I read that Malcolm Kelly ran a 4.7 40 in his pro-day--gotta think that makes him drop down to rnd 2.

That kid Clady has been rising pretty steadily since the end of the season. I haven't seen him play, so I am not sure if he is good or not, but his stock is soaring.

The Otah pick you throw out there is a good possibility. Williams out of Vandy is another option @ 19.

I wouldn't be shocked if they drafted another CB with their 1st pick--andy collects them like fat dorky kids collect pogs.

I think its Williams all the way.

I think that they'll ultimately feel they need to use Lito to move up to get him.

I think Denver will/could be a likely trade partner.

BTW, if Mendenhall falls that far (which he very well could) whoever gets him is going to get a steal. That kid is the truth.

I wouldn't be upset if they had to move up to get Williams, but only if they don't give up too much. I think Lito + the Eagles #1 should get them near the top-10, but I am not totally convinced that they couldn't get a similar player if they can't get Williams.

From everything I have read, this draft is deep, but there is no overwhelming "can't miss" player this year.

Seth, I think Denver would be a possibility. I think the Bills and Ravens are possibilities, too.

The thing with the Broncos is they desperately need a LT. If they have their heart set on one, I think they'll take him. The thing about trading back is I think they have to like about 3 of them equally in order to feel comfortable at 19 and even that is a gamble. I think there are going to be runs on CB and OT in the first round.

With the Ravens, I think they will want to move back if Matt Ryan isn't there. I think they would be the most likely to trade down as a whole.

Additionally, they need a CB. So...what if the Eagles dealt them Lito, #19, and maybe a throwaway pick in the 6th round?

The Ravens solve their CB problem, they still get a good prospect at 19 (where they can draft a tackle), and they can feel good about the first round. The position they are targeting will likely depend on Ogden, who's seriously considering retirement, but is supposedly being swayed by Harbaugh. Word out of Baltimore is they want Sheppard, but they feel the Eagles asking price might be too high.

With the Bills, it depends on who is there and how much they like the guy. Believe it or not, the Bills don't have a lot of serious needs. Their biggest need, as far as I can tell, is DT. Second would probably be WR. Third might be TE. 4th might be DE/CB. They are solid, though. If they don't love a WR there (and in my scenario both DTs are gone), I think they'll try to move back and draft the guy they were going to take PLUS pick up another pick. Just a guess.

Devin Thomas- waaaay back (really just a couple wks ago) i tabbed D.Thomas as the WR i felt (and then, they coulda- where his stock was) gotten in rd.2 and one I really liked.

Then I read what someone posted about the Eagles bein interested in him and got semi-excited.

Well like many, the stock on this cat is rising--- but at 11?

I canNOT see that. He has but 1 yr of real play to evaluate. I get the specs/speed factors and some GMs are all taken in with that- but theres no way this guy (IMO) should go any higher than 24ish, on purely a talent level vs what picks are worth in rd 1.

I think he may end up bein the best WR in the class, but I dont think he'll be the 1st taken.

Id say Kelly and maybe DeSean Jackson could both go before Thomas is tabbed.

With Devin Thomas, here's how I came up with it.

I think the Bills need a DT and WR above all else. There's no DT there, so I think it goes to WR.

With Kelly running a 4.73 yesterday and only jumping 32 inches, I think his stock will fall a bit while Thomas is on the rise. I think the Bills will try to trade back and still get Thomas, but if they can't they'll just take him. and don't forget the Bills have employed this philosophy before (reaching for a player they liked, who was supposed to go lower if they couldn't trade down) when they took Whitener, and it worked out for them.

Again, I'm not really arguing, but that's how I came up with it.

OK,

"Who do you think will take him?"

If i had to say now- Id say Denver takes Lito, slides to 19 and still gets their OT in Otah.

Philly moves up to 12 and grabs Williams.

Thats my call and I doubt it will change by the time the Draft Party kicks in and we're throwin cash around based on predictions.

Thats why I no longer do a 'mock draft'-- here or anywhere- the past few yrs have proven to be almost futile in guessin where guys go.

The best you can do is ID a FEW needs per team, but even Matt Millen will trash any scenario if you follow that LOGIC....

on a pick by pick basis is how we, those at the D-party, now fill it out, as things change- trades are made that wipe out supposed needs, guys fall as a result of this sometimes, and youd think we;d all learn by now but Andy rarely stays put when he has a pocketful of picks.

I also think Jackson is not a fit to Buffalo because he's essentially the same type of player as Lee Evans and his return skills don't benefit them greatly because they have a good return situation.

With Dre Bly and Champ Bailey, do you think they'll trade for Lito (who also wants a contract)?

Maybe they'd do it for a pick, but I think Lito wouldn't fit for that particular team.

I just think that MOST people say theyre futile, and I really never agreed until very recently.
Its easier to get conversation goin tho, which i'll readily do, once a Mock (anyone's) is posted.

FD, I alluded to it earlier but I think they'll essentialy waste lito.

I think they could get Denver to move down for a pick and their 1st, but I think they'll move lito to move up. Period.

Denver doesnt seem to need a CB, surely- but if its thrown at you (A pro-bowl CB) for essentially nothing, and at that price (he IS still under contract and has ZERO leverage) why not?

Sure, it makes more sense for the Bills at 11 to move down- and more sense for the Birds to move up to 11, but I think that PERHAPS the Eagles may find it a smidge tougher to deal with Buffalo than other teams, for starters.

Surely if they wanna address WR in the draft (Bills) they can have thier pick at 19 (agreed on Jackson not bein a good fit there).

At the pro Day yesterday or the day before?

I think it was just two guys (Kelly and Reggie Smith) who performed and neither ran fast, but their beef was "we had to run on fieldturf instead of astroturf". all the guys at the combine ran on fieldturf, and there aren't any pro teams with astroturf anymore, so I'm not sure how much they can bitch.

Further on movin up;
I would be very surprised that Philly could put something together that THEY felt OK with, to get up to 8.

This would be the ultimate scenario (agreed) but 1 thing in doin mocks for years under this F.Os regime?

Its the most frustrating thing ever, save maybe bein the guy who applies the mist and checks the lighting on those SI Swimsuit shoots.

You can see in an intelligent manner what they need, or what they should do, and even how it would work out for them with another club, and what a fair price would be, and again- what to do with that newly obtained pick- and they'll getchya half the way there and then punch you in the nads.

Or be bull-headed.

I think Lito and the 19th overall and a forth for 8 overall would be fair- it IS tough to get up there; but they'd likely balk. I can so see them offerin the 6th over the 4th and holdin tight.

Frankly I would think that would maximize value for lito, (barring a Roy W and a 2nd or 3rd plus Lito to Lions) and i'd be happy that they at leasy maxed out on the bargaining chip.

Even if it WAS on an OL.

I just dont see them wantin to get up in the top 10. I think they're goin to have the subconcious "too costly" visors on if that scenario came up in the warroom.

you want a PERFECT example of what i outlined above as how frustratin it can be as a fan of above avg. intellect, to try to predict or map out in your head how it woudl all work out for them to draft or move up and draft?

The year they got Shawn Andrews. Now I love the guy, the pick, all of it.

But I was utterly stunned when the move up was announced and then that was the pick.

I was estatic cos I felt "here comes the LB" (DJ Williams).

It was a need.
Like WR, I had made myself believe that even tho the F.O. doesnt seem to value it- maybe under the right scenario, that they'd reverse course on that philosophy etc etc etc ....& when they did move up, man, I was SURE of it....

and then...Andrews.

And laughs from the table (I had removed myself and went to stand as close as possible to the TV for the 'great news').

F it.

That pick still chaps my ass.

Andrews is a really good player, but:

- He missed his entire rookie season because of a broken leg (which might have had something to do with the fact that he was 70 lbs. overweight).

- He was good in year two, but too fat to stay on his feet for screens or to pull.

- He was great in 2006, but left the biggest game of the year (Saints Playoffs) with a stiff neck in the first quarter.

- He was good in 2007, but didn't dominate as much (partly due to lingering injuries).

- The Eagles are 23-24 in games he's started since he arrived.

- They traded UP in the draft for an overweight guard.

- They paid the man twice already.

If he starts for 10 years it'll be worth it. If he moves out to tackle and dominates, it will DEFINITELY be worth it.

I just don't see the upside to trading up and taking a guard that high. The 2003 and 2004 drafts are very much responsible for the Eagles recent suckage.

To keep the discussion going, here's my OFFICIAL///LOLZ///FOOTBALL///DRAFT/// 2nd round mock. Keep in mind this is EVEN MORE worthless than my first round mock and many of these picks are based on that first round. For instance, I might have a CB being taken by a team in round two because they drafted another position in round one of my useless draft.

F-dallas 2nd Round Mock:

32. Dolphins - LB Dan Connor

33. Rams - CB Antoine Cason

34. Falcons - QB Brian Brohm

35. Chiefs - WR James Hardy

36. Jets - TE Fred Davis

37. Falcons - DT Kentwan Balmer

38. Ravens - CB Patrick Lee

39. 49ers - LB Curtis Lofton

40. Saints - TE John Carlson

41. Bills - DT Trevor Laws

42. Broncos - DT Pat Sims

43. Panthers - S Dejuan Morgan

44. Bears - QB Joe Flacco

45. Lions - DE Lawrence Jackson

46. Bengals - CB/S Reggie Smith

47. Vikings - WR Early Doucet

48. Falcons - OT Carl Nicks

49. Eagles - CB/RS Tracy Porter

50. Cardinals - RB Chris Johnson

51. Redskins - DT Dre Moore

52. Buccaneers - CB Brandon Flowers

53. Steelers - LB Erin Henderson

54. Titans - TE Martellus Bennett

55. Seahwaks - WR/RS Eddie Royal

56. Green Bay - OG Chilo Rachal

57. Dolphins - LB/DE Cliff Avril

58. Jaguars - WR MArio Maningham

59. Colts - LB Xavier Adibi

60. Packers - CB Charles Godfrey

61. Cowboys - OT Sam Baker

62. Patriots - LB/DE Darrell Robertson

63. Giants - CB Justin King

Also, I'm editing my first round mock.

I'm thinking Chris Long, Jake Long, and Glenn Dorsey (int hat order). The fact that the Falcons have Jamal Anderson and John Abraham on the roster slipped my mind until it was brought to my attention and I think the Jake Long to Miami talk is a smokescreen aimed at getting a better deal with another pick.

Eagles Picks in my useless Mocks (V1):

1st round: LT Chris Williams (Vandy)

2nd Round: CB/RS Tracy Porter (Indiana)

I really doubt Williams is there when the Eagles pick, but when I was going through team needs and players available, that's just how it went. For the record, I'd much rather have either Mike Jenkins or Talib if they fell.

For the purposes of a true mock, one would think that you could incorporate trades to account for some picks.

You say WILLIAMS now for the Eagles 1st pick, as i always maintained- but you account for no trade up, as i steadfastly insist is required to get him.

its like havin cake and eatin it too. Not good.

Not a bad on you FD, a "bad" on the whole Mock process/

We're better served talking about who will be there for Philly and who may end up as the surprise pick, than we are puttin our names on a mock.

We can guess with trades if you want, though.
