K Curtis, league leader in fumble recoveries for a TD. He's on the ball.

Damn, another season of mediocrity is over for the Eagles. Some observations (good and bad) from this season:

I truly believe that the starting TE job is Celek's to lose now. If the Eagles FO will jettison Cocksuckerfaceworth for injury issues, LJ has no freaking prayer...none. (I'd be surprised if Dawkins is around next season as well)

McNabb's mobility makes the Eagles WR "corps" look infinitely better than they are.

Westbrook should be the league MVP. Without him, the Eagles would have struggled to win even one game.

The Eagles final record is very befitting of a team that was better than somewhere around half of the league, and worse than the other (good) half.

I don't think I've ever been so disappointed by the ineptitude of the coaching staff as I have been this season. ST started the season off with a poorly thought out/executed thud of a performance, and never got better. The redzone offense was so one dimensional, that opposing teams were playing pass exclusively in that area (and even short goal line situations) and having success. JJ's defense was almost incredible in goal line situations, and almost Emmitt Thomas-esque (circa 1998) everywhere else. (This defense was one of the few "bright spots" however)

Some of the rookies looked like they can play, and even Gocong seemed to start fitting in by the end of the season.

Overall, this team fell victim to many of the same problems that have plagued them year in and year out during FB's tenure as head coach. Perhaps this is the FO's way of trying to raise a culture of general indifference towards the team in the hopes that the talk of winning the cap wars every year will diminish?

Praise the Lord they didn't let me down this game by failing to call the flea flicker like last game. However, I was disappointed in not seeing the shovel pass.

Andy Reid should can die in a fire for not getting Kolb any snaps today. Was an 8-8 record that fucking important? Ugh.

I don't understand why Kolb saw no time.

What does playing McNabb through the whole game do for the club?

He plays well. Nothing new to report.

He plays terribly. Questions into the post-season and used as leverage in any trade talk (though, not just one terrible game).

He gets injured. Trade value plummets.

Kolb had no exposure. Quiets the reporters somewhat but doesn't do much else. I know a quarter's play isn't much in the grand scheme, but you'll have to break him from his original wrapping eventually. Maybe Reid wanted to ensure HE remained injury free for the off-season.

On the plus side, one name not mentioned much was Winston Justice. He's probably happy to go unnoticed, given his last outing.

The better goal line play, to me, is clearly a reflection on the DT play. This team allowed teams to gash them last year and the difference this year was telling. Bookend 260 lbs LBs, athletic MLB, solid play in the middle and a true edge rusher who plays well against the run.

They've got to address CB in the first day of the draft. Lito can't stay on the field consistantly.

This team/coaching staff has got to the only one in history who runs a flea flicker to complete a 15 yard curl. The play callers are ridiculously obsessed with deception.

That play was actually interesting for a number of reasons.

First, if you're having difficulty with pressure up the middle, which the Eagles have had this season, a shortened flea flicker is likely a smarter move than trying to do too much. This leads me to:

Next, if your receivers have trouble generating separation, maybe a long curl route isn't a bad one for the flea flicker. Work an offense your players can run. Don't expect them to suddenly be capable of things. I thought I saw Curtis look for the corner to bite on his hitch step. Curtis is probably told to read the corner and if he bites hard, break it long. If the corner doesn't bite hard, break it off for the curl route.

Next, changing up a flea flicker for other than the seam or post route isn't a bad idea.

Finally, the deception forces the defense to draw their total focus from Westbrook. It's no secret that stopping Westbrook would stop the offense this season. Trickery using Westbrook as a decoy, if done carefully and successfully, pays dividends.

If the WRs could go ahead and take the "give up 3 yards after the catch spin" move out of their bag of tricks next year it would be greatly appreciated.

Every team they play is the Patriots.
