By Mark Curnutte, The Cincinnati Enquirer

CINCINNATI — Cincinnati Bengals coach Marvin Lewis said Tuesday the Bengals have not received any trade offers, including one from the Redskins for their first-round pick this year and third-round pick next year, for disgruntled wide receiver Chad Johnson.

And when asked if Johnson's threat to not to play would affect the team's draft plans, Lewis said it wouldn't, and added that Johnson should be prepared to sit out the season.

"I think he has made it clear he's not going to play, and that's what I've been aware of since the end of last season. I think it's time to do what you say you're going to do, and we'll move forward.

"He has a contract through 2011. He stated, without an opportunity to go to another team with a new contract he wasn't going to play. I think he's a man of his word, and says he's not going to play, so don't play."

In its report of the Redskins trade offer, ESPN.com said the 2009 pick could elevate to a first if Johnson were to hit performance incentives with Washington.

"Errant," is how Lewis described the report of the trade offer. "I don't think Mike Brown received a call."

"No," Lewis said again when asked if Brown had received any trade offers.

We all sense it's coming, right? RIGHT?

I'm basing it on a few factors we all know -

1) The low priority the FO puts on WRs (and though that trade is somewhat crazy of Lito/2nd for Boldin (and I totally called it if it happens, which it won't), there's someone in that FO that believes they shouldn't have to pay higher than a 3rd for a WR, since Donte Softserve and TO came at lower prices).
2) The high priority the FO is putting on the OL.
3) The fact that Lito's trade value is just a bit better than Enron stock (way to go Jerk-ert)

I can see the Birds throwing away Lito, with the justification that they traded an injury-prone CB who didn't want to play here for a stud OL that will play here for 15 years.

It's just asking for trouble.

"Im SWEATING (as posts suggest the better part of a month now) them 'burning' the Lito card.

We all sense it's coming, right? RIGHT?"

--It is sort of looking that way isn't it.

Getting a WR at this point is wishful thinking guys--its not gonna happen.

I could see them using Lito plus their 19 to move up and get an OT--not a popular move with the fans, but one that we have all seen coming.

IF they burn the Lito card to take an OT instead of just hanging around 19, and taking a different OT, most fans would be frustrated.

I actually hope they can get a 2nd for him--I'd rather have the 19 and a 2nd rounder than a top 10 pick this year.

They must be sold on someone--I'm thinking Clady--but I am throwing stuff against the wall--I have no clue.

I'm definitely in that camp, too. I'm hoping for as many first day (this year rounds 1 and 2) picks as possible.

I can't see the upside for trading up even though it seems like a mortal lock. They are in perfect position for value in this draft, IMO. 18, 19, 20 are the spots I'd be dying for in this draft unless I was dying for one of the top, top guys. It's the people between 7 and 17 who are paying more money for the same level talent here. Again, just my opinion.

I should clarify that a little...with the Eagles needs seemingly being OT, CB, S, and WR/RS, they couldn't be in a better spot for value.

FD,

CB? You are assuming that Lito is gone then?

As for WR, plenty of quality guys in later rounds, definitely for RB, definitely NOT for safety.

Yeah, I'm still assuming he's gone.

With safety, there are a couple sleeper guys out there for the second round. Reggie Smith from Oklahoma, Dujuan Morgan from NC State, that kid from Arkansas St., and a coupe, other guys they consider "tweeners" who project to safety at the next level. I agree there aren't many (any?) sure things at that position, though.

This is begging for a seperate thread asking everyone here on record what they THINK they'll do and what scenario they WANT them to do...

no question about 736. They will use lito to move up 3-5 picks and draft a tackle. Good pick for the future? Perhaps. But certainly not all in.

There is something that keeps ringing in the back of my head that maybe they do "get it" and will push the chips in...

The Minneapolis Star-Tribune has confirmed that the Eagles are now in the mix to acquire Chiefs franchise player Jared Allen.
However, the Star-Trib apparently got its info from an agent, cautioning that Chiefs GM Carl Peterson may be using Philly as leverage. The Eagles do have a wishy-washy situation opposite RE Trent Cole and quite a few draft picks at their disposal. The Chiefs want first- and second-round picks.

Philly was leverage.

Vikes aquired Allen for their 1st and both thirds they held in this yrs draft- per NFL Network.

Rumor from the ludicrous/DO NOT WANT file?
Eagles moving up with N.O., packaging Lito, 19 and add'l pick(s) to secure DT S.Ellis??????

If i was even remotely worried about this happening Id rail against it. Doesn't address a need in the least IMO

Alexander's done. His next move is to probably set up shop in Center City.

Boldin most certainly wants a new contract after the trade, but I don't see the Birds picking him up. Especially since there are other teams more willing than the Birds to give up a lot for him.

Screw Chad Johnson, Boldin is much better

If they were willing to trade for a guy, here's your chance- they were going to spend the money anyway on Moss- Boldin will be cheaper than that and is VERY good

Agree with FB here.

First, we touched on S.Alexander before.
The cat's got NOTHIN left- starting w/ heart.
How many writers etc, accurately predicted his rapid descent once he obtained the contract he was after?

The guy's slow and plodding anymore, nowhere NEAR the back who graced the cover of Madden after an MVP year. Add in the multitude of stories of how he's kinda a loner/bad teammate/whiney selfish jackass and this makes for one of the easiest calls to "PASS" since BD was clamoring for Carl Pickens to be signed to a FA Contract by the Eagles 6 yrs ago.

As for Boldin--- NOW NOW NOW.

I dont think he'd cost nearly what they wanted for Fitz. I would be all over them burning the now larger than life in my mind "Lito Card" on obtaining him. Lito and a 3rd? They'd likely want more- fine.
Lito and a 2nd? All over it.
I dont think he'd cost a 1st if they're packing up Lito with their 2nd and say a 4th. They have 2 fourths, 1 of which cant be traded as its compensatory.

Lito, 2nd rounder and their original 4th oughtta do it.

And you have an INSTANT upgrade and a dramatic one.
The kid's 27. Big body, AWESOME red zone target from a size standpoint, very solid hands and can run.

Id likely fall out on the floor at Hooters if that were to happen Saturday.
