And they know that ain't gonna happen. They know we will keep coming back year after year after year. And the fans take it up the tailpipe while their wallets get emptied.

I don't know about that. People can only take so much. One more losing season, McNabb leaves, and suddenly I don't see a whole lotta motivation for many people to continue to come.

They will struggle being competitive if they sit pat like they always do. The Skins got a huge WR in Thomas. So, now the Birds have the smallest secondary and an ancient playing safety.

I totally agree. We all realize they benefitted from a weak NFC East, and now that the rest of the division has stepped it up, they're getting left in the dust with their ridiculous philosophies.

Mule lives on.

There's one long enough to ride out any losing seasons that may happen. And with the way this league is, a 5-11 team is a 10-6 team the next year.

I haven't read any of this thread yet, but I will go on record as being shitfaced.

My thoughts thus far:

- Excellent value across the board. Laws was a steal where they got him. Jackson was a steal where they got him. Getting a first round round pick in '09 was a steal for trading down. Lorenzo Booker was a good pickup with a 4th rounder.

THAT SAID...

Total fucking "F" so far. They didn't need a DT that high. Trading down twice...with players on the board who could have helped them? Haven't dealt Lito?

Just a bit of a fucking letdown in a number of ways. They've again did a great job of assuring they'll be competitive 3 years from now at the expense of today.

Not being able to move Lito is a colossal failure. A .500 team over the last 3 years not making a first round pick in 2 of those 3 years? Not being able to get back into the 2nd round for a 3rd selection yet and about 37 second day picks still sitting there?

Fail. Fail. Fail. Despite great value on their moves, I'm not sure the technically solid moves help them win this year.

Also, thank science the Skins are such clowns.

I'm trying to remain somewhat positive about this draft so far, but it is hard. I don't have a problem with getting Desean in the second so much, but it would seem better if the Eagles had at least tried in the first.

So who are you taking, Coach?

"I don't know. Not yet. There are too many variables," said Reid. "There are too many trades, variables. Who wants what? You get a grouping of names. When you're picking at 19, you get 15 or 16 names up there that you like, you're going to get one of them, just by percentages. You're going to get one of those guys. That is the important thing.

...umm, OK...

There was still help on the OL at 19, but more of a MJG project type player. OK, you pass on that...but almost every CB/S pick was still available (as well as every WR) I'm just really baffled Reid's lack of effort this time around. Bring on the next sub par season capped by the Cap championship...again.

Reid said he was going to take Otah but that the trade offer was too sweet to pass up. (Next year's RD 1 pick)

The Patriots are known for finding gems. A third of their current is made up of players taken after the 3rd round. (Some reporter on TV).

Now I see. We're competing with the patriots for gems. And that's why we have to have 2 first round picks next year.

Your joking right.

You can't actaully think the fans will stay away.

Eagles have owned this region for years and years.

The Eagles season ticket waiting list is like 10-15 years. Maybe more. Who knows. They don't publish it anywhere I know of.

I've been on it for 5 years and I don't even know were I stand.

Not that I would go to every game or even one game a year but just so I could sell them on ebay or to my friends and family.

The Redskins have a 20 year waiting list.

My brother waited 20 years and finally got his tickets in the last row in the upper deck. No becaus ehe is a Redskin but strictly from a business standpoint.

The fans will not stay away. And Lurie knows that.

The Giants season ticket list is like 20 years as well.

For every fan who bails out of disgust there are 5 more waiting for the seats.

Just the way it is.

My thoughts after sitting back back a bit.....

I don't have a problem with a team moving down when they feel there is no player of the positions worth, And when they move they gain draft picks that can improve them now, and the future. Saying that, I have a problem with an 8-8 team that needs players today!
My question is why go this route, pretty much weird re-build in a way. Lot's of middle round pick that they can HOPE turns out, or just pass the buck, that it was nothing more than a middle rounder who didn't.

I guess my biggest issue is that they were looking at Mendenhall available and passed. In todays NFL , you NEED two really good RB's. Fact is, take a look at this "O" without Westbrook. It gets scary and ugly fast. This is now a two back leauge, and its a crime to let him go.

At what point do you have to question that this was all about $$$ and not improving a team? I could be wrong, but what happened to the Fat Bastard who said "we take the best player available?"

Last thought...as a Delaware kid,I always root for the Blue Hen's, but Falcco will be a bust.

I love that they passed on Otah (or any O-lineman at 19) for another 1st rounder next year. In the words of 736 I've just become a fan of every team that plays the Panthers this year.

Booker for a 4th rounder is nice. Not a change of pace from Westbrook, but a nice complement. He's somebody that brings a similar skill set should Westbrook go down. They won't have to deviate from their game plan too much.

Desean Jackson where they got him is a nice pick. The return game has immediately been upgraded, he's no Bloom. Hopefully he can get on the field with the offense.

Hope they can move Lito for something, if not the secondary is looking awesome, as long as Sheppard doesn't turn into a dick. If they move Sheppard for something, they're still in good shape.

Overall I'm pleased with day one. They have a lot to work with on day two... should be interesting.

I wonder what the Draft gurus give the Eagles as a grade. Since they traded out, hardly anyone analyzes how they did. Meanwhile, it seems like the analysts like what the Cowboys did.

Johnson

Wow, I want what your drinking or smoking. No offense brother, but how can you be pleased?

This team went 8-8 last year and passed on their 1st round pick and their second round pick to draft a DT from ND.

F the draft picks for next year. Ridiculous.

They didn't think anyone was worthy to draft for the offense in the top 46 picks?

There were some good OTs, WRs, and most of all RBs in those first 46.

Then they finally draft an offensive player, a midget 5'9" WR/PR who many on this site did not like including myself.

If they stayed were there were in the draft they could have got IMO better players which could have been starters next year.

How do they not think after last year that they do not need impact players on offense?

Westbrook had his best season last year but I guess they figure he can play at that level forever.

Lets fkn plan for a SB victory in 2015.

This team keeps thinking the future is later instead of now.

Sorry don't like their thinking at all.

If anything they outsmarted themselves again.

Grade F-

F THEM.

Reid is so frustrating trying to prove his genius. With guys like Otah, Talib, Mendenhall, Phillips, etc. STILL ON THE BOARD AND THINKING NONE OF THEM CAN HELP THIS TEAM NOW?!?!?!

How many years will the Eagles be dominated by the Cowboys and Giants (and to some extent - Redskins)? They can evaluate talent and are willing to pay for 1st round talent, Dallas twice.

Man I hate the management on this team.

Reid on press conference: "The 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th rounds have a lot of talent in there and we wanted to make sure we had enough picks to make sure we could get a lot of them."

Reid must die now. I can't believe he actually said that.

Ummm. Asshole... Their was a lot of talented offensive players in the 1st and second round as well.

And you passed on all of them.

It's a good thing Reid wasn't drafting back in 1983.

He would have told us that there was better draft picks in round 4 and 5 than in rounds 1 and 2.

I'm done and disgusted.

Lets go Phils, Flyers, and Sixers!

The DT is a mystery - EVEN IF he turns into a nice #2/3 DT, is that worth a 2nd round pick?

As for DeSean, see my earlier posts. I've seen a ton of this kid's college games, and I think he has a chance to be a star. Way more than just a return specialist. Plus, I'm sure we've all heard that he's been working with Jerry Rice. I can think of worse mentors for a WR.

Does this mean we start thinking about life with Lito?

I love the Jackson pick but Reid can drink bleach for trading out of the first with Phillips, the Illinois RB and several other good offensive players still available.

Carolina better go 3-13 or some bullshit next year, that's all I know.

I'm not a huge fan of the trades, but there is a lot of value should the Panthers be as bad as they can be....If they did all of this to save money and are working out a new contract for Lito..then it's a winner for day one, Eagles have the best secondary in the NFL.

For fuckssake.

Phillips at Safety would have been a good choice. I liked Dexter Jackson from App State if they are really looking for a return man. Desean is 165 soaking wet. He's too weak to do much.

I was screaming when I saw Mendenhall still available.

And fucking DT. Jizus fucking kriest. I mean no fucking excuse. Your most pressing needs were depth in order WR, S, DE, depth at Oline.

What did you get? The shortest version of Pinkston available and another 6' DT.

You have a reasonably good QB that you provided with a weapon only 1.5 years in his nearly 10 year career with this team.

Gari Scott, Na Brown, James Thrash, Torrance Small, Pinkston, Charles Johnson, Greg Lewis, Fred Mitchell, F Milons, what a FUCKING JOKE!!!!!!
