If Farve came to the Eagles, they'd have to make Brian Dawkins his #1 receiver.

Devin Hester is hinting at holding out, per PFT.
Good luck.

How much is he asking for?
He's worth more than your typical return man. I wondered if he'd see $4 million a year as a return guy (and a part-time CB).

Todd France??? Wasn't he our kicker at one point??
France is not related to the former Eagles and Soul kicker with the same name.

I think the main problem is that he's a return-retire-return-retire-return man. And $4M is too low - you're probably looking at $6-7M easy.
Wait, we're still talking about Favre, right?

Thanks for the Todd France update. On another note, it was a nice run in 1st place by the Phils. They just lost to the Mets, . . . . . again.

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. -- Arizona star wide receiver Anquan Boldin says the Cardinals lied to him about a new contract and that he has no desire to re-sign with the organization.
Boldin, a two-time Pro Bowl player and a team captain last season, said Thursday that he was promised a new contract before this season, and has directed his agent to stop negotiations with the team.

There still might be hope for a legit #1 WR.
At least until the cowdicks trade for and sign him.

HA! I was just here to post an EMB-Esque "BOLDIN TO PHILLY STILL ALIVE" post..
Here's a quote from Boldin.
“After last year, I was promised a deal would get done before this season,” Boldin said. “But the season is here and obviously that hasn’t happened. I don’t want a deal. People may think I’m being funny, or just saying that to say that. But I’m just tired of it. I’m washing my hands of the whole situation.”

Hester apparently has ceased his mighty hold out- after one day.
Folds up like a cheap suit, that one.
And if anyone cares- Rod Smiff retired.

His quote from yesterday afternoon:
''That's what they said to get me to start coming to OTAs,'' Hester told the Sun-Times on Wednesday. ''It's time for me to take a stand. We're going to stand by our decision to do this, and we feel like this can go down to whenever in the season or the end of the season. No matter what.''
Today:
The wide receiver did not stop to talk about his arrival at training camp after a two-day holdout, escorted by the team’s media relations director who prevented him from speaking, but he was asked if he was happy to be here.
``Oh yeah,’’ Hester replied.
Asked if negotiations on a new contract were ramping up, he shook his head as if to say no comment. Then, he was zoomed away in a golf cart, presumably to prepare for the day’s work
Dude must be completely retarded.

A variation of the Madden curse.
And yes, this would be the first time. Everyone else has been injured/sucked.

There's plenty of time left for that, too, my friend.
In fact, no matter where he goes, I'd say there are decent odds that he's gonna be mediocre to shitty. There's virtually no shot he'll be as good as last year.
Favre is such a head case that I can see him having second thoughts after the first game or so, feeling his heart is not in it, and then fighting against his will to play out the string. Yeah, he's a competitor and he won't tank it on purpose, but this is a guy who's emotional and whose heart seems to constantly fluctuate. I think he's kicking himself for initially holding firm on the retirement plans, and when a couple of things start to go wrong, he's really going to question why he came back to play for another team, especially if Green Bay does well without him.

I meant that a variation causes you to change jerseys.
I completely expect him to be at best mediocre, Madden curse or not. And if he goes to the Jets, playing the Pats 2x a year....well.....they're going to have to bring back the ambulance on the field in the game to make it more lifelike.

I seem to be one of the few that actually thinks Rodgers will do a decent job. Of course they'll miss Favre's competitiveness, but whatever team he goes to is going to have unrealistic expectations (him repeating last year, Super Bowl trip, etc.), and it's going to snowball.
He's not going to be what Montana was to the Chiefs (which is where I would've thought he'd end up).

I think the Chiefs really want to lose.
Either that or they want to prove to the league that you don't need a QB in order to win.
They are downright Reidian in their stubbornness.
