so Danny Boy fires Williams and Saunders, hires Zorn as Off. Coor. and promotes the linebackers coach to Def. coor.

So the big question is this...who will be the head coach? Also, who would take the job with coordinators already chosen for them? Rumors are the Spagnoula is a top candidate.

Campbell has what? his 7th offense to learn since entering college?

damn you EDC, beat me to the post.

what a boob, danny-boy.

i really thought the coordinators were top notch on that team, and a big reason for their success this yr.

ahhh, what do i know. spags will probably take the job and be in the super bowl 2 yrs in a row.

Danny Boy gives and takes from rival fans. He gives in that he is a disaster of an owner and just can't get over that he might not have the right smarts to run an NFL franchise. He takes in that when fans demand immediate change or drastic overhaul - even when it's needed - people throw his style of ownership in their face and say, "Is this what you want?"

Anyway you cut it, he serves as an example of how not to do things.

Seriously, the contract he gave Lloyd was asinine. It's not like there weren't folks warning him/the Skins about the guy.

was watching PTI and they were asking who was the bigger idiot...Al Davis or Dan Snyder. Snyder got the nod. I'd have to say it's a toss-up, although Davis, back in the day had Madden.

I don't think Al Davis should be mentioned with Danny Boy.

Al worked himself through the football ranks to get where he was. He didn't waltz in with a billion of so dollars and assume control of an organization.

Davis is a bizarre cat, but the man made himself the face of his franchise through a heck of a lot of hard work, paying dues, and being a lifelong fan of football.

I just did a search for his biography. i don't know it by heart, but I did remember an NFL Films piece that was pretty impressive.

He was an assistant coach (after being a college coach for about a decade) for three years before he took over as head coach of the Raiders. He turned around that franchise, was named coach of the year, and was elected as Commissioner of the AFL. He aquired control of the Raiders over time, by money and guile, and made it a very successful franchise. Under his guidance, they won 13 division titles, 1 AFL title and 3 Super Bowls. He's now in the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

Comparing that guy to Dan Snyder?

Not in my book.

Agreed on Davis, but I think he's fair game if you're talking about who's more clueless NOW.

He doesn't get it...at all. He's trying to force Lane Kiffin to resign right now because Lane won't let him make decisions on the coaching staff after Al promised he wouldn't meddle about 12 months ago.

Peter King did some good legwork in his MMQB article, but their record since 2003 is 19-61. The Texans are 9 games better than that. He's had 4 head coaches in the last 4 years and he's trying to force Kiffin out now to make it 5 in 5.

The guy has clearly, clearly lost it despite his rightful respect in football history. They are the worst run organization in sports, though Danny Boy will be able to earn that title when the old man finally kicks the bucket.

the question posed was who was more clueless NOW.

Unless Danny Boy has some master plan that no one else knows about, he and Cerrato are effing up the organization once again.

You have to admit, Al's a snappy dresser though

Right...I think Davis is more clueless NOW.

Dude's about to hire his 5th coach in 5 years. He drafted a resignation letter for Kiffin and is demanding he sign it (so Davis doesn't have to pay the rest of his contract). Kiffin is refusing and interviewing coordinators. Davis is interviewing head coaching candidates.

That franchise makes the Skins look like the Patriots.

Another thing - while you could say both men were nuts for going into the past to find recent coaches, Snyder's hire of Gibbs brought stability and respectability (in a way) to the Skins.

Nothing against Davis' credentials (and if we're talking overall, I'd take Davis without thinking twice), but he re-hired Art Shell because no one else would take the job, then fired him a year later. That team has no identity, because they haven't had enough stability in the coaching staffs to establish an identity.

The climates for both of those teams are vastly different.

snyder perplexes me because he takes a team that actually got tighter and better after their star player is murdered, a team that made the playoffs, a team that has the 8th ranked defense, a team with a seemingly up and coming QB, and he rips the coaching staff apart and starts all over (granted the defense won't change much but still...).

It looks like it could be a good time to live in DC as an Eagles fan again.

as a Skins Fan.. They gotta be say'n WTF? They had a great coaching staff and were heading in the right direction and the owner has to step in and "muck it up" (feel free to change the m to an f).

There is no team I hate worse then the Deadskins after living in NOVA for 8 years.. I gotta chuckle at this one.. They have a loyal fan base that loves to sell their seats to other team's fans..

Tickets for the Eagles Skins game at FEDEX next year should be easy to get....

I love it..

Al Davis had to hire a low level assistant coach from a college program because no one wants anything to do with coaching his train wreck of a team right now. That makes him worse than Snyder to this point, who has only had to lower himself to hiring a successful college head coach as his "worst hire". Now if Schottenheimer goes to the Raiders, all bets are off.

I think Snyder should look to Kornhieser.. He is a Redskin Homer if there ever was one... He would make for great post game news conferences
