Johnson is a nice player, but is very similar to Reggie Brown.

It doesn't make sense to give him $, when you have a guy on your roster who will give you virtually the same thing.

No one really seems to be biting on Johnson or Hackett, so maybe one of them could be had on a one-year Stallworth-ish kind of deal for chump change. My guess is that a more desperate team (Chicago, Minnesota) might pony up more, but I wouldn't mind bringing him in on the cheap.

I do agree that the Eagles do a phenomenal job of under-utilizing Baskett's size.

Johnson may sign with one of 3 teams shortly.

We’ve gotten confirmation from another source that running back Kevin Jones has been informed by the Detroit Lions that he will be released.

It’s not known whether the move has been made official.

Jones was a first-round pick of the Lions in 2004. A serious foot injury suffered during the 2006 season marred much of the 2007 campaign for him, and we’re told that there was concern that he might not be healthy for the start of the 2007 regular season.

The only other running backs currently on the roster are Brian Calhoun, Aveion Cason, and Tatum Bell.

Juqua Thomas has legally changed his name to Juqua Parker, something his late father requested of him years ago. "My father died in 2005, but before that he asked me to change my name to Parker. That was his last name. I just took a long time to get around to doing it. The name on my birth certificate was Juqua Thomas. I can't figure out why. My mother married after she and my father split up and her name became Thomas. My dad wanted it this way and that's why I did it."

I heard linebacker William Thomas always wanted to change his name to William Rosenberg, but name changing wasn't fashionable back then.
