Kevin Curtis & Reggie Brown. Whiney and diva-like? I think no.

My point is proven!!

Now it's your turn to name 2 wide receivers who DO whine and your and IMS's point will be proven.

Fun.

To me, anyone who celebrates after making a simple tackle is "look at me" diva-like and non-humble. So that would include nearly all linebackers.

As for whiney, not sure if we're talking about whining to the refs or whining about contracts or whining about other teammates, so once I get the definition down I'll come up some names.

Either way, I can point to plenty more wide receivers who aren't whiny or act like the world revolves around them moreso than other positions, so I fail to see how less contact has anything to do with it. Gotta look past T.O. and Chad Johnson and the few other names that stand out that I can't think of right now that I'm sure you'll list.

As for hockey, his analogy is stupid because it's hard to whine when the game is so fluid you can't stop in the middle of play to vent, but when the whistle blows for a penalty (or if the ref missed a penalty) I see lots of players whining on the ice and on the bench, same as when a player in the NBA gets a foul called on him.

celebrating after a tackle may be show-offy, but diva-like? c'mon. we are talking about the over-the-top flamboyance, arrogance and selfishness, on and off the field, that seem to be diproportionately represented by WRs.

we are not talking about doing the "ax-man chop" after a sack.

It's hard to be selfish when you don't expect to get the ball.

As for arrogance, I don't know anyone on a personal level, but a lot of professional-caliber athletes at all positions seem pretty arrogant to me whether they make lots of contact every play or not.

"Flamboyance" as in TD celebrations? That would be the same as a sack celebration.

Dyed hair, tattoos, dreadlocks? These are all across the board. What do you mean by flamboyance?

Receivers and QBs may make less contact than other positions but their bodies can be the most exposed to serious harm, so IMS saying that they don't have to face consequences for their actions seems pretty off.

SZR,
When you compare the amount of hit's a OL,DL,LB and FB take vs. a WR, there is a huge gap in physical play. I would much rather take "the big hit" once or twice in a game, than the constant slam that OL,FB and LB's take. Most times, the "big hit" is something that you can recoup from fairly quickly. I have played enough physical sports, to tell you that you will feel better after a game taking one big hit, compared to the constant collisions over a full game. Yes, you can bring up the "concussion factor", but if you take a look at the way most 50 year old Linemen walk and move around, compared to a WR, there is NO comparison to the beating the body takes.

Also, Linemen, LB's and Fullbacks play an absolute unselfish position. Maybe not as much with DE's, who can be as annoying as WR's, but the fact that your job is to allow someone else to shine, has a lot to do with it.

As far as Diva WR's here is a list:
Terrell Owens
Keyshawn Johnson
Michael Irvin(more off the feild than on)
Chad Johnson
Joe Horn
Randy Moss
Javon Walker(make it rain on his face)
Freddie Mitchell
Plaxico Burress
David Boston
Jerry Porter

No way any of us are that stupid.
Still sayin it aint happening.

Um, Javon Walker should just stay the hell home.

A league source tells us that there’s definitely talk among more than a few players of some potential connection between the face rearrangement suffered by Raiders receiver Javon Walker and boxer Floyd Mayweather.

Though the rumors don’t implicate Mayweather, the unfounded innuendo making the rounds on the web are that Mayweather and Walker were in a champagne bidding war at some point over the weekend, and that at some point thereafter one or more persons with ties to Mayweather came across Walker and proceeded to pound the living crap out of him.

Of course, it’s entirely possible that the rumors among NFL players trace to the Internet rumors, and not to anyone who knows anything about what happened.

As for Walker, it’s unknown whether he has said anything to anyone about what occurred. There’s a chance that Walker will opt for the “I don’t remember nothing” approach, if he has any concerns about possible retaliation.

Per media reports, Walker was robbed of $3,000 in cash and $100,000 in jewelry.

“He’s a guy that was in the wrong place at the wrong time,” Packers linebacker Nick Barnett told WBAY-TV in Green Bay. “I mean, it’s happened to him a couple of times now. He was just trying to go out and have a good time. It’s not his fault. It’s scary that that can happen to another individual.”

I've been on the Vegas strip late at night but I would never carry that much bling on me without a body guard. I could see having 3K in cash if you just hit at the tables but 100K in jewelry? Leave the bling bling in the hotel safe dude. He just made another donation to the dregs of society.

as for walker being robbed of $100,000 worth of jewlery - what is it with these preening fairy fucks? hear this all the time when an athlete gets mugged. here's an idea: pretend you are man instead of a debutant whore and keep the diamond necklaces, earings, watches, bracelets and whatever else to the ladies.

Fred,
Nah, I just thought your post reminded of that movie. Not the newer one. When I think of some the older dudes on this web site playing a pick game up at Lehigh I envision scenes from that movie.
