AND APPARENTLY- Philly is in the mix...good sign that they get the fact that LJ gives em about nuttin...
new from pft...
CHIEFS WANT A THIRD-ROUNDER FOR GONZALEZ
Posted by Mike Florio on October 11, 2008, 10:41 p.m. EDT
We heard last night of a report out of Kansas City linking Chiefs tight end Tony Gonzalez to the Giants. We investigated the matter, and confirmed that, indeed, something is up.
Along with the Giants, the Bills, Eagles, and Packers are interested in the veteran Pro Bowler, who recently set the career receiving yardage record at his position.
The Chiefs reportedly want a third-round pick for Gonzalez. The Giants reportedly have offered a sixth-rounder.
Frankly, we’re shocked that King Carl has set his asking price so low. It’s a sign, in our view, of a genuine desire to get the deal done before the trading period expires at 4:00 p.m. EDT on Tuesday.
The fairest approach would be to use a formula that determines the pick based on the performance of Gonzalez and/or of his new team in his new city.
Gonzalez’s base salary for 2008 is only $1 million. In 2009, it spikes to $4 million. In all, he’s signed through 2011.
It makes sense for the Chiefs to get whatever they can for Gonzalez, who at 32 likely won’t be a significant contributor to any resurgence that the Chiefs might ever enjoy. Letting him chase a Super Bowl title with a contending team would also be a nice gesture of appreciation by a franchise for whom Gonzalez has done so much over the years.

The more I think about it, the less I crave Gonzalez. If you can get him cheap- great. And it's not like the Eagles don't have draft picks to burn.

He'll make an impact as soon as he laces up and steps onto the field. NFL teams know who he is. And it's not like he's a rookie either.
Trust me when I tell you that you hold Williams in much higher regard than the rest of the NFL.
He's literally the Lito Sheppard of WRs...physically gifted, a bit of a bitch, flashed big talent early, very quiet for the better part of two years.
You need to tuck your cock away.

If his price tag is a 3rd rounder, I'd have this deal done yesterday.
Hell, trade for both Williams and Gonzo. How could you have a better draft haul out of 2nd and 3rd round picks next year than Roy and Tony? While STILL Having 2 first round picks...let's start cutting deals.

FD, ESPN is reporting that the Chiefs want a 3rd for Gonzalez. I really don't fucking know why the Birds are struggling to do this deal. He is a good blocker and a good receiver.

Come on Jules, you been paying attention to the FB era at all? Can't you see that we'll be fine with the team we have? FB says so.

They can't/won't admit defeat on LJ Smith.
The guy just keeps crawling back to mediocre with one or two good plays a game.

Based on Peter King's MMQB this morning, he believes there's a 50/50 shot Tony G gets traded (though he didn't name the Eagles as a potential landing spot). He said the odds of Roy Williams getting traded were 5/95, for the record.

I don't know how you got here, but I think if the Lions openly said "We're trading him", there'd be a slew of offers.
He's literally the Lito Sheppard of WRs...physically gifted, a bit of a bitch, flashed big talent early, very quiet for the better part of two years.
Even you agree that there would have been plenty of teams lining up for Lito- if The Eagles hadn't of been asking for other teams "first-born" in return.
You need to tuck your cock away.

Well, Andy Reid said in his press conference they are looking at a couple of things. What would it be, if not one of these offerings?

Lions interim general manager Martin Mayhew said he has initiated trade discussions with other teams, but did stress that, despite media reports, wide receiver Roy Williams is not on the block. "I've told Roy that we aren't shopping him, and Roy has told me that he wants to be here," he said. "We don't think it would better for our players or our team to make that kind of move." Williams has repeatedly said he wants to stay in Detroit.
They are reportedly asking for two first round picks for Williams and in talks with the Cowboys, have requested Demarcus Ware as part of the package.
Ther entire NFL is laughing at them, obviously, since they are the one calling these teams up with their absurd trade offers.
What a joke of an organization.

VIKES SHOULD HAVE KNOWN TAPEH HAD SURGERY
In response to the public lamentations of Vikings coach Brad Childress that fullback Thomas Tapeh didn’t disclose to the team that he had knee surgery only weeks before inking a big-money (for fullbacks) deal with the team, a league source opines that the Vikings knew or should have known about it.
“Didn’t they give the kid a physical?” the source asked. “If they didn’t then they were stupid and if they did and they couldn’t figure out that he had recent knee surgery then something is definitely wrong. It’s pretty easy to figure out a guy had recent surgery.”
At a time when fans of the 3-3 team are become increasingly vocal regarding their displeasure with the direction of the team under Childress, the Tapeh situation will only fuel calls for Chilly’s whistle.
Just posting b/c we may see Childress as an offensive assistant to Reid next year...yay...

I saw that last night and couldn't believe it, but I didn't think anyone would believe me and I didn't know what thread to put it in.
GGB, if you end up in this thread...WTF? Did he lose a bet? How on earth does a Michigan alum end up wearing a PSU T-shirt on Monday night football.

Yup. To Joe Jurevicius.

Be honest, would you be eager to wear Michigan football gear these days?

Eh, the way college football is these days, a lot of big-conference teams are going to be losing to 'mid-major' types over the next decade or so. Your Boise State team was just the tip of the iceberg, Dino. For once, Michigan is ahead of the trend instead of hopelessly behind.

Don't even expect him to play another down ever.
