If they do that, I'll take back everything bad I said about them.
Lito, a 2nd and a 4th would get it done. The question is, will they apply that to Zona, or use Lito to trade up, citing that they would still have their plethora of lower picks?
Getting someone like Boldin for that price is a no-brainer, not just for 5 but for Kolb as well. The question only becomes whether or not they view that as "overpaying".

Bass,
I think they've made it at least quasi clear that they're tryin to get a weapon (Established) for the offense.
The fact that Cincy reported that the Eagles and Cowboys were made aware AGAIN that CJ is off the mkt, when they rebuffed the Skins offer, tells you that its out there in league circles that Philly's lookin for a Veteran to trade for.
That said- I dont think they'd view a deal akin to the scenario I laid out, as paying to much, given that they'd hold their no.1 and that Boldin has the youth factor a guy like Johsnon doesnt.
Kolb would be able to benefit from the deal as well as 5 in the upcomin yr(s).

I see your point Seth (and part of me is thinking that Cincy is telling those teams that CJ's off the market, as opposed to the Birds actively pursuing him, but hey, I've been wrong before). Would figure that getting CJ in here would be all sorts of bad, especially after TO.
From a youth/performance standpoint (and I made mention of this before), Boldin seemed to be more of an obtainable commodity with all the stuff that happened with Fitz, even moreso after the contract. While the Birds would still hold their #1, they value those mid-round picks (and the lesser price tags associated with them). Personally, add the 2nd and 4th's $ values and make Boldin happy with a new contract, and you've got a reliable target for the up-and-comer, and a VERY good receiving corps.
I don't think that price (and maybe throwing in a throwaway pick in the 6th/7th rounds, or a low conditional one) would be overpaying, because of the benefit that you would receive as compared to possible potential from those picks. I think the Eagles do think that way, based on how they view them as brass rings in an arcade machine.
PLEASE prove me wrong, Eagles.

Via PFT.COM, Espn has reported that Philly's inquired about Boldin, and that the Skin's offer has already been turned down. Of course there's this years catch phrase among team officials this offseason, attached to the end of the article "We are not interested in trading ______________."
So, we'll see.
Anyhow:
Chris Mortensen of ESPN reports that the Cardinals have declined a trade offer from the Redskins for wide receiver Anquan Boldin. Per ESPN, the Philadelphia Eagles also have asked whether Boldin is available and have offered cornerback Lito Sheppard as part of a trade.
The Redskins’ interest shows that they’re serious about adding a receiver who can improve their passing game now, rather than drafting a receiver they hope can improve their passing game in the future. Yesterday Bengals coach Marvin Lewis first denied, then admitted, that the Redskins had made an offer for Johnson.
As for Boldin, who is reportedly unhappy that teammate Larry Fitzgerald makes significantly more money than he does, the Cardinals say he’s not going anywhere.
“We’re not interested in trading Anquan,” Cardinals General Manager Rod Graves told the Arizona Republic. “That’s the short of it.”
Graves said he hopes to work out a long-term contract extension to keep Boldin in Arizona, but he did acknowledge that “a few teams have called to inquire” about making a trade.

Cincy actually said they didn't receive offers.
Once again, after seeing some more "reporting" lately, not trusting any of these rumors

I believe that Lewis 1st denied any offers, then recanted and acknowledged that Skins did in fact make an offer that was rejected.

Yeah KB, he backed off that denial--claimed that he didn't see an offer until after the press conference.

Yeah, I saw Mort last night on ESPN and he said Marvin Lewis called him after the press conference to apologize and said he didn't see the offer before he commented, but it did come in and it was rejected.
I found that very curious, though. How does an offer get rejected without consulting the head coach unless they are dead serious that every offer will be rejected without a glance? OR it's possible Marvin doesn't have a say in this stand ownership it trying to make.

Couple of Misc. rumors as the week winds on:
Jets now officially spooked that Oakland tabs McFadden, rumored to be looking to move up now in the draft.
Saints have been tied to a Shockey trade for weeks, apparently now (this from PFT) Seattle has entered the sweepstakes.
(I'll go on record now as wanting Shockey outta the NFC East. I think it weakens their team, despite the fact that Eli DID come outta his shell without the Barking Tatooed one in his face, when on the field he is a legitimate talent and while thats never a full 16, I think the G-men may be a tad full of themselves in thinking they are better without his services).

It's more likely that he saw the offer, but lied about it, thinking that he was repeating the company line.
Brown probably wanted to send a message to CJ, letting him know that he ain't going anywhere.

There was (brief) mention that they could trade CJ after June 1, to avoid cap ramifications.
Still don't see it - think Cincy's really bent on making an example out of Chad. I don't even think a Ricky Williams-like scenario would change their position.

Probably. You'd think Lewis would have the bigger beef with the (alleged) physical assault and stuff, but CJ's complaining about an extension 2 years into it. And after all the crap they went through with Corey Dillon (not to mention the way CJ's been acting), I can see the Browns telling him to perform an anatomical impossibility and stay home.

Per PFT:
Jason Taylor on again/off again availability appears to be on again as now Miami is shopping him.
According to Clark Judge of CBSSports.com, the Dolphins are looking for a mid-to-late first-round pick for Taylor.
Judge cites as sources two unnamed teams whom the Dolphins contacted regarding the possible transaction. Presumably, the teams in question hold picks in the mid-to-late portion of round one.
Three possibilities that immediately come to mind are the Detroit Lions (No. 15), the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (No. 20), and the Jacksonville Jaguars (No. 26). We probably should also include the Eagles (No. 19), since they have at least kicked the tires on every veteran player who is or might be on the market.
The Redskins at No. 21 are also a potential destination, since that first-round pick is again burning a hole in the dry-erase board. And they could use a solid pass rusher.
As we understand it, however, a move wouldn’t come until the team in question is on the clock. There are a couple of reasons for this. First, the team that gives up the pick for Taylor will want to see whom they could have if they keep the pick. Second, the Fins will want to eyeball whom they might be able to acquire with the pick that they pick up. Third, and also from the Dolphins’ perspective, there’s no reason to claim a spot on the board in advance, since that will serve only to give the teams drafting below Miami an opportunity to try to jump over the Fins in an effort to nab the guy whom the Tuna might be targeting.
So if a deal happens, it’s more likely that it will go down while the team that lands Twinkletoes is on the clock.
It’s no secret that Taylor wants out of Miami. He is being diplomatic about his desires, and he could retire if he’s not traded.
The Dolphins have been taking the position that he won’t be traded, presumably to increase his trade value. If it were well known that the Dolphins are ready to move on (and we think they are), there’s no way they’d get a first-rounder for a 33-year-old lineman.
They still might not manage it, especially since Taylor surely will want a new deal in a market that is still processing the impact of Jared Allen’s jaw-dropping deal in Minnesota.
The other factor to keep in mind here is that Taylor might be choosy about where he plays. With one eye already gazing on the Hollywood sign, Taylor surely wants to finish his football career with a team in a big market, or with a franchise that has a high national profile
Um, if Lito is only supposed to command a 2nd, I don't care if he's not got the injury history that Sheppard has- Taylor isn't worth ANYONE's first round pick.
That demand is laughable.
