second - i hate the eagles MO, reid's approach, and other than TO, their reluctance to roll the dice.

At least Jerry Jones has the balls to roll the dice. And will continue to roll the dice until they win another Super Bowl. And didn't the Skins make the playoffs last year and kick the Eagles ass in their first match up this year.

The fkn Eagles FO act like they are one or two guys away from winning the Super Bowl every year. So their need to roll the fkn dice and telling us everything is great before the season starts is a complete line of total bullshit. For the fans who love and follow this team year and year out it is a fkn disgrace.

Like I have said and many others have said over the years on this site, the "aggrogance" of this team is beyond PREPOSTEROUS.

Waiting till next year and trading 1st round drafts picks is an INSULT to the fans who unconditionally support this team.

The Eagles FO told us that they were the GOLD FKN STANDARD while the rest of the NFC East teams laughed and have now passed them by.

And since people love bringing up stats on this web site... what is the Eagles record since their loss to the Pats in the Super Bowl in 04.

I don't know off the top of my head but I'll guess and say it is around .500.

Some fkn Gold Standard. Way to "roll the dice" you fkn fuck nuts.

Keep buying that Eagles merchandise you stupid suckers.

I've got nothing against going to the games. If you love NFL football you are going to watch and or go to the stadium. Or you are going to sell your tickets to other suckers on EBay and make a nice profit. Capitalism at its best, but don't buy Eagles fkn merchandise. F em.

Here's something else to annoy you:

Sal Pal went on Mike Miss today and said "a solid source" told him Tony G could've been anyone's for a 3rd. A FREAKIN' 3RD! You mean to tell me cutting Tony Hunt to make room for a LB that probably won't see the field was more important than taking that 3rd and getting a real TE in here?

Plus the Boys had (2) 3rds, (2) 4ths, and (2) 6ths. So they really gave up a 1st for Williams.

I can understand the anger at seeing Roy Williams go to a division rival, but the Cowboys far paid a steep price for a WR that has has 1 (one) year of 1,000 receiving yards or more and has seen his TDs decline every year since 2005. Lions or not, without the 2006 season, you're talking about a different receiver.

A 3rd for Gonzo, though, is tough to rationalize (if that's what they turned down). Tough, in the sense that I can't see why the trigger wasn't pulled. LJ Smith isn't the answer, or he would have a new contract. Gonzo can produce for the next three years at a high level, which can't be said for any LJ backup or 3rd round pick.

Johnson,

I NEVER bought merchandise, but this non-move by Fat Man and Numbnuts guarantees the streak will remain unbroken. I got a fleece 6 years ago for my b-day and I can't count that.

I think it would be genius to get a serious group of people to wear Roy Williams (cowboys jerseys) to an Eagles game.

It is a Mike Brownesque maneuver. Lurie keeps minting cash like Wachovia wishes it could and couldn't give a corn-encrusted turd what Eagles fans think/care as long as they keep coming to games, buying merchandise, and seriously overpriced food/drinks.

The NFL owners complain that approximately 60% of revenue goes to paying players. In Lurie's case, I think its much closer to 30%. He keeps humming the tune, "I'm in the money....I'm in the money.....".

For anyone that thought Jones overpaid, fine....whatEVER!

I mean, Jizus Kriest!!! What do you want? Another undersized DT from USC that the Birds move up to pick in the middle of the first?? It isn't like they are going to get a true blue chip player. Maybe they might trade those two firsts for eight 7th rounders. Raheem Brock anyone? Wait...wait....wait....I forgot, the Birds are going to get 13 right guards again this draft as insurance against Andrews depression.

Screw this team. While my protests will go COMPLETELY unnoticed, screw THEM! They will go into next season with two tackles that they need to replace UNLESS they can squeeze one more season out of them. An aging safety who's shelf-life was exceeded a year ago. A QB that you can't really resign or the cap hit makes little sense. No TE worth mentioning. No FB - again. An oft injured RG. 4 of 5 WRs who probably wouldn't make any other teams as anything more than a #3. THAT IS THE GOLD FKN STANDARD????

Ok, I realize this rant comes too late for it to have any meaning...but seriously screw them. Fuck Lurie. The NFC East gift wrapped Fat Man and Scrooge an opportunity by ALL losing this week. It won't make a sliver's shit of difference at the end of the season.

I can imagine Garrett calling out to JJ and the Fat Man....cover this BIATCH!

Devil's advocate checking in....

A 1,3 and 6 for Williams is steep and, as has been rightly been pointed out earlier, Roy is at best streaky and at worst flat out invisible sometimes. Granted, he has the occassional game where he catches everything thrown at him but they have been scarce since the Harrington days.

With Tony G, NOBODY was willing to deal a 3. I don't know why either - TG has been a rock for like 10 years - but the Giants, who need a TE even more than we do, wouldn't budge from a freakin' 6 for the guy.

um, never mind

GONZALEZ “PISSED” THAT HE WASN’T TRADED

Tony Gonzalez wanted the Chiefs to trade him. They didn’t.

And now the Chiefs are stuck with a guy who is, at least for now, “pissed.”

“I’m shocked,” Gonzalez told Jay Glazer of FOXSports.com. “It didn’t make sense NOT to do this deal. It’s winding down for me and this team is rebuilding. If they said from the get-go, ‘No, we’re not going to trade you,’ that would’ve been better than how this whole thing unfolded. But that’s not what happened.

“Last night I talked to Carl [Peterson] and I point blank asked him what it would take to get it done,” Gonzalez added. ”I wanted to know if it could happen with a fourth. He started talking about a second and a fifth like the [Jeremy] Shockey deal. Nobody is going to trade a second for a 32-year-old tight end. All along Carl said he would do something that works for both parties. Then he talked about how he traded a third for Willie Roaf and he made it pretty clear to me that’s what was going to get it done. That was certainly fair.”

Though the details of the offers weren’t clear, Gonzalez says that “teams” (i.e., more than one) offered a third-round pick.

“I know teams offered a third and in the end, Carl made the asking price a second. I’m very disappointed that he didn’t go through with it after he told me he was going to try to make it happen. I’ve been around this league a long time, it’s a business. There’s nothing I can do about it. I was pissed off about it but I’ll get over it. I won’t let it affect my play and my preparation.”

Per Glazer, two teams offered a third-round pick and “a few” offered a fourth-rounder. But the Chiefs held firm on wanting a second-round selection.

“I can’t cry about it,” Gonzalez said. “If anything this has motivated me even more. I’m a Chief, will be happy to be a Chief and will bust my butt for the Chiefs. I was never not happy being a Chief. I just wanted the chance to spend my last couple of years winning a title, not rebuilding. But I’m here to help rebuild, I’ll work with all our young guys and get after it like I always have.”

Until after the 2008 season, when Gonzalez will undoubtedly resume his push for a trade.

"HE'S BEEN PLAYING FOR THE DETROIT LIONS, PEOPLE."

so did barry sanders. a lot of great players have produced for horrible teams over the years. larry fitzgerald and anquan boldin have been putting up great numbers for the cardinals who until this year, last time i checked, have been about as successful as the lions. back in the day, steve largent was the all-time leading receiver in NFL history playing for the freaking seahawks. so don't give me this "oh, now he's on the cowboys, so he's gonna be great" bullshit. if you can play, you can play.

the fact is, he is an above-average wide receiver who makes dallas slightly better than they were. that's it. they still have a horrible head coach, a QB who has yet to produce after halloween, more distractions than a lindsay lohan night on the town, and holes in their secondary.

as for gonzalez, for the eagles to not give up a 3rd rounder for him is an absolute disgrace. gold standard, my ass.

Okay, so does ANYONE think that the Eagles were one of the two teams offering a third-rounder?

Highly unlikely.

Not that I don't agree in principle with Johnny's embargo of Eagle Merchandise, I'm just not sure how much of an impact that will have. I believe that under the current CBA, all the teams in the league share in the revenue every time a licensed NFL team product is purchased. Basically, the impact of not purchasing Eagles merchandise is 1/32 of what the intended purpose would be. It also stands to reason that if everyone purchases that Cowboys Roy Williams jersey for the last game, it would actually put more money in the Eagle's pockets in the name of protest.

OK, back to the gnashing....

Oh, no doubt Peterson fucked himself purely for principles' sake, as Gonzalez' value will not go up as he gets older.

He is probably just as stupidly stubborn as Reid/Banner, sharing the philosophy that's it's more important to stick to your principles and either take advantage of another team's position of weakness or do nothing at all than it is to actually improve your team.

Well, at least the Chiefs won a Super Bowl in 1970.

Yes Hooky... Jerry Jones bitched about that during the Cowboys glory days.

Buying the Williams' Cowboy jersey would be a statement only, not intended to hurt Lurie's wallet.

Ceasing to buy any Eagles merchandise would be the part where Eagles fans can fight back a bit.

And this from the Inky, made me chuckle a tad:

The Eagles probably would have been willing to throw unhappy cornerback Lito Sheppard into a deal for Gonzalez. But the Chiefs had no interest in Sheppard. They play a Cover-2 defense, which requires physical cornerbacks who can tackle. Sheppard is neither physical nor a particularly good tackler.

No need to add a proven #1 receiver when there's diamonds in the rough to be found.

I personally think this was the best thing that could've happened to Tony Hunt. FB was never going to use him as he should, a power RB, so maybe now he'll get a chance to do that on another team. I'm willing to bet he catches on with another team and can make an impact.
