Seth I disagree with you, I would almost bet that IF Blank were wants McNabb he'd be willing to pay a 1st and a top player... for nothing more than giving his team and fan base a positive shot in the arm... I doubt any other team would give that much or have that much to gain from such a move, #5 would put the Falcons back in the hunt almost right away.

As for the Petrino deal I don't blame him at all, he tried to have a disiplined team and set rules and limitations to players(who by the way were showing support for Vick before and during the game) and the players revolt by bitching and saying "we grown men and he aks like we kids" They were walking all over him, because the previous coaches and FO let the inmates run the assylum. I think a great fit would be the chin, he would bring the disipline needed with the predigree of success and a SB win. I doubt he'd go with McNabb at QB but who knows they have a decent run game and with #5 they would have a steady to good QB that isn't known for throwing ints/losing the game... Could be the right situation but Bill would probably limit the trade to EITHER a 1st rounder or a player...

Atlanta Falcons players; (None of you are "dear" to me, and you don't even warrant a comma.)

Out of my respect for you, (Bwahahaha!...I'm sorry. That's kind of tacky, but...bwahhahaha! I just can't help myself!) I am letting you know, with a heavy heart, (and a lighter wallet) I resigned (Warrick, I know you went to FSU and don't understand big words, so that's a fancy way of saying I quit like a cowardly piece of shit) today as the Head Coach of the Atlanta Falcons. This decision was not easy (Rather, I prefer the word "simple.") but was made in the best interest of me and my family. (Because let's face it. It always has been about me and me alone. As for what's in your best interests, I really don't give a fuck.) While my desire would have been to finish out what has been a difficult season for us all, (I have also had a desire to sprout wings and fly, but we both know that ain't happenin', either.) circumstances did not allow me to do so. (Mr. Vick, thanks for fucking me in the ass. University of Arkansas, thanks for arriving with some much needed lube and cash.) I appreciate your hard work (Especially you, Deangelo. You're a real peach.) and wish the best. (For all I care, you can all fuck off and die.)

Sincerely, (See you in Hell,)

Bobby Petrino

will nfl owners finally get the message about these overpaid, overmatched, tough-as-wet-tissue-paper frauds?

F-d,

I think Atl would consider # 5 EVEN if Petrino were still the coach...been talking about it for some time. Crumpler is the kind of safety blankie that Linus er...Supa 5 needs. Plus, the team has a run-oriented philosophy that has been in place for sometime that requires a QB manager. That is a role that Linus would be better suited for.

I think you are on crack, smack and whatever else ends in ack, Fd, if you think the Falcons give up a #1 PLUS a defensive player.

PS,

NO chance the Birds get a "playmaker". Reid wouldn't allow anyone on the roster to have character (which is a necessary requisite for someone who ALWAYS wants the ball). LBs? Pffffttt.....this an FO that considered Levon Kirkland, Simoneau and Air Guitar Hero solutions at LB. Fowgettabout it!

If I were the FO, dangle Lito (pseudo playmaker who can't play 16 games) or Brown (not as talented but more reliable) as trade offerings to get a top notch WR and bundle in a mid-late rounder. Draft a CB in the second round for compensation. I am in F-Ds camp in that I think Steve Smith would do well with McNabb. That guy has done more with less than any other WR I know. He plays with a ferocity that I think Philly fans would respect. I'd be open to Cinco Ocho, but I am not as interested. Now benefit of doubt given to the Bungles. Roy Williams is an animal that I wouldn't hesitate to pull the trigger on...but oh yeah, Banner won't pay anyone a monthly salary that would allow him to get a lunchagles packet and an "orange" drink.

This FO makes me SOOOO mad.

BTW, I believe I heard somewhere that Banjo boy is now the leading tackler on the Chiefs.

I guess there's a system for everybody.

I disagree with Petrino, but it's moot now.

In terms of compensation, I agree. I never suggested they'd get the Falcons number 1 and don' t think they would.

I think it's possible they could get a low #1 from someone, but highly unlikely.

a Low No. 1 would be the best case scenario.
And a team with a low pick, likely isn't in dire need of a QB like 5.

Only hope IMO was Childress throwin too much at Reid in order to secure the known commodity.
The fact he once said Tavaris Jackson was ahead of McNabb at the same point in his career, and they're rounded into a playoff contender kinda renders my best case scenario little more than a pipe dream now methinks.

Fd, maybe you already said why (and it IS a moot point), but why would Petrino not think of McNott.

My impression was Petrio valued accuracy and getting rid of the ball quickly above all else, but that impression could be wrong. I just thought he was probably a bad fit for his particular offense and assume they'd probably take Brian Brohm anyway, but this development throws everything out.

I agree that the play of Jackson is making Minny a less likely option, but I think Chicago is still squarely in the game, Baltimore could be, Atlanta is now in it, etc.

Two new dark horses have emerged, as well. Alex Smith and Nolan had a war of words in SF last week, with Nolan questioning his toughness and Smith firing back in the media. They made nice, but this isn't the first time they've publicly criticized one another. Nolan has to start winning now and Smith just had a season ending shoulder injury, so they are a team to watch.

Another one is the Dolphins. John Beck was a mid second round pick last year, but he's a 26 year old rookie who , through 4 starts, is just slightly over 50% in completion percentage, has zero TDs, 3 INTs, and 6 fumbles.

If he finishes the season like that, I don't think there is any guarantee he's starting in 2008. Cam Cameron is going to be in the hot seat no matter what, and he's going to have to show great progress in year two so he may opt for a veteran QB as an "insurance policy", but will end up starting him after he wins the battle in camp.

Just throwing some scenarios out there, but I'm sure there will be quite a bit of QB unrest out there.

As long as Reid stays, the names will change & the play will decline. And I think they have to bottom out (3 or more sub 500 seasons) before Luxury Box Revenues start to slip enough for Jeffy & Li'l Joe to can him.

So what do I expect to see in '08?

Seriously, though, I can see Miami giving Beck a chance. They spent a 2nd rounder on him, and he'll play all of next year as a 26-year-old, with the same amount of experience a lot of QB's have at that age.

I have no idea if he'll be good, but I can't see them spending at least another 2nd round on McNabb the next year.

Chicago's the best option. I doubt if Baltimore's going to be involved, because 1) They're showing what happens when you hold on to an injury-plague, former running, past-his-prime QB for too long, and 2) They feel like they've got something in the QB from Ohio State. Madden was talking him up big towards the end of the game (despite his size) and he didn't look bad coming in for relief. We'll probably see him in the last 3 weeks.

Dolphins are a shot, but if Five's Florida Flings are well documented, then that's not a smart move.

It'd be interesting if Tampa had any interest - they just find ways to win regardless of who's under center, and if Garcia doesn't get it done, does that warrant one more shot with McNabb? I mean, who's their future?

Atlanta would have to duke it out with Chicago over who gets Supah 5 services. Altanta is in shambles and Blank knows he basically is two calls away from getting his franchise back on the map-One call to Cowher to come coach in ATL fairly close to NC where his kids go to school, Second call to Banner asking about what it "realistically" would take to get Mcnabb. Those two moves automatically make them contenders in their weak division and NFC. It gets them respectability back after the Vick and Petrino fiascos.

Just me thinking out loud.

It would be an upset, which is why I called them a dark horse. I'm just saying that if they finish 0-16 or 1-15 with Beck looking as ugly as he has thus far and Cameron gets another crack at it, don't be shocked if he wants a security blanket. Better to waste a second pick and go 8-8 than lose your job working out a bust for another year.

He'll be 27 next year and I thin k the idea with drafting him as high as they did was he was one of the more "pro ready" players.

To put it in perspective, Aaron Rogers has been sitting for 3 years and he's still almost 3 years younger than Beck.

Like I said...longshot, but they absolutely cannot go into next season with only Beck there and depending on how this season plays out, he might get a quick hook. There are rumors he will be yanked this week for Cleo Lemon if he plays poorly.
