I don't think there is anything stopping them from a move like that. However, I think most GMs do their best to avoid burning bridges and that would be a seriously torched bridge.
I would be funny as Hell, though.

Being the idiot that I am, what's to prevent the Bucs from aquiring Favre (for say a 2nd & 5th)and then trading him to the Vikings (for a 2nd & 3rd)?
I've been wondering the same thing and kept forgetting to ask about it.
Do the Vikings really care about burning a bridge with their arch-rival? I mean, only Andy Reid is gullible enough to trade within the division.

It would be a burned bridge between the Bucs and Pack if they made that deal.
They may not care, but I think they try to honor their word as bst they can when they pull a trade off, or both the Vikes and Bucs risk not being able to do business with the Pack for a long time.
Plus, if you're the Bucs, what's your incentive to trade him to the Vikings? They aren't in the same division, but if you think you have a chance to make the playoffs (like the Bucs probably do), would you want to make one of your likely opponents stronger?

Was this a response to a particular post or a commentary on the whole mess, in general?
Just the ridiculousness of both several posts and moreso the powerbrokers of the NFL. I mean, bottom line, this isn't about loyalty. That belongs to a spouse and family and friends. Everything else is just a job where the bottom line is get it done. I'll add to that loyalty to patients.

Javon Walker's making friends.
The contract bringing him to Oakland ($16 million garunteed) was questionable, due to injuries. Now, he's dogging it and talking about retirement.
Someone needs to save the Raiders from Al Davis. click here

It would be a burned bridge between the Bucs and Pack if they made that deal.
Ah, yes. Didn't think about the Bucs burning the bridge. I'll go back to saying "being the idiot that I am."
Here's my dream scenario:
Favre somehow winds up on the Vikings.
Rodgers has a poor pre-season. Favre kicks ass with Minnesota in the pre-season. Everyone in the state of Wisconsin hates Rodgers with a passion.
Minnesota comes to Green Bay on the first Monday Night of the season.
Favre receives a thunderous ovation when he is introduced. Rodgers is booed on a bizarre level not heard since American Aaron Krickstein was booed at the US Open when facing sentimental favorite, old man Jimmy Connors.
Rodgers opens Green Bay's first possession by throwing an interception that is returned to the three-yard line. The crowd is merciless in their contempt for Rodgers.
Favre takes possession on the three and runs a naked bootleg for a TD. The crowd goes nuts for the Country Boy and everyone in the stadium feels an odd mixture of elation and self-hatred for cheering the opposition.
Rodgers takes the field again to thunderous boos. No parallel is drawn to the fans of Philadelphia, and Mike Tirico somehow manages to spin a yarn about Green Bay fans are "still the best fans in the world."
Rodgers responds on the first play of the series by throwing a picture-perfect bomb for a touchdown. The crowd is silenced. He then makes the "Randy Moss moon" gesture to the crowd that had previously booed him. They still don't know how to respond because they feel like the assholes they are, recognizing that they've been rooting against their own team and their team's future.
Camera catch Favre laughing when Rodgers throws his TD. Favre cockily struts out on the field. The cheers of support for him dwindle signficantly. Favre's first pass is incomplete. The cheering dwindles even more. His second pass is incomplete, and downright McNabbian in the way that it is miles off from the intended target. He then curses out his receiver for not being 600 feet tall. Favre now only has a couple of five-year olds rooting for him in the stands. His third pass is one of those vintage Favre ducks, a pass straight up in the air that lands in Charles Woodson's hands. The crowd is eerily silent.
Rodgers comes out and immediately throws a perfect 35 yard pass for a touchdown. The crowd slowly realizes that Rodgers is legit.
Somewhere in the Lehigh Valley, f-dallas begins cursing at his television and chain smokes frantically. ATLeaglefan is downing shots in a Georgia bar, shouting, "I told you so, you pathetic dicklickers!" GlennGoBlue would be reveling in this, too, but he's been passed out since 6:30, an empty bottle of Rumple by his side. Incidentally, munchdaddy is trolling the Level, looking for drunks he can scold. flesh4fantasy recognizes this, and he eggs munch on, making sure to frequently mention just how drunk he is.
And in a secluded Philadelphia living room, SeeZakRun toasts his wife with a glass of Sauvignion Blanc and laughs nefarviously while confidently exclaiming, "I've seen enough! We know exactly how this will end. Let's turn off the tele, honey, and dig in to your fantastic amuse bouche!"
Meanwhile, back in Titletown U.S.A...
Favre returns to the field and after a running play for no gain and an ugly incompletion, he drops back to pass and the ball flies out of his hand. Green Bay recovers.
Rodgers comes back in and promptly marches his team down the field for a touchdown.
This process continues over and over until the first half ends. Rodgers finshes the half 14-of-15 for 235 yards with 5 touchdowns. He walks off the field to tremendous applause. Favre finishes the half 0-of-19 with 3 INTs and 1 fumble.
He quits and retires at halftime.
He later has fifth thoughts and asks to be reinstated at the end of the 3rd quarter, but Bryant McKinnie shoves a ball gag in his mouth and tosses him in a trash can.
The New York Jets still remain interested.
Oh, and the best part is that John Madden joins the ESPN booth prior to the game. Even though he's no longer an ABC/ESPN employee, Madden insists on being in the booth because "this is gonna be a special day." When word breaks that Favre is retiring again, Madden freaks out and screams, "I don't want to live in a world without Favre!" He jumps out of the booth but survives when he lands on a row of people wearing spongy cheeseheads.
The entire row of 26 people is killed, crushed by Madden's girth.
After observing the scene, Korheiser shouts, "Boom!"
Hilarity ensues.

My dream scenario for Favre is for whatever team he plays for this year he is CRUSHED simultaneously (See Example Joe Theismann) by two huge DE's and is permanently paralyzed from the neck down.
Then he can REALLY retire this time from the NFL.

I'm not sure why the hate on Favre is so on. The media is busy licking his balls. He didn't beg them to do it by sending in scripts with demands they be read or something.
I'd like to see him go to the Jets. It'd make the AFC East a tiny bit more competitive. I mean the Bills, Dolphins and the Jets? Seems a little too unfair that the New England Brady-Bellichecks get an automatic 8 wins.
I love the angst though. Please keep it up gents.

Section, did the guy crap in your Wheaties in a former life? Why such animosity for a guy that doesn't affect the Birds at all? If anything, the playoff game he got intercepted late and allowed TouchesDownFreddie to be written into Eagles lore was worth his whole career for me.

ENY, I must confess that I added the Jets part purely for you.
I would actually like to see him on the Jets this year because it might make them watchable. He'd add a whole new level of intrigue to the season, and the papers would be forced to write about something other than Yankees, Yankees, Yankees, Yankees, Yankees, Yankees, Yankees, Yankees, Yankees, Yankees, Yankees, Yankees, Yankees, Yankees, Yankees...

Doc
My read is the guy is an overly emotional cunt. He retired aka Mikey Jordan so just go away. Total distaction to the Pack and the team he supposedly loves so much. If McNabb pulled this shit he would look ten times worse than Favre does right now. Favre retired, it;s over so get on with it. Kind of like your ex wife saying I want you back after filing for a nasty divorce. ITS OVER JOHNNY. MOVING ON.
Favre is a bleeding, STD, infected whore. F HIM and the horse he rode in on. Break a fkn leg jit bag.
