this is real old news, but reading a March 2008 article by john clayton, i thought it was interesting that he called the clemons signing the "steal of all free agency".

he had a nice game yesterday and i guess calls for cutting him instead of mcdougal were probably a tad short-sighted to say the least.

I didn't really hear many people calling for Clemons to be cut. I wanted 7 DEs.

Even though I wanted all 7, I openly wondered what Howard had done to so easily secure a place on the team, and he played lights out yesterday.

All that said, it's tough to say what McDougle would have done in an Eagles uni Sunday. Clemons had a batted ball and I think that's about it.

for some reason i thought he was also credited with half a sack, but he was not, in fact.

I still think the batted ball was a big play. Seth and I were discussing it yesterday and I can't remember an Eagles game in the Reid era (maybe ever) with so many batted balls.

I think some of it has to do with Samuel (who had 3 by himself), but some has to do with the increased size in the front 7. They were so short/small for so long and they finally have some guys with some height, size, and long arms...makes those windows smaller.

Whatever it is, I hope they keep it up.

The batted ball on defense and the QB drawing a defense off-sides seemed like a couple lost arts under this regime.

Well, so far his contribution on the Giants was to give the Skins a 1st by roughing the kicker.

Anyone else think that Vince Young is toast as a NFL QB?

First, he say's in the offseason, he thought about retiring after his rookie year. He and his agent then down played it.

Sunday, he comes off the feild after getting booed, sit on the bench with a towel over his head and refusues to go back in the game. Fisher has to go to him on the bench and have a litttle "come to Jesus meeting with him right there"

Last night, his family called the police after he went missing...

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Nashville police were asked to search for Vince Young on Monday evening after family members placed a call to the Tennessee Titans informing them of their concern for the quarterback's state of mind.

Young
According to Nashville Metro Police spokesman Don Aaron, Young "abruptly" left his home in Williamson County at around 7 p.m. Monday without his cell phone. Those with him at his home, including family members, were "concerned with his emotional well-being," Aaron said.

Police issued a bulletin to all on-duty officers to be on the lookout for Young and negotiators were also placed on stand-by, a procedure that is common in such situations, Aaron said.

Someone contacted Fisher out of concern for Young, and Fisher contacted the police department, police said.

"Not having all the facts available to us and approaching the matter prudently, we contacted Metro Police to make them aware of the situation and asked for their assistance in locating Vince," the Titans said in a statement Tuesday. "He was located at a friend's house, where we made contact with him.

"He then came to the practice facility, where it was determined that those initial concerns by his friends and family were unfounded and he returned home without incident," the Titans said.

Young left the facility by himself in his own vehicle after speaking with Fisher and officers, police said.

Young was booed during Sunday's season-opening victory over Jacksonville and did not finish the game because of an injury to his left knee. The Titans are expected to reveal results of an MRI on the knee sometime Tuesday, and possibly a timetable for the quarterback's return. Fisher said Monday it's not believed to be a season-ending injury, and ESPN's Chris Mortensen has reported Young will miss two to four weeks.

After throwing an interception in the fourth quarter, Young was late to join the offense for its next series, creating speculation that he tried to take himself out of the game after throwing what was his second pick. He sat on the bench after that interception, seemingly unmoved by players and coaches who tried to console him, often holding his head in his hands.

Fisher explained Monday that the issue was tightness in Young's hamstring and that there wasn't clear communication on the sideline about his ability to return to the field. Young did return to the field, but four plays later he injured his knee. "

Paul Kuharsky covers the AFC South for ESPN.com.

If he wasn't done before (and this stuff didn't just 'happen'), he's done now.

Another depression issue? I'd say this is somewhat worse than Big Kid's because of when it's happening. Even if he pulls it together, will his team back him, especially since Fisher had to throw him back on the field?

Something's rotten in Denmark...(sorry fagel)

Yes.

I've been saying this for a while now.

Regardless of their "cannon for an arm," NFL QBs have to be able to execute the forward pass. Young is not capable of doing this.

I said this with Vick, and I've said it with Young, but the "experts" have disagreed.

Now we have a little lack of sanity to add to the shirtless gumbo that is Vince Young. He's already unraveling, and he's not going to do any better if Collins starts playing well.

Toast.

His hope is that Collins (or whomever) plays well, so he can bow out.

At this point, he's looking for an excuse to retire, and Collins doing well gives him a very convenient out.

we had this discussion about young last year. i made my point then that i thought he was a terrible passer with little chance to improve enough to ever be close to a franchise guy but because of his pedigree and other variables, he would last too long with the titans, ala any number of busts like harrington, carr and leftwich.

this was before it became clear he was also straight up pussy and head case besides being a terrible qb.

this new development is actually good for the titans because it will give them the excuse to move on sooner than they may have otherwise been willing/able.

No, really, that's why he's out for the year. How do you lose your home opener against Carolina sans Steve Smith?

Vince Young is a weird case. I thought he had no shot to be an NFL QB when he was drafted (really, just none).

During his rookie season, he wons me over a little bit. He was raw and his numbers weren't impressive, but he took a bad team to the doorsteps of the playoffs almost by himself. He was a leader, he mounted 4th auarter comebacks, and I thought "maybe this kid has a chance".

Last year pretty much ruined that and this year will be more of the same (especially with the injury and the headcase stuff).

Weird kid from day one (with his weird agent) and a weird kid now.

Don't think that's a real fair thing to point out, but getting on the cover of Madden after only one year of service was short-sighted. Unless all the guys they asked really did believe in the Madden curse.

Oh my...

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- The mother of Titans quarterback Vince Young said he indicated he doesn't want to play football and is "hurting inside and out."

Felicia Young said in Wednesday editions of The Tennessean that her son is tired of all the negativity he's faced after being booed during a 17-10 win Sunday over Jacksonville. On Monday, Titans coach Jeff Fisher called police to help find him.

"What would you think, if you were tired of being ridiculed and persecuted and talked about and not being treated very well, what would you do? What kind of decision would you make?" Felicia Young said "He may not want to deal with it (all), but you have to get to that point before you make that decision first.

"But we're not talking about football right now. We're talking about what would make him happy, and that is the most important thing."

Dude's a straight-up pussbone.

Jesus...missed this little blurb at the end:

Felicia Young said his son needs some space.

"It is hard, all he is going through right now. He's hurting inside and out," she told the newspaper.

"But he will be fine if people are prayerful and help my baby boy out. He is a young man. He just needs a lot of love and support."

Does she still wipe his ass for him, too?

Good gravy. Imagine McNabb reacting in this manner, or Young in Philly.

Thanks, mom - character assassination for the win!

He's supposed to be their franchise QB and he's threatened to QUIT football twice in the past few months, just 2 years after being drafted #3 overall?

The point about Nashville is a good one. This isn't NY, Philly, Dallas, etc., etc., etc. It's freaking Nashville and he's so pathetic he's threatened to quit footbal twice in 2+ years?

I'm just completely shocked...it's totally bizarre.

Let ole Vince try REAL life outside the the NFL for a couple of days as "Vince the new guy in cubicle 12". He may have a slight attitude adjustment.

Is it that he can't get by on his pure athleticism anymore? In college, the guy was so much better than almost everyone else, it was a cake walk. I'm sure it was the same in High School too. Perhaps he just has never really had to press himself beyond just the minimum and just can't handle it no being easy.
