Goin to fall inbetween you two.
I dont think I can name TWENTY guys better, but its close.
I definately think FB has a point with regards to being bogged down in Miami career-wise and that even in Reids system, his career #s would be far far better.
I think in the right system, he has the skills to be a top 15-18 WR and thats a No.1 WR for sure.

The list of guys I'd take in front of him is probably:
- T.O.
- Moss
- Ocho
- Fitz
- Boldin
- Wayne
- Edwards
- Andre Johnson
- Harrison
- Holt
- Ward
- Colsten
- Roy Williams
- Calvin Johnson
- Plax
- Brandon Marshall
- Steve Smith
Those are the guys off the top of my head and I think that's 17 if I'm counting right.
That's not including guys like Roddy White, Housh, Welker, Curtis, Galloway, Bowe, etc. who have had better statistical seasons recently. I'd throw Chambers somewhere in that group, ahead of guys like Curtis.
I like Chambers, so I think we all kinda agree. I just don't think I'd double team him or worry too much about him. He's capable of 100 yards any game, he's capable of 1,000 receiving yards in a season, etc. I just don't think he ever takes over games and he drops a lot of passes.

Freakin Joey will NOT die. Amazing.
F-d, can you post Chambers drop stats? I wasn't aware that he had a problem with this, I always thought he had above average hands. But I admittedly lost track of him down in Miami after awhile so it's definitely a possibility that he regressed.

I just went off the top of my head, but I'd put Housh and Chambers in that same category (not quite #1s, but could absolutely murder you as a number 2).
I think Chambers would be a monster next to a star like Owens, Ocho, Moss, etc., but think he (much like Housh) won't set the world on fire as if they are the best WR on the team.

I don't know where the stats are...there is a site or two that tracks them, but I can't remember where they are.
The book on him for the past couple years is:
- Can produce
- Can make highlight reel catches
- Drops a lot of routine passes
- Inconsistent/inconsistent effort
I remember a couple years ago when he was struggling very badly with some scrub at QB, he was getting targets but was just dropping everything.
If you google Chambers and drops, I'm sure you'll get some articles or blogs discussing it, though. it might have simply been boredom and lack of desire from playing on a crap team with crap QBs.

The fact is though that the Eagles are infamous for not drafting solid WR's. Pinkston, FredEx, and Brown is a season away from joining them if he performs poorly enough to lose his role. If they bring in a 'stud' WR from elsewhere, Jackson can be added to that list, because Curtis' contract and whomever they bring in will make him just a return guy for years to come, lucky to get 30 balls thrown his way (and not in the Dsly way) in a season.
Meanwhile, they bring in guys like TO, Stallworth and Curtis, and they have great seasons (expecting Donte to have had similar numbers as Curtis if he could lay off the injuries).
I'm thinking they need to stop drafting WR's and start signing/trading for them.

I just had to add this...
I was watching DNL a couple nights ago and Bryan Smith was on, the 44 year old "fastball" the Eagles took out of Bumfuck U in the top portion of the 3rd round. Nothing against him, but facts are facts.
At any rate, Barkann asks him "Before the draft, what were your expectations...what were your highest expectations in terms of where you'd be drafted?"
Answer?
Bottom 3rd, or hopefully somewhere in the 4th
The gold standard actually thinks more of him than he thinks of himself in his wildest dreams?
FASTBALL!

The usual thing is to wait three years to tell if a draft is a bust. After Benson was nabbed, I looked up his draft class.
1 San Francisco Alex Smith - QB
2 Miami Ronnie Brown - RB
3 Cleveland Braylon Edwards - WR
4 Chicago Cedric Benson - RB
5 Tampa Bay Carnell Williams - RB
6 Tennessee Adam Jones - DB
7 Minnesota Troy Williamson - WR
8 Arizona Antrel Rolle - DB
9 Washington Carlos Rogers - DB
10 Detroit Mike Williams - WR
11 Dallas DeMarcus Ware - DE
12 San Diego Shawne Merriman - LB
13 New Orleans Jammal Brown - OT
14 Carolina Thomas Davis - DB
15 Kansas City Derrick Johnson - LB
16 Houston Travis Johnson - DE
17 Cincinnati David Pollack - LB
18 Minnesota Erasmus James - DE
19 St. Louis Alex Barron - OT
20 Dallas Marcus Spears - DE
21 Jacksonville Matt Jones - WR
22 Baltimore Mark Clayton - WR
23 Oakland Fabian Washington - DB
24 Green Bay Aaron Rodgers - QB
25 Washington Jason Campbell - QB
26 Seattle Chris Spencer - C
27 Atlanta Roddy White - WR
28 San Diego Luis Castillo - DT
29 Indianapolis Marlin Jackson - DB
30 Pittsburgh Heath Miller - TE
31 Philadelphia Mike Patterson - DT
32 New England Logan Mankins - OG
Just didn't pay to draft early that year. Almost half the first round are already on their way out of the league.

Butt ugly and still so new. Merriman, Ware, and Braylon save the class a little bit and Ronnie Brown was on his way, but that was a whole bucket of slop for such a recent draft.

Clayton and Miller are pretty good. Clayton underproduced but he hasn't had a good QB to throw to him. Miller has been understated but I think effective for the Steelers.
And, yes, I too am in agreement with the consensus of the ass-equivalent nature of that first round.

Really interesting note about the rooks. I haven't been paying much attention, but this was news to me. If this is accurate, it would appear Jackson and Laws will not be in TC on time, which typically (at least for the Birds) means they won't get as much PT this year.
I can read the season ending "state of the team" report already...blaming lack of immediate impact on the "lost time" in TC.
Second-round signings
The Eagles have signed all of their draft picks, except second-rounders Trevor Laws and DeSean Jackson. If they had a first-round pick this year, he likely would not be signed, either.
We say that based on a entry in John Clayton's ESPN.com Insider blog. Only three first-rounders, including Penn Charter product Matt Ryan with the Falcons, and one second-rounder have signed.
The players union is seeking a Special Master to resolve a dispute involving guaranteed bonuses and how they are calculated within the rookie salary pool. Of course, anything with long-term contracts is complicated by the fact that 2011 -- or the fourth year of contracts signed this year -- is an uncapped year.
Here is an excerpt from Clayton's blog: "Under the rookie pool, base salaries can only increase 25 percent per year, but agents found a loophole in which a draft choice can receive a one-time bonus and guarantee it in the final year of the contract. This particularly affects second-round choices because they sign four-year deals. The problem in this summer's negotiations is that there is no collective bargaining agreement in 2011 so the fourth year of the contract can't be involved in any kind of guarantees."
The sides will present their arguments and the Special Master will rule next week. Of course, Eagles rookies are expected to report Monday night to Lehigh. The agents for Jackson and Laws have not returned calls from the Daily News this week.
It would be unfortunate if players who want to be in training camp are not because of a bigger issue outside their control. If a player holds out and falls behind, that is on him. You can't blame the players here who would be following the advice of their union and trying to protect their own interests. Yo, click it

Jackson better have an immediate impact, at least as the return man everybody hopes he can be. Otherwise it's back to Reno Mahe.

BTW, I didn't know Jackson was the cover boy for NCAA 2009 (just saw it in the same article as his signing).

EAGLES INK LAWS
Posted by Mike Florio on July 21, 2008, 7:12 p.m.
The Eagles have announced that they’ve reached an agreement with defensive tackle Trevor Laws, their first of two second-round picks in 2008.
The Eagles now have all ten of their draft picks under contract.
The rookies report for training camp on Monday night, and veterans will report on Thursday.
