Parcells Joins The Dolphins

Bill's back

He should have stayed retired or went back to the booth, but if he was gonna come back he made the right choice. Atlanta is the NFL version of The Black Hole right now.
I'm just not sure how much he'll help. What does he know about running an organization?
It's not his bread and butter.

That's debatable.

Agree with FB.

He has made some good decisions as well as some poor ones. I think his rep as a "GM" type is exaggerated.

His best yrs ever were when he was NOT picking the personel with the Giants in NY.

He did a great job with the Cowboys...that's for sure.

It's been too long and I can't really remember who was calling the shots on play acquisition in his previous stops, but he built this Boys team from top to bottom, minus T.O.

How much was him and how much was Jerry Jones?

Well, Jerry was the true GM for all their garbage years between Jimmy Johnson and Parcells.

They were good when Jimmy built the team, bad when Jerry managed it, and got good again with the player acquired under Parcells (many of whom were "Parcells Guys").

I'm just doing the math and it would appear Jerry Jones is a meddling billionaire rather than an expert GM.

Jones: "You forgot to mention 'Playboy' in there, son!"

One thing I will say about Parcells/the Cowboys is without hitting a home run on Romo, you'd have to question Parcells the GM in Dallas.

In 2003, he nabbed Newman, Witten, Bradie James, and picked up Romo after the draft as a rookie free agent which is a franchise changing haul. If you draft a pro bowl QB, CB, and TE in one season that's just spectacular.

In 2004 he pretty much struck out. Crayton and Julius Jones have contributed, but it was a bit of a wasteland after that.

2005 was another massive haul. Ware, Spears, Burnett, Barber, Canty, and Jay Ratliff. He drafted 4 of their staring front 7 in 1 draft and Ware is now one of the elite defenders in the NFL. Barber isn't technically a starter, but he's the heart and soul of their offense who for some reason sucks balls against the Eagles.

2006 looks to be another black hole...probably his worth draft.

He basically hit two grand slams, 1 below average draft, and one complete whiff.
