I'd love for the Eagles to get a real beast at DE. For ONCE.
230 lbs? That is light even for MLB for cripessake.
The Mule doggedgly trudges along the trail not taken. Since it leads off a cliff.
What a stupid tard! I've seen that stupid stubborn look on women before when I'm arguing with them (and they think they know/remember the whole story and they are wrong), telling a smarmy resident why he's still a neophyte or obstinate surgeons who believe that you are stupid (making it even worse). The WORST person ever to encounter is a person who is stubborn, stupid and arrogant. Oh yeah, meet the HC of your beloved Iggles.
S.S.A. = Mule.

ENOUGH WITH THE FUCKING CAP HIT WITH CHAD JOHNSON. This has to be the most erroneous rumor in the history of capology.
1.It will cost 5-6 million if cut before June 1st (the man's salary will not have to be paid, and to the Bengals that is better than a $15 million cap hit)
2. If he is traded after June 1st, that number is cut in half.
If you want to say that Johnson is not going to be traded because the Bengals are stubborn idiots, fine. But it will have nothing, NOTHING to do with the cap.

Why does everybody think the 3rd rounder (Bryan Smith) is lining up along the defensive line? I figured he was another Gocong DE convert to LB project (which still doesn't make sense to me in the 3rd round). If they try to use that dude as a situational pass rusher I might wet myself from laughing.
Reid said in his post draft press conference that they see him as DE and like his speed off the edge. Adding (and I quote...unfortunately):
"He'll fit in nice with the things we do defensively. Again, keeping in mind we like to throw fastballs at the offense"

Johnson,
I don't care what they drafted him for--they already have a guy just like this in Gocong and I'm not sure that he is a real player yet.

MSLewis- who are you talkin to here?
Ray Diddy has issues with the FO since he was so vocal pre and post the McNabb Booing Draft.
He felt Ricky was the pick, and predicted Cade McNown to have a better pro career and wanted Philly to take him in the move down deal that was supposedly offered by Ditka to Philly.
He really hammered them makin the rounds after that draft- one in which they had already polarized themselves from teh entire city it seemed, including the Mayor.
Sensitive I suppose- but he's alluded to not the chummiest of relationships with the coach and F.O. since then when he used to have a show on WIP on Saturdays that I used to listen to (With the ever annoying Don McKee).
He questions EVERY draft- EVERY one and SELDOM cites them as having made a good deal or pick. I dont think he's as bad as the brutally see-through Eckel (nice face!), but he kinda has not the best track record in evaluation of college players hows that?
Jerry Porter was the next Terrell Owens
Cade McNown to be better than McNabb
There are plenty of others- but I'll just chose to listen to the Mighty HOF Writer's opinions with a grain or 2 of salt.
EVERYONE is overlooking the Booker deal. Its startin to chap the arse a little.
You tellin me Ray Diddy didnt even MENTION that trade?

From a Philly.com article: On the second day of the draft, the same Eagles spent a fourth-round selection on a cornerback, Jack Ikegwuonu, who is recovering from a major knee injury and won't be able to play this season.
I'm no doctor (Jules) so I don't know how quickly this guy could heal up before the regular season. I think the team is better off if he gets put on IR.
Given the fact that this team always drafts far more guys than they can keep, it's not a bad move to take a risk on an injured guy with upside. It's pretty much like red-shirting him and keeping his slot open on the regular and practice squads. He sits around and learns the playbook for an extra season. Plus you're paying relatively lowball salary to lock him up since he's injured which lessens his leverage.
Not a bad way to hedge a bet, at least for teams that are going to flood their camp with healthy bodies that just get cut.

"ENOUGH WITH THE FUCKING CAP HIT WITH CHAD JOHNSON. This has to be the most erroneous rumor in the history of capology."
If cut after June 1, the cap hit would be around 6 million, from what I have read.
The cap hit is a huge consideration here--I would argue that it has just as much to do with Cincy refusing to trade him. He just signed a 6 year extension 3 years ago and all of that bonus and salary money would be counted against this year's cap.
If you have documentation that says otherwise, please share it with the rest of us.

Seth, like that trade.
Not sold on Jackson AT ALL. He's one solid hit away from decapitation. Having him and Curtis lining up will mean only a bump is necessary for neither will run anywhere. The result? Welcome back (with a vengence) COVER ZERO! They need a strong, tall WR who can make catches in traffic and actually use the fade route in the end zone. Result? Nothing.
McNabb will once again "suck".
This team needed some real quality depth. Didn't get it at TE. Remember LJ was injured (or is always injured) and when Schoboat went down, they were too thin at TE.

I don't think anyone is overlooking the Booker deal...I think they are playing wait and see. This is a guy who has some potential, but was traded for a lower pick 1 year after he was drafted (from a RB starved team).
I think it's tempered enthusiasm until we get to see him play. It would be like some team counting their RB problems as "solved" if the Eagles would have traded them Tony Hunt for a 4th rounder this year (at this point).

I'm with MLewis here. $6 million...$8 million...the cap hit isn't an issue. the issue is two-fold:
- The Bengals legendary cheapness. It's not that they cannot afford to make the move and work with it in the cap, but a matter of fiscal frugality that would chap their ass.
- Precedent. Just about every pro bowl caliber player who signed an extension before the CBA was renegotiated wants more money and I think teams are making a concerted effort to not meet their demands for a trade and open the flood gates.

Dont have the documentation, just know that the $8 million number is not right. PEter King wrote about it, I will try to get it.
Jules,
LJ is not "Always Hurt". Another misconception. He was injured last season, In the offseason IMO. He missed 6 games, but was completely ineffective.
Before that, he missed 1...1 game in four years due to injury.

Again, we go back to Corey Dillon and his legendary complaining after he re-signed with them, only to get traded for a 4th round pick and laugh at the Bengals when he won a title with NE.
Other owners are rooting for the Bengals, because (as mentioned) a trade allows every player unhappy with their contract to demand more money. Throw in CJ's whining and the physical altercation, and it'll take a lot for him to get traded.

And the Bengals aren't alone here.
Boldin, Lito, and Ocho are all in the same boat. Deangelo Hall was in the same boat. Anyone else? I'm sure there are more.

Speaking of Hunt. Rich Hoffman had some interesting info re: Hunt/Booker situation.....Big red wanted Booker in '07. When he went to Miami, they settled for Hunt, but booker was their guy, specifically because of his resemblance to #36.
I am not sure why Miami is all that bad @ RB. Parcells likes Ricky Williams, a lot. Ronnie Brown has been good when healthy and Jessie Chatman played good last year. With Parcells coming in, and Booker not being one of his guys, I can see him being expendable. I like the booker signing a lot.
So who does everyone believe will get the AXE as of the draft class of '08:
1.Considine is out (Mikell, Dawk, Demps and Reid)
2.Moats is gone and Hunt is on notice (I cant see them holding onto 4 RB)
3.Mcdone nothing
4.Scott Young (MJG/TH will play LG and the other will sit, the Pitt kid will be a bacjup as well)
5.G-lew (always hangs on, but DJ will do him in)
6.Reno

Booker looks tiny to me, he was the #1 RB recruit in the country coming out of HS, made the prototypical big signing day TV press conference to announce he was gonna be a CrimiNole and has pretty much been a disappointment ever since.
Always when he played for FSU and the few clips of him at Miami he looks small. Warrick Dunn minus the wiggle, I suppose.

--Do the math. You have Westbrook, Booker, Buckhalter--where does that leave Hunt? I doubt they'll carry 4 RBs--leaves Hunt as the odd-man out.

it would be like that, except that would never happen because booker looks like much more of a player than hunt and did a lot more his rookie season.

NICE!
I think Gocong is probably in the 250ish range right now. He came out at 265 thinking he'd be playing DE, but I think I read he's been focusing on slimming down to move better and played between 250 and 260 last year.
