Sporting News staff reports

"Up to 20 Florida State players could be suspended from the Dec. 31 Music City Bowl against Kentucky and the first three games of 2008 because of their involvement in a cheating scandal, an unidentified source has told ESPN.com.

Athletes in several other sports also were implicated in a cheating scandal that involved an Internet-based course, and the university is expected to make public the findings of an investigation this week.

A tutor is said to have told investigators that he had been providing students with answers to test questions as well as typing papers for the students."

This brought to mind this question: I can't remember who has more dirt in their program: Miami or FSU? I would guess Miami, but I'm not so sure. I remember the shoplifting thing a few years back.

All I remember is Clarett

He's just the tip of the iceberg. Troy Smith and Santonio Holmes got in trouble along the lines of the stuff Bomar did at Oklahoma...

Come on, OSU doesn't have nearly the issues that FSU has or has had, almost every college program has a problem here or there but FSU has reminded me of the way Osborn used to run Neb... it's about time they finally got popped and I hope Bowden is forced to retire the Joe Pa gets another year's worth of wins to ensure he is the all time winningest coach. IMO even though PSU has had their fair share of stupid kids and felons I think Paterno has almost always played it by the book to the best of his knowledge... I still remember when he benched Enis(I think it was him)for the bowl game of his senior season for taking a suit or something kind of small or at least that's what I think happened

Miami has been clean since Butch took over. There aren't remotely near the recent problems at FSU,OSU, Tennesse, Florida or Texas.

I wish people would put their early 90's prejudices against Miami on the shelf, that university has been a freaking NFL pipeline, especially in the last 10 years. Of course, the brains in Philly couldn't get of the the impact Canes..they draft Jerome McDoggit.

What happened there was an agent bought the suit for Enis-- that cost him his eligibility. Paterno, I suppose, deserves some credit for reporting the incident to the NCAA-- which a lot of school wouldn't do.

Yeah, like Carroll and all the crap Bush had at USC. It's funny that only Yahoo! Sports keeps up with that current investigation(which is pretty damning against Busch/USC), you never see it mentioned on ESPN because they can't take their mouths off of Carroll's cock.

Yeah we up in the Philly area hold grudges, and of course Miami has been the perfect program since the early 90's... except the thugs that they keep recruiting (Miami vs. Miami Int. that wasn't early 90's) give me an effing break, Miami and Florida St are IMO the two most disgraceful programs in all of College football(not including Michigan's inability to beat a Div 1AA team...) They are flashy high scoring teams, or at least were, and the media just loves them and almost refuse to report anything that goes wrong unless of course charges are pending then they are forced to report about the situation and even then they preface the story by saying 1 bad apple shouldn't spoil such an upstanding program... pure crap...

by the way I can/will post as many issues with Miami as needed to prove my point they make it so easy with the minimum secruity prison down there... I only posted the one that came to me off the top oif my head which only happened last year not the early 90's. BMA you must either be an alum, former player, coach, or just plain stupid to make a statement like that...

OK, I don't think I ever said OSU was perfect or the cleanest program... They seem to be better at hiding the infractions though, considering that since Tressel took over he has the highest winning percentage of any Div 1 program even higher than Carroll, and been to the Championship game in 3 since he hired in 01. The one thing most agree on is that we seem to love when the top guy, team, company or whatever gets knocked down a peg and for whatever reason OSU doesn't seem to have many issues in comparison to the FL teams...

BUT my comment and favortism of the Buckeys aside nothing can excuse the comment made by BMA I wish people would put their early 90's prejudices against Miami on the shelf, that university has been a freaking NFL pipeline, especially in the last 10 years. I can't dispute the numbers of players Miami has had drafted into the league 72 players in the last 10 years, but the truth is OSU has had more players darted in the last 10 years 74 (this is the site http://www.nfl.com/draft/history/fulldraft?abbr=O&collegeName=Ohio+State&abbrFlag=0&type=school ) now since OSU has obviously had more drafted perhaps BMA you should switch to supporting a team that produces more NFL prospects... jusat kiddin, but this is why college ball is more fun to watch and follow

drivel?!? I see responding to your comments with facts is drivel?!? and as for the media not loving the teams from FL you must really believe that the BCS is a true and fair ranking system as well, there is no way it's fair or balanced. of course this is a moot, as I sit here posting about OSU being seemingly better then the teams in FL I prepare to post something but go look up some info and what do I find?!?

http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/bowls07/news/story?id=3162942

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Top-ranked Ohio State will be without two cornerbacks -- one a starter and the other a top reserve -- who have been suspended for the Allstate BCS Championship Game against LSU, according to media reports.

oh well... looks like Tresel's record will be 1-2 in the Championship

What did they do at O$U to get suspended for the title game? Rape the Dean's daughter?

That's not even funny, that wouldn't do it, but raping the deans son that might...

seriously there hasn't been any details that I've heard yet... sucks cause I thought they had a shot against LSU

If you thought they had a good shot before, this shouldn't change things too much... key to the game will be the OSU offense. The defense is a strong enough unit to compensate for these losses, IMO...

Update-- in typical Buckeye fashion, it has now been announced that Washington WILL play. Tressel, no doubt, is completely unaware of any wrongdoing.

Dam they must read this board and choose to make me look stupid for standing up for them in anyway at all... oh well at least the game will be good.

Did they say what "team rule" was broken???

Rumors have it being anything from poor grades to a failed drug test... not sure what changed in the meantime. Tressel says there's "work to be done" in determining Washington's situation- I'm covering all bets on that one.

Again, I enjoy reading your takes, etc. on the Eagles, but you are WAY offbase if you think the media loves Miami. They may like FSU and/or UF, but Miami is despised, and always has been. I mean for Christ's sake, when Bryan Pata was shot OFF CAMPUS last year, John Saunders said on the air during an ESPN broadcast.. "when will they learn down there".

FSU gets a pass because Bowden puts on the "aww shucks" old coot routine. I don't know why UF is loved, they've had a nice police blotter since they won the title last year that would get Miami roasted over hot coals.

If you want a media darling, look no further than USC. No one updates that Bush scandal other than Yahoo! Sports. FYI, I heard it was a failed drug test regarding the OSU player.

Well we can agree on the USC crap. I think the reason they've played so poorly of late has a lot to do with the talking heads getting on their knees prior to games, and sucking hard, this as any guys knows makes you sleepy... so because the ESPN crews keep giving oral to Carroll et al they are in fact hurting them...

I wouldn't be surprised if it were drugs, but the NCAA is pretty strict when it comes to stuff like that, to the point of IF OSU were to win and knowingly let Washington play they could make them give up the title... I have a feeling it's a curfew/booster issue "team rules" leads me to think it's not acidemic or drugs those tend to be fairly cut and dry issues.
