Sarge, I think we are in agreement. What did I say that made you think that it was anybody besides the defense or Westbrook that make this team tick?

Jules, you said why couldn't this team show up for the whole season.
As opposed to the team from the NE game, if this team showed up all season save Westy and the D, we might've lost even more games. I guess technically the O has been this bad virtually all season, save Detroit and NE.

The saddest is that there is hardly any commentary on the Eagles team after just beating their most hated rival.

What's to say, Ox? 10 points with 7 possessions inside Dallas territory? Crappy.
Great day defensively though.

"To my medical knowledge you can't contract stupid by sexual intercourse, but perhaps Homo has. That would be a case study." NTFF, Jules! Wish I could go bang Jessica Simpson after a bad day at the office though ...
You think there are no new ways this team can fuck up, and then AJ gets called for unsportsmanlike conduct (correct call, btw, and maybe Dawk should have been flagged for interference as well).
So whose idea was it for Westbrook to stop at the 1? I couldn't do the math that quickly. Did he? Or did Runyan, as someone posted?
The dude is gonna get fined for the hit on Schoebel, but no flag was thrown? No running into the kicker? Worst officiating I've seen all year. Enjoy the New England - Dallas Super Bowl, as apparently the NFL is doing everything it posssibly can to ensure that happens.
Nice win. I'll take 4-12 every year, if those 4 wins are over the Cowgirls and Vagiants.

When Westbrook took a knee my wife said "What the fuck is he doing?"
I told her "the smartest thing you will ever see a football player do."

Great win for the Eagles because it was extremely embarrassing for the Cowboys (specifically T.O.) and because the physical nature of the game led to the Boys being weakened in the long term.
As long as the Eagles don't believe this is an example of "how close they are" and recognize it for what it is, I'm glad for them.
The refs were shafting the Birds hard, the Eagles made dumb mistake after dumb mistake (timeout before challenge, AJ tripping the ref, Mikell taking the INT out of the endzone/fumbling, failing to fall on any fumbles, etc.) and still managed to eek out a win against the 12-1 boys.
I do believe that this game was no fluke, however. The Boys are a good team, but not great. The Eagles played the kind of defense they are capable of playing every week, they created some turnovers, and they didn't give the ball away. It was a smashmouth game and the Eagles have players capable of winning those battles in their front 7.
I rarely complain about the refs, but their were a couple no-calls that were pretty blatant.
BTW, I think the Pillsbury Slowboy should be suspended for 1 game. How he still thinks he's going to get away with horse collaring week in and week out is beyond me.

Too bad, because Dawk has said that this is who they are. I didn't think they could be a team with a good defense overshadowing an offense that should've scored no less than 21 with all the times they were in opposition territory, but hey, he said it, not me.

And then bitched about it when he was called for it! Should've gotten another 15 for that!!

I think I heard Westbook say Runyan came to him in the huddle before the snap and said "if you get free and have a chance, take a knee at the 1". Westbrook said he broke out, turned around, saw Runyan running at him and screaming "Knee!".

I believe they can be that kind of defense most of the time, and I also believe that the players should be confident in what they can do, but I hope the Eagles decision makers don't factor that game into their evaluation of the team.
I don't want Heckert saying "See...we have the talent. It's just a matter of cleaning up a couple things here and there and we're a Super Bowl team"

Exactly. Dawk's comments weren't about the team as a whole, or anything. He (correctly) was pointing out how good the defense is when not being stupid or giving up 20 3rd downs

Then I must've read his comments wrong, because I thought he was talking about the team as a whole and how mistakes (not limited to the defense) have made this team look worse than it is.

The Eagles, as a team, do believe they are a great team playing poorly.
That's because most of them aren't used to losing and find it hard to believe they aren't a Super Bowl contender.
They're wrong, but it's not surprising because players always feel they are "better than their record" when they are losing.

When in doubt, blame Da Hoff:
"That's really who we are," he said. "The other team that kept showing up, that does things in the fourth quarter or the third quarter - mistakes, whatever, offense, defense, special teams - that's the team that kept showing up too much, just making mistakes at the wrong time and giving the other team an opportunity to beat us."
From there, and combining with the feeling the p[layers have that they're thisclose to being a good team, that's what I was talking about.

And my point is that even in this win, they still did stuff that you find in an average team.
This isn't to discredit them, but the game shouldn't have even been this close, as dominant as the Birds were. But even had they won by 30, it doesn't change the view that they're not a great team.

-Kudos to Supah 5 for doing a few things yesterday I have been screaming about for 9 yrs. Dont take stupid sacks when you are out of the pocket. Just throw it away.
-Thanks to Westbrook, Runyan and whoever thought to down it at the 1 and watch the Cowboys helplessly watch the secs tick off the clock
-Glad to see the DT's finally look like they have a clue out there.
-Mikell should do a set of Hegamins for his boneheaded move to run out of the endzone. Down it you dope!! You are not Lito.
-Hope the refs enjoy whatever payoffs they got for that game of noncalls.

FD,
Come on, I think you are making way too much out of the Beagles defense. Romo had TO at least twice deep and just made bad passes. There were many other opps that Romo didnt make the accurate passes that he has been. I have never seen Romo play such a bad game. I give the eagles credit for making it tough, but to think the eagles have this great difference makes me laugh. It could have been very different if he was on.
I did love watching Johnson biting his lip the whole game. I have never seen him so nervous.

My 3 favorite moments from yesterday's game:
1) Reid calling a timeout to decide whether or not he should call a challenge and then lose another timeout. This was one of the more pointless maneuvers during his tenure here. However, my hat is still off to the guy because he continues to find creative ways to blow his timeouts.
2) Mikell trying to return the INT out of the endzone. Gee, how many times have we seen this happen and the player never makes it to the 20, let alone what happened in this case? I remember Lito getting a TD (because he had a clear path to the endzone), but otherwise, this play rarely works. Good to see the Eagles are still playing without being encumbered by that thinking stuff.
3) Westbrook taking the knee at the 1. I have been waiting YEARS for a professional football player to do this. I was freaking out last year in the Tampa Bay game because this did not happen, and it came back to bite them in the ass. However, the best part of this play was not what Westbrook did-- it was dumbass Reid's surprised reaction. Later, we learned that Runyan was the one who was responsible for it. It's really pathetic when the players are clearly more intelligent than the head coach.

Mikell trying to return the INT out of the endzone.
Didn't have a problem with this, cnsidering how sweet the Eagles offense is.
