I think that's what makes it odd. I remember years ago there was a guy (McAda?) who was drafted, but he was a long shot and the new policy wasn't in place.
I'd like to see the guy give it a shot in camp. If he doesn't make the cut, so be it. Serve his country like he intended. If he does, you can get great use out of his presence - especially given how much time and money the NFL does when working with the USO.
