This idea that "you have to have direction" is completely blown out of proportion, in my opinion.
Amen. FD, that comes from the multitudes who want action just for the sake of it, and I liken it to the "do SOMETHING" category.
I'm in agreement that the organization is acting FAR more childish than Brett. Although, if I were Brett...20 million.....13.5 mill after taxes? I dunno....I'd be mighty happy with that. I'd counter offer for 30.....just to break the 15 mill barrier. He can buy an entire car dealership that only sells pickups post-modded with gun racks.

So what does everybody think of Rosenhaus' new video to open negotiations for Lito? Here we go again?

Rosenhaus is doing three things:
1) Showing his client that he's "doing something."
2) By trying to draw a parallel with Westbrook, who will likely get some sort of new deal/extension, he's just setting himself up for ammo to use when Westbrook gets a new contract and Lito doesn't.
3) He's making a case for Lito's next team to work out a new deal.
The bottomline is that the situation remains unchanged. If the seconary is healthy, Lito can hold out all he wants and he'll just lose money and the prime years of his career. He has almost no leverage.
If someone were to get hurt, he'd be in a much stronger position, although I think there's almost no chance the Birds rework his deal at any point unless he, Sheldon, ans Asante all have incredible years and form the most devastating secondary in the history of football.
More than likely, Rosenhaus is on board because he has experience at working out trades in situations like these. I think he knows he's not getting a new deal from the Eagles and is just working to boost Lito's profile for a trade and subsequent new contract.

Steve Smith gets suspended for the first 2 games of the season for beating the mess out of teammate Ken Lucas.
That 1st round pick is looking better...
And Favre shows up to TC, with the Pack saying he can compete for the starting job, while they tell the Vikes they're open to a trade. Yeesh.

Regardless of Favre's play, is there any way he loses this "open" competition?

Yeah - if the "competition" is nothing but a farce to increase his trade value. If they're talking about trading with the Vikes, then they're nuts.
I think Rodgers wins unless he rips his ACL from putting his foot in his mouth so much (this is not a point of either man's skills). This whole thing gets more and more bizarre.

Favre will win the job fairly easily, IMO. I think that once they agreed to let it be an open competition, they essentially nuetralized the issue.
If they think it's going to increase their leverage, they might be right. However, once Favre walks onto that practice field again, Rodgers essentially loses the team.
Favre has more talent, better credentials, better arm, more experience, more durability, better leadership ability/charisma.
If he practices with them for a couple weeks and is dealt, the team will be completely dejected and it would nullify any advantage they gained in leverage for a trade.

Brett Favre gets his own moment in the scrolling headlines.
NL, NFL, OLYMPICS, AL, BRETT FAVRE
From watching ESPN all summer, I'm very confident in my SuperBowl prediction:
Brett Favre will play the Dallas Cowboys.
Now I know they are both from the NFC (and technically Favre isn't a team), but according to ESPN's NFL coverage every other team has dropped out of the League.
Brett will win easily.

I haven't watched NFL Network since the draft coverage and hadn't watched NFL Live since last summer, but you are absoilutely right. I tuned into both a couple times over the past couple weeks to see if they had any Eagles camp coverage, get updates on injuries, etc.
It was ridiculous. I would say 40 minutes of each 60 were spent ob Favre/Packers, 15 minutes would be spent on the Cowboys, and the remainign 5 would be spent on updates from "around the league".
I can't remember anything quite like this. I haven't heard the Eagles, Patriots, Giants, or any other team really mentioned to date. The Only Eagles note I saw was a scrolling update about Chris Clemons last week.

Funny...I just clicked on Peter King's MMQb and he touted this issue as "mostly Favre-free", so he switched it up with a 2 page Cowboys report.

Favre and the Cowboys are extremely popular.
You'll have to get updates on how good Booker T Washington or whoever look from the local media.
Just the way it is

I understand those the Cowboys are going to get their share of attention and the Favre story is big news, but roughly 90% of football fans don;t care about either.
They'd be better off going back to their old format of reporting on the entire league, IMO (not that it will get me to watch).

Sure is. I saw Gunn reporting from what appeared to be the corner of a dorm room last week.

The laugher is all the Favre dicklicking going on at ESPN. Chris mortensen needs ball flaps under his chin. He is pathetic. The packers are pathetic for letting Vagina boy roll them into a open competition for the starting QB. Aaron Rodgers is lower than Vagina boy for not telling green bay to go fuck themselves. Anybody on this board who sides with either favre or green bay needs to be banned for gving a shit about either.

I think the Eagles should trade Carolina's first rounder back to them for Smith. That would be a helluva coup...and completely unrealistic.
Dallas has the balls to actually make a legitimate offer. There's almost no way Reid trades for a dominating WR malcontent who has "I need a new contract because everyone else does" written all over him.

I disagree. Ted Thompson is the one acting like a cunt.
Favre wants to play football, the Packers own his rights, and won't let him play.
What's he supposed to do?

BTW, does Ted Thompson think Aaron Rodgers spunks gold bullion?
He's the most covetted player to never start a football game or leave one without being injured.
