep.

Id have to say the list provided is rather current, as of 2 wks ago.

Dude, I couldn't care less about the word smear either. I was talking about the Birds and their penchant for publicly exposing flaws (either mental of physical) in players when they are trying to lower the value of that player on the free market or in an attempt to prepare the fans/grease the skids for a less painful departure when you said "It's not a smear if it's true".

The definition of smearing didn't have even a little bit to do with my post and I never planned on debating the definition of smear, but I' also didn't want this aggression to stand.

Id take "No Tip" Roy off Detroit's hands no question.

Yes, agreed the best way to obtain a WR would be via trade.

WILL THEY Tho?

Ahhhhhno.

I think Hacket BAerrian, etc. would be like bringing sand to the beach.

IMO, they don't need another "good" WR...they need a great one.

On that we'll agree.

But with so many other needs, will they be willing to make such a move (do what it would take to land a bigtime WR)?

I wouldn't mind Berrian. He will never reach his potential in Chicago with the garbage they trot out at QB. The Bears are the Bizarro Eagles.

Hold it- the Bears throw deep, playin to Berrians' (only?) strength.

The Birds throw deep about as FB posts a funny comment out here.

They had a great one... but we all know how that worked out.

If they want to get a great one again, it will have to come via the draft (HA!) or free agency. A great WR in free agency will have downsides (age, attitude, whatever).

So, that list doesn't look so bad anymore compared to what they currently have on roster.

I dunno. The way I look at it is this:

- They absolutely need playmakers on offense.

- They have a playmaking RB.

- Where else can you add a playmaker?

It's got to be either TE or WR and there aren't any playmaking TEs available in FA or rumored to be available by trade. If they wanted to, they could go the 2 back route and attempt to add a 2nd running back capable or making big plays, but how useless would that be for this particular team unless they completely change the philosophy?

I think their only chance to add a play maker is at WR, so they may be forced down that path.

Fitzgerald is interesting. He's going to make $15 million next because of escalators in his contract and is playing in Wisenhunt's offense. They already have Boldin locked up long term and he;s the Hines Ward clone.

Would a high 2nd round pick, Tony Hunt, and $15 million off their salary cap be interesting to them?

Just throwing a random offer out there given their situation and offense they want to run.

Also, what about moving Brown to safety, and signing Samuel

Actually, I think any WR they bring in would depend on the QB next year.

If it's McNabb, then they're gonna need a WR that has unbelievable break away speed, that can get separation the width of a bus and can handle a rifle shot from 12 yards out.

Who know what they have in Kolb.

It seems like every other team can draft play making TE's right out of college. Why can't the Eagles? Whats the college prospects on TE's look like?

I think Samuel is goin to cost HUGE $, just my 2 cents.
Not against movin Brown to Safety at all, but methinks he would be.

Noticed a name I liked a lot comin outta school and ever since, LB Carlos Dansby, will be available. You know me and the thinking that LB is always a position you could stand to upgrade, so feel free to disregard that part of my post.

Well, guys we all got to see a lot of, Davis (USC) and Carlson (ND-ugh!) are both likely to go high at the position.

I also know PITT has a pretty good TE in Darrell Strong, but "Pretty Good" and "Impact having" are not 1 and the same.

I love Dansby, but they'd essentially be cutting Spikes loose to make room for him.

Just thinking how they think, I'm guessing Suggs or Allen would be more likely.

Overall, I'm fine with the LBs and I like Bradley, too. I love Dansby, but I doubt they'll be able to justify expense given what they THINK they have.

I remember a lot of mock drafts predicting the Eagles would take him in the first round that year.

In the WCO all you need to so is be a serviceable blocker and have decent hands. The guy doesnt have to be Gates or Witten to be effective in the offense. But I am not sold on Celek, LJ is done and Schoboat is #2 TE at best.

Regarding some of the guys KB brought up (Clark and Samuel), I don't like those guys for essentially the same reason.

Clark is impossible to judge because he has the benefit of Manning. Samuel is impossible to judge because he has the benefit of Belichick.

Samuel looks like the best corner in football and has been a playmaker since day 1, but I'm afraid he's partially a product of that system. he's going to get Nate Clements money, so he scares me at that price even though he's amazing.

With Clark...how much is him and how much is Manning?
